There is so much going on in this book, you must read both 1 and 2 to try to get a handle on what this is all about... and I'm still not sure what's going on. I'm not sure how to review this without spoilers here. This is told in flashbacks, which is annoying and doesn't really help the reader at all. We start with Katie being questioned by the police because there's a dead person (don't know who) and blood in her apartment. Katie is the main character -- she admits that she enjoys sleeping with older men, most of whom are married.... and right there, I should have just returned the book. But okay. She's got daddy abandonment issues. And she's been sleeping with a married guy named Neil. She's trying to get her alcoholic sister, Kendra, to leave a bar and her new skeezy boyfriend. They attempt to leave and skeezy guy tries to stop them, hitting and fighting with both girls and then along comes the hot mysterious man who steps in to save them... Blake. And then he seems to keep showing up and he and Katie start this weird little relationship (but Neil is still "around") and it appears that Kendra starts something with Steve, maybe getting her life back on track, but by the end something's not right with her either... and she may be the one dead? I think it's supposed to be clear, but I'm really not understanding all of this. What kills me is that the banter between Blake and Katie is great. It's the rest of it that's disturbing and confusing. Much like these two sisters. And to make matters worse, there are many writing errors in the version I read. For example, he's a "traitor" not a "trader" if he betrays you or a country. A trader is one who barters goods or financial stocks.

Written for ? This starts out a a really good story. A woman with a lot of issues trying to deal meets a possible beautiful conclusion. I really hate whoever decided that a book must end at the critical point so you have to buy the rest of the story. I will never do that!!!!

Before is the beginning. Before the main entree may come hors d'oeuvre s, soup, salad, pallet cleansers, all sorts of things that fill your mouth with tantalizing aromas, tastes and textures. So it is with before we loved. These are the details that make you long for the main course. Before is the beginning.
