For those of you who enjoy the Brazen Entangled series and love the ”romance with the older brother’s best-friend” trope, this one should hit the spot. I never read the first two books in the series and figured I could read this as a standalone, but I felt like something was missing for me. It was as if I was thrown into the middle of the story and never really got the benefit of the beginning. I would definitely advise reading the previous books. I was able to follow along but I didn’t care for how the story starts. Olivia Kane is boozing it up at a bar and trying to pick up a handsome stranger in hopes of having a one night stand to help her forget how she was just left at the altar. Actually, her fiancé was busted having sex with one of the wedding guests, not even an hour before the ceremony was to take place. The wedding guest happens to have been the date of Flynn Cross, Olivia’s childhood crush and current bane of her existence. They grew up together since childhood but for the past seven years, Flynn had just dropped out of her life without any notice or reason. Olivia plans to go on her honeymoon trip to Mexico and to lose herself in meaningless sex with random men. Flynn is not having any of it and proceeds to follow Olivia down to Mexico. She’s still hurting over his disappearance and puts up a good fight in the beginning, but when Flynn offers his sexual services to her, she finds it nearly impossible to resist the man who’s had her heart since she was only twelve-years-old. Flynn has been in love with Olivia almost as long as she’s had the same feelings for him. But several things keep him from pursuing more with her. He thinks that he’s not good enough for her and would never jeopardize his friendship with her brother, Brody. His reasons for keeping his distance from Olivia after he came back from his tour in Iraq were eye-rolling inducing. One Week to Score has the steam that you come to expect from Brazen novellas and I can’t deny that I enjoyed the schmexy. It’s low on angst and good for a filler read.

It's like the woman custom writes her books just for me. (Shh! Don't rain on my parade with reality. I like to pretend she does) I thought I was going to love Olivia's story when I first met her as the sassy and sarcastic secondary character of Brody's younger sister in Taking the Score. But you know what? I was wrong! I didn't just love it. This book blew away all my expectations. I loved every snark filled page. So what did this book have? EVERYTHING! A jilted bride hell bent on getting her groove back? CHECK. She was going to have hot, drunken, impaired-judgement sex with a stranger on her wedding day while wearing her Ver Wang dress and a gorgeous veil. A broody, dirty talking alpha hell bent on making sure she gets her groove back with him? CHECK. Am I still the last guy on earth you’d open those pretty little thighs for, Liv?” And we’re back. “You’re going to need more than an average kissing game to get with me, Cross.” “Nothin’ average about that kiss.” She sighed. “Don’t beg. It’s so unTexan.” “Before the night’s through, sweets, I’ll be hearing your fuck-me-Flynn moans.” “In your Liv-filled dreams.” Older brother's best friend trope? CHECK. Well, hello there, you look like a bad decision. Come on over and sit a spell. A whole lot of hate lust? CHECK AND CHECK!! He was still the hottest piece of ass she'd ever seen. Good thing she could be objective about that. When you know someone is the devil, immunity to his charm is usually built in. Some of the best banter I've read in a long damn while? CHECK! I'm glad you're here, because I want you to play my wing girl." "Don't you mean wing man?" "No, wing girl. You've always felt like a sister to me- an older one I despise but still obliged to talk to because, y'know, family." Did I mention the sassy banter? And the snark! OH THE SNARK!! MOTHER-EFFING-CHECK!! You're so sure you have me, aren't you? That I'm going to fall into your discksand?" "My dicksand?" "Like quicksand. But with your dick." To say that I loved Flynn would be a complete understatement because I was obsessed with him. He ticked all of my favorite dirty boxes! Dirty talker? CHECK. Dirty between the sheets? CHECK! Plays dirty to get the woman he wants? CHECK AND CHECK. Olivia was awesome! This is no wilting wallflower. The woman had one heck of a mouth on her and I loved every sarcasm filled insult she'd hurl Flynn's way. If you follow my reviews, you already know I'm a sucker for the enemies to lovers thing and these two had it in spades. But I also really loved the history between them. This isn't your typical Older Brother's Best Friend trope. Well it was but with a Kate Meader spin. Liv and Flynn grew up together. Her family took him in from his abusive alcholic father and Flynn has never felt like he was good enough for Liv. It didn't stop him from loving her from afar and it didn't stop Liv from returning those feelings. But seven years ago everything changed. But now that Liv's wedding has fallen apart, Flynn knows it's the one opportunity he has to finally make things right and get a taste of the woman he's craved for years. And if she's not enthusiastic about it at first? Well he's not above playing dirty to get his way. Give him an inch and he'd give her nine. Suffice it to say, this may have been my favorite Tall, Dark, and Texan book yet! Way to end the series with a bang, Kate. *waggles brows* If you're looking for a super fun and steamy read filled with the best banter, hot sex, even hotter alpha, and a sassy heroine that takes none of his shit; READ. As a—” “Fuck toy.” Olivia Kane’s muddling through the worst day of her life, and publicly no less. Catching her fiancé getting up close and personal with her maid of honor minutes before