Interesting preserves that can be used for much more than just topping toasts. Each preserve recipe comes with suggestions for how to cook with it as well as a cheese pairing. The batches are large, but one could very easily halve the recipe. And all of the preserves would make wonderful host gifts to bring along when you're invited to dinner or an informal party. I've been experimenting with more than pedestrian, traditional jam and jelly making this season. This book gave me a wealth of new ideas as jumping off points. I enjoyed reading this book, and it gave me a few ideas for things I might like to try. But on the whole, the recipes are in very large quantities, too large for a home cook, and they also rely on large amounts of fresh lemon juice and large amounts of sugar to make them gel. So...pleasant to read, but not so practical for me.
