She was bounced from foster home to foster home. Now at the age of 19 she's on her own. No family and no friends. She's on her way home one night when she is attacked my a mugger. Not wanting to give up the only picture of her and her father that she has, she fights back. Only to be stabbed repeatedly. She can feel herself dying, fading away. Out of no where she hears someone approaching her. She looks up and into the most beautiful eyes she has ever seen. She feels drawn to this stranger but can't figure out why. Her only thought is she wishes she would have met him under different circumstances and that she wasn't dying. She can't believe her eyes when she sees this handsome stranger transform right before her eyes. But it can't be. Her mind is playing tricks on her. It has to be. There is no way the stranger turned into a werewolf. Jack has been keeping a close eye on Ava. He can't explain it but he just has to be near her as often as possible. When he finds her lying on the ground dying, he is heartbroken. But there's something he can do to save her. He can change her. But to his surprise, she is already changing. He refuses to lose her again so he sends a couple of wolves from his pack to watch over her during her transformation. Little did any of them know, Ava's transformation is anything but normal. And once she's made the change, their lives will never be the same again. Danger lurks around every corner. They find themselves coming up against enemies and friends, good and bad, happy and sad, trials and triumphs. They will get help from the unlikeliest places and people. But through it all, one thing will never change. Jack and Ava will always be there for each other as well as the wolves in their pack. They don't know how, they don't know when, but somehow they will be able to overcome everything. They have to. There is no other option. Wow! That is all I have to say! I have been on the hunt for a good urban fantasy that will grab and keep my attention. After a few months of searching, I stumbled upon Fate Bound. I was instantly intrigued by the synopsis and grabbed a sample of the book. And boy am I glad I did! This definitely has a unique storyline that will engage you from the beginning and not let you go till the very end. I can't wait to read the next book in the series! I will need to wait till Friday to start it because I know myself all too well. If I start it now I will want to read way past my bedtime and sneak in reading when I'm supposed to be working! Lol. This is my first book by Madeline Freeman and I am looking forward to reading more by her! And of course we can't forget my casting. What do you think?! Content: mild swearing and mild violence.

I started reading this book when I really shouldn't have. Now I'm behind on my review reading and that's trouble!! I couldn't help but keep reading because I was engaged and invested in these characters and the story. I just had to know what was going to happen. Now I'm left wanting more and I REALLY cannot read the next book right now. Ugh. Torture. Ha. Content: mild swearing throughout, kissing I started reading this book when I really shouldn't have. Well I found this a bit slow but it soon picked up. I liked the ideas used but it's nothing unique. I liked how no one knew she was a hybrid and how it came out. I liked Cassandra and how she seems to see people and not their type. I think that sometimes the story needed a little more tweaking but overall I enjoyed it. I wish that Ava stops being weak one moment and super strong the next and then turning into a wimp again. Well I found this a bit slow but it soon picked up. Overall, I thought this was a really good book. I wish there was more backstory to Ava's life before she gets turned. The beginning just needed to be developed more. You don't get a clear sense of who she is before all the events happen. I loved her and Jack! I do feel that it was slightly "insta-lovey" but I understand a part of that because of the "halfs" concept. Usually books like this with use the word mate, but I like how it is something all immortals have, not just the werewolves. Ava see Overall, I thought this was a really good book. Ava seems to completely understand what Jack means when he says that she is "his", which is a bit odd because she doesn't know anything about "halfs" yet. I saw most of the plot twists happening, but I still found the story enjoyable. I do think that there needs to be slightly more world building. There was a lot of info-dump dialogue, which is okay somethings, but there were instances where the author could have developed the world more but didn't take the opportunity to. I loved this book and would continue reading the series.

I mainly started reading this when I was waiting for something and actually got kind of into it which I really didn’t expect. This really is your run of the mill werewolf romance and I was kind of here for it. - The writing was good and I liked the plot, although predictable. It reminded me of my supernatural obsessed days and I felt nostalgic, what can I say. - Nothing alarmingly wrong about the characters but they didn’t stand out either. Ok Maybe I’ve just read too many werewolf books lately because this storyline seemed old. I am not really interested in reading more. Maybe if I had read this one before the others?