her wedding was set to take place is certainly horrifying, but having Flynn Cross witness her humiliation is the frosting on the shit cupcake that is now her life. After all, it’s not often your brother’s best friend and the man you’ve been in love with since you were thirteen gets a front row seat for that kind of action. And why does Flynn seem almost happy about the sudden turn of events? One Week to Score is the third book in the Tall, Dark and Texan series and in my opinion, the best. I love the brother’s best friend romance trope and Olivia and Flynn’s long and rich history makes this story especially successful. There’s a whole lot of water under the bridge between these two and when Flynn suggests a one week, no strings fling in paradise, Olivia's not exactly jumping for joy at the thought of accepting what Flynn’s offering. “Am I still the last guy on earth you’d open those pretty little thighs for, Liv?” And we’re back. “You’re going to need more than an average kissing game to get with me, Cross.” “Nothin’ average about that kiss.” She sighed. “Don’t beg. It’s so unTexan.” “Before the night’s through, sweets, I’ll be hearing your fuck-me-Flynn moans.” “In your Liv-filled dreams.” Which brings me to my favorite aspect of this sweet little diddy: the banter. I love a good round of sexy, I love you but I hate you trash talk. Olivia’s rapid fire tongue would have most men reaching for their cups and praying everything’s still in working order. Flynn’s no slouch but Olivia brings a level of anger, vulnerability and passion to her comebacks that kept me entertained for most of the book. If you’re looking for a heroine that just kind of gives in and goes with the flow, Olivia’s not the lady for you. You know what? That’s absolutely what I appreciated the most as I devoured this story. Luckily Flynn has his redeeming qualities as well. “You wanted to know, Liv,” he ground out as he ground in. “How hard I would fuck you. How I would take and take until you’re nothing but skin and sensation. Tell me to stop. Tell me to treat you like the good girl you are.” This book is scorching hot and I’m going to go ahead and give Flynn’s dirty mouth most of the credit for that loveliness. There’s nothing quite like a man that knows what he wants and goes after it, balls to the wall, so to speak. As much as I enjoyed One Week to Score, I’m sad to see this series go. I do believe this is the last Tall, Dark Texan but if it has to end, what a way to go out. ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

It's a frenemy to lovers/best friend's sister story with all kinds of attitude, sass and cockiness. Olivia's wedding didn't happen. The American Texas Princess was supposed to marry a congressman but now-ex-friend and maid of honor couldn't resist the temptation to tap the groom-to-be on their wedding day. She goes on a mission to comfort herself by indulging in random hook-ups Flynn Cross, of all people, crosses her plans (see what I did there?). He has had a thing (and hard-on) for his best friend's sister for 15 years so he will stop at nothing to keep Livvie from going through with her intentions. Since Livvie is going on the planned honeymoon trip despite the wedding disaster he just invites himself and offers to be her sex toy for a week. “I’ll give you whatever you want whenever you want it. Any time of day, you need relief, just crook your finger and I’ll crook mine. Against you, inside you, deep as you need it. If I’m not around, text me and I’ll come, ready to make you come. For one week, I’ll fulfill every fantasy on demand and get you off so many times we’ll break records.” Olivia isn't a happy camper though - Flynn broke her heart 7 years ago. They used to exchange emails and care packages when he was in Iraq, one day her brother's best friend didn't return her mails any longer. Every attempt at communication was declined by him. So why does Flynn insert himself back into her life now? “Shut it, Flynn. Just… oh God, you’ve been impossible to evict, because possession is nine-tenths of the law. You’re inside me. A part of me. But you pulled me close with one hand and crushed my heart with the other, and I can’t go through that again.” This was an adorable and fun romp. Livvie throws sass and attitude throughout the whole book, she doesn't smooth Flynn's way back into her life. There is a lot of cursing and 'tude coming for him which he takes in stride and with a huge happy smile on his face. Flynn, despite being the kind of man-ho we love, isn't without depth though, he has a secret which isn't as funny, yet it doesn't distract from the generally lighthearted tone of the story. One thing that annoyed me a little bit was the way Olivia handled Flynn's reason he kept his distance. She says that she doesn't want to make it about herself but she did anyway. I think with a little bit reflection she should have understood that he was broken and if you are you don't make sound decisions. You do get a good look at her big heart though. There is another secret which I don't really want to spoil but it gives you an idea what kind of person Flynn is and while it doesn't make him appear in a good light the reasons behind it are kind of understandable. Flynn is an adorable hero and I'm amazed with how much humor he handles Olivia's attitude. Once Livvie gives in they burn up the pages. SCORCHING! The humor is like a red thread from beginning to end and I giggled and chuckled and snorted A LOT! I will definitely read more of this author, she has that kind of tongue-in-cheek writing style I love. "You're so sure you have me, aren't you? That I'm going to fall into your dicksand?" "Dicksand?" "Like quicksand. But with your dick". ARC via Netgally in exchange for an honest review - thank you!

Kate Meader has excelled herself with the final book in the Tall, Dark and Texan series, although to be honest I think this is probably the best complete Brazen series I have read in a long while. Everything about Olivia and Flynn’s story just clicked for me, plenty of banter, a few giggles, lots of sexy-times, and some incredibly sweet and heart felt moments for this pair as they work towards their happily ever after. "A knight in beat-up armor is still a fucking knight…" Which seeing as Livvy has just been left standing at the altar the author gave the situation gravitas, but kept it quite light reading at the same time. He had waited over ten years for the privilege of exploring that beautiful body, and no one else would touch her as long as it was within his power to stop it. Brothers-best-friend with a dash of 'frenemies' thrown in for good measure meant that this couple were going at it verbally from the get-go and then physically pretty quickly thereafter. I can’t say that the plot offered up a huge amount of surprises, but the author always manages to make her characters a little bit vulnerable, even if they come across externally as having balls of steel. "You slay me… Into little pieces. Always have." Both Flynn and Livvy were of this mix, and as the reasonings for Flynns sudden disappearance from her life seven years previous start to come to light you see that Livvy is not the only one nursing a few emotional scars. It started as a school boy crush and morphed into something forbidden… but through all the worst times of his life, she’d been there. Loved this book, adored the series, stellar epilogue. I hope to see more from this author through this publisher in the future, they have definitely got the recipe right for the Brazen imprint, so I hope they use it again with another series at some point. I wanted to read this book in a single sitting it was so entertainingly fun and sexy and then it was downright sizzling and swoony! "You set up residence in my heart...and have been squatting there ever since like a -- a -- squatter!" The last person Olivia Kane wants to be witness to her disastrous wedding day is her brother’s best friend. The boy she had a crush on, the friend she supported while deployed and the man who hurt and ignored her when he came back seven years ago. But now he’s hijacked her honeymoon for one and making an offer she should refuse. "Your mission, should you choose to accept it- and you will, Livvie- is to stay this week with me," he murmured, his voice a weapon of thong-melting destruction. Even though Flynn Cross has loved Olivia Kane since he was a teenager he knew he didn’t deserve her, not when her family saved him from his abusive alcoholic father, certainly not when he came back a broken man from war. But he won’t stand by and watch her suffer alone or in the wrong hands which are anyone else’s except his. He’ll give her anything and everything in the hopes that one week will turn into more. Can their budding relationship survive the truth about Flynn’s part in her wedding fiasco though? “You were off-limits then for a whole host of reasons but now, I’m taking what belongs to me.” Kate Meader’s books are irresistibly sexy and fun. I want to snatch up everything she writes knowing I’ll enjoy it. One Week to Score is fast paced, with sassy, flirty banter between a dirty talking alpha hero and a sharp and snarky heroine who have a long history and flaming hot chemistry. He’d wanted to give her this for so long. Give her pleasure and take his own with the one woman who’d been a constant in his life forever. Flynn and Olivia are as wonderful together as they are apart. Flynn is a take charge, domineering, cocky, dirty talker. I felt for him not believing he was good enough and loved that despite this, despite the bro-code (Olivia was his best friend's 'lil sister), and everything else he fought to get Olivia. Even if it was a bit dirty and underhanded, but you know what they say… all is fair in love! “Give him an inch and he'd give her nine.” Olivia had always lived under her brother’s shadow, her parents never expecting much of her. Finding out her fiancée only wanted her for her family connections was crushing, but I loved that she was strong and didn’t hesitate to fling snark and sarcasm Flynn’s way as well as love and understanding. “You’re going to need more than an average kissing game to get with me, Cross.” “Nothin’ average about that kiss.” She sighed. “Don’t beg. It’s so unTexan.” “Before the night’s through, sweets, I’ll be hearing your fuck-me-Flynn moans.” “In your Liv-filled dreams.” Back to the flaming hot chemistry and long standing history between Flynn and Olivia. Their friendship made me smile big and hooked me on page one. I really enjoyed how perfect they were for each other because of the friendship and support they had since they were young… “You don’t need my approval, your parents’, anyone else’s. But if it makes you feel better to know one person in the world thinks you’re amazing, then here goes… you slay me, Liv. Into little pieces. Always have.” …coupled with the irresistible attraction and love. The developing romance and fun push-pull kept me engaged through out. “You're so sure you have me, aren't you? That I'm going to fall into your d!scksand?" "My d!cksand?" "Like quicksand. But with your d!ck." One Week To Score is book #3 in the Tall, Dark and Texan series by Kate Meader. It is a fun, flirty, smoldering hot, standalone contemporary romance with a delicious alpha male, a vivacious heroine and a back and forth guaranteed to make you smile. Told from both points of view that has a happy ending. * I was given an ARC of this book courtesy of the author via NetGalley. Then there's the fact that Flynn is still her beloved brother's bestie and Olivia has never come first in anyone's eyes. It didn’t take One Week to Score in her latest installment because Kate Meader scored big time as she wrote one of my favorite July summer reads. Kate has truly kicked off summer with a bang as she wrote one HOT, SEXY, and PALPABLE LOVE STORY that will have you saying that Dressing Room scene…. “Umm yes please!" Seriously, I devoured this book in one sitting and couldn't wait to reread this book again. If I could shout to the romance community to read this book, I would. “Am I still the last guy on earth you’d open those pretty little thighs for, Liv?” And we’re back. “You’re going to need more than an average kissing game to get with me, Cross.”