The summary for "Fate Bound" describes a unique and interesting plot. Yet, the reviews were mixed. Either people really liked this read or they really didn't enjoy it. The plot is unique and had great potential; however, the author was in too big of a hurry and didn't take sufficient time to properly world build, provide sufficient characterization or do the initial work necessary to allow readers to truly feel invested into the story and characters. I often found myself with more questions than answers and it definitely interfered with my reading enjoyment. For example, what happens to the werewolves clothes when they shift and if they shift naked what is the main character, Ava, feeling when she shifts for the first time. Next, the action scenes were almost comical since they consisted of less than a paragraph. This is just one more example of how the author rushes through the tale. In the end, the reader is left with a mediocre read with a mediocre to boring ending that certainly doesn't make me want to move forward in this series. Oh, I have to say that the so called romance between the two main characters is so tepid that I found myself yawning. Needless to say I won't move on with this series and it is truly sad because it had so much potential!

I enjoyed some of Madeline Freeman's other work and I read an intriguing excerpt of Fate Bound at the end of the Clearwater Witches series. I was pretty surprised at the tone and twists in this. Book and was impressed by the range with which Freeman writes. You may have heard the saying that "wolves mate for life" or stories about should mates being two halves of a whole. Well, this story takes those concepts to a whole new level. I enjoyed this book but the entire storyline felt rushed to me, the author didn't take the time to really iron out the characters at all and I didn't feel the connection to them that I've felt with other books. It was like the author was trying to pack as much in as possible into the first book to keep people reading it but it was just a bit confusing at times. Ava is a newly turned hybrid werewolf adjusting to life as a werewolf with some vampire tendencies. She is an abomination to the witches who want her dead, and the vampires want her to create more hybrids. Ava's alpha Jack turns out to be her other half, her soul mate. Recommendation for Twilight and The Originals fans Really liked this book it reminds me a bit of Twilight and The Originals series. Werewolves, vampires, witches oh my. Ava who wakes up after an attack a werewolf. Not only that, but a hybrid mix vampire and being an Alpha's half to Jack. Complication when witches council hears of it as well as the other supernatural community. Fate Bound a must read for supernatural lovers 😉💞✌ Recommendation for Twilight and The Originals fans Really liked this book it reminds me a bit of Twilight and The Originals series. Dnf at 57%. I usually force myself to finish a book. I hate to leave a half read book but it just wasn't for me. If the blurb interest you, you should give this book a try because you might be one of those readers that loves the book. Unfortunately, I just wasn't one of them. I will still try other books from this author to see if it was just this book that didn't hook me in. Dnf at 57%. I usually force myself to finish a book. Not my favorite genre. Keep trying books with this theme though. I did like that the girl wasn't just head over heels for her mate that the rest of her life stopped so she could be with him. Decent storyline. More questions raised than were answered so if you are really into this book expect to get the other ones. Not my favorite genre. Keep trying books with this theme though. This fantasy/paranormal story caught my interest because the writing style was clean and enjoyable and the plot intriguing, but I had some difficulty connecting and sympathizing with the characters. All in all, the eloquent writing style, world-building, and events kept my interest but I sort of felt like a neutral bystander rather than someone experiencing the emotions of the characters.

Waste of Time The beginning of the tale drags on while the author hopes the reader might buy into the premise. The ending pages arrive before you develop any alliegence to the characters, let alone have any reason to read more. Hard to put down! Very compelling and easy to get lost in this world. Poor Ava doesn’t seem to catch a break in life, other than finding her other half in Jack. I love a strong heroine who just looks at a problem and pulls up her big girl pants. Definitely worth a read.

DNF The blurb sounded good but the story itself was meh. It seemed too much like the storyline flitted from one thought to another without much to tie them together. There were some sections I felt belonged in another part of the story of what I did read. Could use another round of editing as well.

The author did an excellent job of creating a protagonist female that acts her age; not looking for a man to come save her. And the lead male isn’t “claiming his mate.” The story is intriguing, and the flow is perfect; just enough action, and the beginning of a romance. And it’s very well written.