“Nothin’ average about that kiss.” She sighed. “Don’t beg. And in One Week to Score, Olivia’s wedding comes to an abrupt halt when she walks in on her fiance banging her maid of honor. Humiliated and angry, Olivia decides to drown her misery in alcohol and if there happens to be a hot male willing to have sex with her why not. When Olivia was already to have a random one night stand with a stranger, Flynn Cross made it known to Olivia that wasn’t going to happen while he was around. And so Mr. Clit Blocker put a halt to any ideas that Olivia had. Flynn has always had feelings for Olivia ever since he was a young teen living in the Kane’s household. Olivia was his everything and he tried to stay away and keep her at arm’s length since she was his best friend’s baby sister. But like a moth to a flame, Flynn knew this was his opportunity to finally make it known to Olivia that he wants her. Only her. But getting Olivia to see that becomes impossible when he knows that she is still angry at him for keeping her at arm’s distance for seven years. “Your mission, should you choose to accept it— and you will, Livvie— is to stay this week with me,” he murmured, his voice a weapon of thong-melting destruction. “We’re gonna fuck every last brain cell out of each other.” When Olivia decides to go on her honeymoon solo, she didn’t expect Flynn Cross to show up and she didn’t expect his offer. One week of sex. One week of being her fuck toy. As Olivia and Flynn embark on this one week of hot sex, old feelings begins to resurface. But what happens when their one week is up. Can Olivia trust Flynn to not break her heart like he did seven years ago? “There was a reason why she’d stayed away from him all these years. Not only did he have the power to hurt her on a soul-deep level, but her body had a mind and momentum of its own in his presence.” Kate Meader, I think I have to say this one more time. YOU ARE INDEED A TOP SHELF AUTHOR, who wrote a top shelf best friend little sister love story. Everything about One Week to Score I LOVE. I love Olivia’s feisty personality. I love Flynn and his sweet and dominant personality. And I especially LOVE that epilogue. All I can say is Flynn Cross you slay me with your unwavering love for Olivia Kane. So if you are looking for a love story that weaves friendship, banter, steam, and romance then look no further than One Week to Score. Hello, Kate Meader! You’ve just earned yourself a new fan-girl! “I’ll give you whatever you want whenever you want it. Any time of day, you need relief, just crook your finger and I’ll crook mine. Against you, inside you, deep as you need it. If I’m not around, text me and I’ll come, ready to make you come. For one week, I’ll fulfill every fantasy on demand and get you off so many times we’ll break records.” What I love about this book is the timeline. The fact that is whole book takes place in a week amazes me. It didn’t feel like it was only a week. This was not insta-love. I was sucked in from the beginning. I laughed so much in this book. If a book makes me laugh, it automatically bumps it up a full star, but this book didn’t even need a bump. Flynn and Olivia have known each other almost their whole lives. Flynn had a rough child, so he lived with Liv’s family. They have been through a lot together, at one point even being friends, until Flynn pushes Olivia away without any explanation. This causes the current animosity between Olivia and Flynn because Olivia doesn’t understand why he was such an asshole to her. Hate-to-Love Relationship. Check. She was also a Texas American princess, bright as the North Star, while he was the homeless on of an abusive alcoholic who relied on the Kanes’ charity to survive. Who lived on Olivia Kane’s smile like it was sunshine to a weed. My Flynn: My Liv: The book opens up on the day of Olivia’s wedding (no, not with Flynn), and she just found her ex-fiance cheating on her a few hours before the wedding. Flynn finds her at the bar and through a series of events, ends up with her on the honeymoon. Liv wants to sleep with any and all available men, but Flynn is not having it. Welcome, alpha caveman! And the swooning! Ugh, I need a hot Texan man callin’ me “Sweets.” ”Before the night’s through, sweets, I’ll be hearing your fuck-me-Flynn moans.” Flynn and Olivia have both been through a lot in their past: rough childhoods, failed relationships. But the story didn’t focus on the past. It was just enough to develop their characters, but the story still stayed in the present for the most part. And the present is steamy! This is my favorite type of writing, when an author can develop the characters through dialogue and behavior rather than having to jump back to the past. NO DRAMA/ANGST is the best!!! This was my first Kate Meader book, and I will be reading all of her books FOREVER! ARC courtesy of publisher in exchange for an honest review Find me on

Kate Meader has consistently hit the spot with her Tall, Dark and Texan series and One Week to Score doesn't disappoint. Flynn and Olivia featured fairly prominently in Brody and Emma's story and, with it clear that there was some history, along with Olivia's pending nuptials and Flynn's relationship ending, I couldn't wait to dive in and see how things would play out for this couple. I love the older brother's best-friend trope and this couple do it serious justice. They have the perfect love-hate relationship, Olivia hates, Flynn loves and between them they create sharp, witty banter, leading to some scorching action between them. "You think one kiss is enough for me to fall to my knees in thanks that you’re gracing me with your magic penis?" Whilst fairly short, Flynn and Olivia's romance never felt rushed and he was the right balance of charming and dirty to her stubborn and headstrong, but each have a vulnerable side, and it was this that balanced things out nicely with an injection of the feels. "You’re my best friend’s sister, the light to my dark, the woman who haunts my dreams." If you're looking for a light read that doesn't scrimp on the sexy with loveable characters who have a fabulous chemistry, then One Week to Score is definitely worth checking out. As is the entire series; it's one of the best to come from the Brazen imprint in a long time. Copy received courtesy of Entangled Publishing via NetGalley for an honest and unbiased opinion.

Flynn Cross is the white trash who can never measure up to the Kane's family, no matter how close his friendship is with the family. They have been avoiding their attraction for years due Flynn's friendship with Olivia's brother and after coming back from his tour in Iraq, he even went as far as to avoid contacting Olivia altogether, all for the sake of 'for her own good'. When Olivia's wedding got cancelled, Flynn decided that is time he finally make his move. I like the premise of the story, their obstacle is not just about breaking the bro-code, Flynn had some inferiority complex when it comes to the Kane family and after coming back from his tour, he even added more baggage to himself. However, the book spent too much time on their week long sexathon in Mexico instead of focusing on the real issue between them. I'm not complaining about how hot the book is, but it just felt a bit superficial and I didn't get to really connect with the characters. The part that I really like is the grovel scene towards the end and the sweet epilogue. Flynn and Olivia's banter is humorous as always, I just wish I get to really see them working things out in their hometown, instead of hiding out at the resort for almost the entire read. Overall, if you are looking for an easy short read with enough steam and doesn't have thick complicated plot, this is the one for you.

5 stars I loved One Week to Score! This was such a fun and entertaining read. Loved the storyline, it was well written with wonderful characters that are likable, relatable and will bring out all the feels. The Tall, Dark, and Texan series has been a great read, each book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend them all :) Thank you Entangled Publishing, LLC ~ Brazen via NetGalley for the advance copy.

I loved the scene with the dolphins that was so sweet of Flynn. What will happen when Liv discovers the real truth of what happened on her wedding day and the part that Flynn played in it? Will Flynn have to choose between the woman he loves and his best friend? Do these two have a future together? I loved getting more Brody Kane I LOVE HIM and I loved the epilogue. But Flynn wasn’t a good guy. Not then, not now. He was envy. He was greed. He was a man who’d stopped at nothing to have this woman, even if meant hurting her deeply. What Olivia Kane needs now after her wedding day so spectacularly crashed and burned, was to get drunk and have anonymous sex with a sexy stranger who could make her forget about finding her fiancé with his dick in her maid of honor. What she sure as hell does not need is her brother’s best friend, the man who broke her heart seven years ago, ruining her pity-party plans. He’d missed this woman, and he wanted to know her again. Flynn Cross knows that Liv has ever reason to hate him, even more when she finds out his hand in her wedding disaster. But he can’t stand by and watch her find solace in another man’s arms. Not when he’s more than willing to make her forget all her humiliation during the next week. But can these two keep it strictly between the sheets, when their feelings for each other have been burning in the background for years? Because if Flynn knew anything, it was that he had waited over ten years for the privilege of exploring that beautiful body, and no one else would touch her as long as it was within his power to stop it. I have wondered about Flynn since the first book when we met him and his fiancé. There was always something off about his interactions with her, like he wasn’t fully there, fully committed. And after this book, and seeing how he was with Olivia, it all made sense. Flynn is cocky, charming and a flirt. And he was all that with Liv, but also much more. He was caring and protective. And so broken after what happened to him in Iraq, that I just wanted to hug the idiot at times, and others shake him to get his head out of his ass. He tried so hard to do the right thing, making everything wrong, but luckily this time he finally got it right at the end. He was still the hottest piece of ass she’d ever seen. Good thing she could be objective about that. When you know someone is the devil, immunity to his charm is usually built in. I have loved Olivia since we met her in the previous book. She’s loud, funny and obnoxious, and I adore her. She has been in love with Flynn since she was thirteen, and they became good friends. She was there for him during his army tour, and heartbroken when he just suddenly cut her out of his life with no explanation. All her life she has always been second choice to everyone she cared about, her senator father, her regal mother, and Flynn. All she wants is someone to love her, to be their first choice. You slay me, Liv. Into little pieces. Always have.” Second-chance romances and I don’t work so well. It did bother me that Flynn didn’t pursue Olivia when he ended his tour, but I understood that after everything that happened to him, the guilt he felt, made him believe he wasn’t good enough for her. My only problem was that he did think he was good enough for his ex-fiancé, which doesn’t really explain why he couldn’t be good enough for Olivia. But I really enjoyed the explosive chemistry between Flynn and Olivia, and how hard he pursued her, even if it was only at the beginning to get the attraction out his system. Because he still didn’t think he was good enough for her. Which was sad. I enjoyed the bits about their pasts, seeing how close they were, and I loved that he made Olivia see how perfect she was, after her ex and her mother made her feel so bad about herself. The sexy times were hot, and I enjoyed the chemistry between these two. And the epilogue was just perfect for them and for this series. This romance had it all: second-chance romance, hate-lust, and best friend’s sister, and it was smoking! Kate Meader sure knows how to write scorching romance. This series was excellent and a must read for all romance fans.

-Solid contemporary romance series: Kate Meader has managed to craft three sets of interesting leads in this Tall, Dark and Texan series, and Olivia and Flynn may just be my favorites yet. -Love to hate to Love again: Livvie was on the verge of getting married, until she finds her fiance and her alleged BFF doing it at the church just before she’s about to walk down the aisle. What the ever loving hell, right? Well, Livvie hightails it to the bar and drowning her sorrows in some booze and in comes Flynn. -History is important: Flynn and Livvie worked at getting her brother Brody and Emma together in the last book, and the tension between them was thick. I wondered what had caused their animosity towards each other (or hers towards him mostly). Well, here you find out. They were actually friends and were pretty close, until he came back from his deployment in Iraq and cut her out of his life. They moved on and away from each other, and now, seven years and four months after he came back, Flynn’s laying claim to one week with Livvie. As you may have guessed by now, yep, romance happens. -Recipe for sexytimes: Take lots o’ sexual tension, then isolate in tropical setting, mix in long overdue conversations and serve up some delicious romance. There’s something about taking characters with history, throwing them in an isolated setting and then watching the sparks fly that can be super fun. This takes place in the span of one week, so it’s great that Ms. Meader can use the isolation as a way to focus in on Livvie and Flynn. At that point, there’s no distractions, just them and their chemistry, their connection and you see quickly if these characters work together or not. Livvie and Flynn have buckets of chemistry. Their banter was hilarious, the scenes flowed well, and their chemistry fairly leaped off my kindle. -Standalone but better in context: Could you read this book without reading the earlier books? Yes. As I said, the story takes place away from family and friends and focuses on Livvie and Flynn’s relationship, so it could work. However, there are scenes in the second book that would help in the enjoyment of this tale. For example... -Soft spot for manipulative heroes: Here’s where seeing Flynn and Livvie in the earlier books (at least the second one) really helps. Flynn’s a manipulator. He’s the matchmaker who set in motion Brody and Emma’s romance, so it’s no surprise that his instinct isn’t to just blurt out the truth, but perhaps nudge circumstances into place so the truth can come out on its own. He is dogged in his pursuit of her, and frankly, I was totally ok with it. Knowing this, when the final obstacle comes into play, it wasn’t a big shock. By that time, however, I’d spent so much time reading how much he loves Livvie, that forgiving was easy and quick. -Maybe a little more backstory?: I adored Livvie and could understand her frustration because so often she came in second, if at all, in other people’s affections. I think that her snarky attitude worked for her. However, I also think getting more of the actual scenes of when he cut her out of his life, instead of the glimpses you get from their memories, would have helped in softening her edges and balanced the scales, so to speak. Much like their shared memories of their close moments (the prologue was great way to “set the scene” with them), it’s when I got to read more of their past and saw how that played into their present, that I could understand how these two were destined for each other. Livvie and Flynn were sexy, funny good times and a great way to wrap this series. If you, like myself, are into sexy, funny contemporaries, Ms. Meader is an author to look out for and this series is just another tasty treat in her catalog. I’d recommend it. **ARC provided by publisher via netgalley for review** For more reviews, visit

I'd never done a best friend's sister story before, partly because I'd always worried that this conflict, while a delicious way to kick start a plot, can wander into predictability. After a little sneaking around and oh no, big bro can never find out about all our illicit sexytimes, readers might start to say, so what? fess up and take your punishment like the adults you are! With Flynn and Olivia, I knew I'd have to add a few more bumps to their road to true love. How about an old friendship that was blossoming into something else before it mysteriously upended? Or an acute case of hate-lust that can only be sated with a beach resort fling ... on what should have been the heroine's honeymoon? Add in a disastrous wedding day that imploded with a little help from our hero, and it looks like Flynn's breach of the bro code is the least of his problems. I always like a little gray in my heroes, guys who don't always do the right thing but usually do it for the right reasons. That's Flynn, whose heart (and another important part of his anatomy!) is so big that it rules his brain, leading to some pretty sketchy decisions. Sometimes things have to go a lot wrong before they can go a little right--and when it's as sexily wrong as One Week to Score, that little bit of right can probably wait through a few sizzling bouts in the sack. Enjoy! xoxo Kate

Olivia Kane’s wedding day has just imploded spectacularly. Shots lined up at the bar? Bring it. Hot stranger on the hook? Come on down. What this party does not need is six feet and change of home-grown Texas cockiness in the form of her brother’s best friend, the man who broke her heart seven years ago. She’s the woman he has to have . . . Flynn Cross won’t stand by while Liv finds sensual solace in the arms of a stranger, not when his own hard-for-her body is more than up for the task. For one week, he’ll make her honeymoon-for-one a sizzling party for two. Breaking the rules, one steamy night at a time . . . But the taboo they’re breaking is only the beginning . . . and Flynn’s part in Liv’s wedding debacle could bring about their end. What I Liked: Even the Score was the first book I'd read by Kate Meader, and it was one of my favorite romance novels of 2015. Hunter and Tess's story was wonderful, romantic, and very steamy. I read Taking the Score and also liked it, though not as much as its predecessor. One Week to Score falls somewhere in-between those two novels! It was a fantastic conclusion to the series. Twenty minutes before reaching the altar, Liv discovers her groom and her maid of honor getting it on. What was supposed to be the happiest day of her life turns into the worst day of her life. She's not heartbroken (her relationship with Peter was somewhat politically arranged), but she's angry. She decides to go on the honeymoon trip to Mexico anyway... and Flynn Cross decides to invite himself along. Best friend of her brother Brody, Flynn used to be one of Liv's favorite people, when they were younger. But now all they do is bicker and fight. But Flynn is determined to be there for Liv, and he doesn't want to see her do anything she'd regret later. He offers to be her sex buddy for the trip, since she's pretty desperate to get laid and forget all about the almost-wedding. But what is between Liv and Flynn goes so much deeper than the surface, and they'll have to face their past and realize that they've been in love with each other all along. This book is somewhat similar, initially, to Down for the Count by Christine Bell, which is one of my favorite Brazen books of all time. Bride finds groom with maid of honor, bride goes on honeymoon, bride's former crush and childhood friend goes with her, things get hot. I loved Down for the Count, so I was sure I'd like this one too. Plus, Kate Meader's books are so great. Full of humor and steamy steam and realness, her books are so enjoyable. I've wanted to read Flynn's story since reading book one! Flynn came from nothing, and was taken in by the Kane family when he was young. He's always felt welcome in the family, but in the back of his head, he's also always felt like a charity case. So he dropped out of Texas A&M and enlisted in the army. He communicated with Liv a lot, when he was in Iraq, but then an accident happened, and he cut off communication with her. She never knew why. From then on, the two of them could barely be in the same room together. Liv assumed the worst and Flynn never corrected her, and seven years later, they're always fighting. Flynn is a charming, charismatic, sweet guy, and very obviously a romantic. It's clear that he's always loved Liv, but being in the army and then in a near-fatal accident messed with him. He never told Liv the truth, because he thought it was best for her. Liv is a bold, smart woman who doesn't like the box that her mother and her former fiance put around her. She doesn't want to be the wife of a congressman who doesn't want her. She's passionate and lively and she's always loved Flynn... even years later, after he stopped communicating with her with no reason. Second-chance romances are always fun and sweet, but I especially love the hate-to-love ones. Liv and Flynn fight all the time, and their banter is so entertaining! I also love how silly the two of them really are, when they're not fighting. Sometimes they settle into old routines and the Liv and Flynn of the past shine through, and it's cute to see. Flynn was always the one to make Liv happy, and Liv always made Flynn feel worth it. These two have such great chemistry! All the built-tension from over the years leaks over and explodes, and these two don't even get close to how much they want each other in the one week they were in Mexico, on Liv's "honeymoon". Lots of steamy scenes, though most are fairly short. I like that the climax and ending are somewhat low on drama! Liv finds out some things, and there is a confrontation, and she's shocked at first. Flynn is the one that has to apologize and do the chasing, and it makes sense, in this story. I like how Liv handles everything overall. And I like that the whole thing was resolved intelligently and not too dramatically. The humor was great! I liked how funny all of the books in this series was, how "real" the writing was, the voice of the book. There was something refreshing and real about the writing style. Overall, a solid conclusion to this wonderful series! Hunter and Tess are still my favorite of the three couples, but I loved getting into the heads of all three Score men (Hunter, Brody, Flynn). I liked the epilogue of this book, giving us a sneak peek of the lives of Brody/Emma and Flynn/Liv. I just wish we could have seen Hunter/Tess as well. What I Did Not Like: This book is sooooo incredibly short. The eARC is only 139 pages. I'm used to stating my disappointment at how short Brazen novels are, but this one definitely felt short. I wish some of the steamy scenes were longer (I think there was only one "long" one - the rest were very short). All were well-written, and the book in general didn't feel rushed at all, but the book could have been longer. Would I Recommend It: In general, I like the series and would recommend it. I think I'd recommend book one the most (Even the Score), as it was the steamiest and most enjoyable. Book two was a little weird, but still a great read. This book was fantastic, but a little too short. I like the series and would recommend these to anyone who likes steamy adult romance novels. But book one is the best one! Rating: 4 stars. Like I said, this was a great conclusion to the series! I liked it, and the trilogy in general. I hope that Meader will write more Brazen books, though I will definitely check out her other published novels. She writes really hot romance novels with well-developed characters and a lovely side of humor!

I appreciated that Kate Meader found a good balance. You need to feel that the hero is a "catch" but at the same time, it is nice when that hero isn't perfect. But, this can be tough and when the hero is too flawed, it starts to be a difficult hero to be attracted to as a reader. I recommend this one. The characters, story and packing were good. The writing was strong...and it was HOT!

I loved how Olivia tried to put up a fight and not let her heart be captured—again—by Flynn. His departure from her life seven years ago was heart-wrenching. There’s just something irresistible about Flynn, even after Olivia learns all about his part in her wedding debacle. And Flynn. Damn. The man has been in serious denial for years. And he’s bound and determined to make Olivia his. For once and for all. And he is very good about branding Olivia as his—multiple times. Multiple hot and sexy times. Multiple hot and sexy times in one night. Swoon. I’d love to have a Flynn in my life—someone who’ll fight for me. Sweep me off my feet. Make me swoon. Guess that’s just what makes an amazing book boyfriend. And Flynn definitely is amazing. ~ Missy, 5 stars ~~~ YESSSS! I have been anxiously awaiting Flynn’s story throughout the entire Tall, Dark, and, Texan series, and it was so good! It was a fantastic best friend’s little sister, taboo, forbidden romance. “She was his best friend’s sister, off-limits, and so what if he wanted to be the guy who made her forget her trouble?” Flynn is Brody’s best friend. He was taken in by the Kane’s when he was younger due to his abusive father. And though he lived and worked with the Kane’s, and was even in the military, he knew he was not good enough for Oliva Kane. Olivia has had a crush on her brother’s best friend since they were children. After years of friendship and lusting, Flynn cut her out of his life completely, leaving behind only hatred. “He swallowed. Hard. And then his cock got on the “hard” train and he was officially on an express to hell.” Because who the fuck lusts after a woman – after his best friend’s sister – when she was having the worst day of her life?” After finding her fiancée with another woman on her wedding day, Olivia decides to take her honeymoon alone and forget her cheating ex with some hot men. Only the only hot men she could find was the one she hated – Flynn. “A knight in beat-up armor is still a fucking knight.” This story was sexy and steamy. Those Mexican nights were muy caliente! It was also full of laughter, love, and happiness. I adored seeing Brody and Emma again, and loved the epilogue! This was a fantastic addition to this series and it just shows me how much I need a tall, dark Texan in my life! ~ Tiffany, 4.5 stars

I love Kate Meader! I have read several of her books and when I saw this one, I knew I had to review it! This book offers a favorite theme of mine, a delicious forbidden brothers best friend romance. Flynn is so yummy and he has been in love with Liv for years. She has had feelings for him too, but is mad because he broke off contact with her so many years ago. But when her wedding derails, Flynn finds the perfect opportunity to escape with her to satisfy his cravings and temper her own. What can I love Kate Meader! While I loved this story, I really thought that Liv was too mean to Flynn. This guy has his heart on his sleeve, is trying to protect her, and she is too wrapped up in herself to notice. All she does is argue most of the time. Some steamy scenes and a delightful HEA make this a save for me. I also wish that it was a bit longer so we could actually enjoy more parts where Liv wasn't being so argumentative and mean and enjoy their time together as a couple. However, Kate Meader knows how to entertain and delight her readers with beautifully written stories that offer a build up of great things to come and romance that makes you sigh.

I wanted to go back in and be in the moment with these two people who have loved each other for so long, but life kept them apart find what they've both wanted. I wanted to bask in the glow of the love that shined off of them. I didn't want this book to end. Last year Kate Meader published one of my favorite books of 2015 and I can honestly say with One Week to Score she has absolutely published one of my favorite books of 2016! There is something so right about a hero who worships the heroine with everything that he has, but makes her realize she doesn't need anyone else's approval but her own. There is something special about a heroine who has loved the hero for over 15 years and despite the mistakes he's made can accept all the pieces of him even the ones that make her angry and sad. When two people who have had such an arduous journey it is satisfying to see that despite it all they can let everything go and just love one another. This book was perfect on so many levels and if I could give it an infinite amount of stars I absolutely would do it. Olivia Kane has loved her big brother's best friend since he dragged him home when he was 15 and she was 13. She loved him before the feelings of want came, she loved him for the fact that Flynn Cross saw the real her; not the person everyone else tried to make her into; H-E-R and though their relationship changed as they got older her feelings did not, even though she'd liked to think they had when after returning from his stint if Afghanistan he completely ignored her. When Olivia turned 16 and lost all of her little girl looks Flynn was struck dumb by her, but a warning from his best friend and her mother set him on a path to not touch. Her letters, care packages and Skype calls got him through most of his time overseas, but then an accident caused him to break contact and while he wants her happy; so he's not at all sad about exposing her cheating fiancé on their wedding day except that he doesn't like the destructive path she seems to be hell bent on starting down. There's such a fine line between love and hate and even though Olivia (Liv) tries to pretend she hates Flynn it is obvious from their first interaction that is not the case on either side. These two have history and getting past that history and past the fact that Flynn is breaking the "bro" code and will more than likely disappoint her mother, the woman that literally saved him, might slow him down but when it comes down to it he loves Liv and will do anything to prove it to her. Flynn is one of those heroes that comes off as a bit crass and cocky, but as this book played out it was easy to see that he is genuinely a good guy especially when it comes to Liv. Liv has issues stemming from a mother who wanted her to be more lady like and a father who felt she didn't measure up to her big brother so it is hard for her to trust and believe in Flynn and given his recent history, it is also understandable. I liked that they had a somewhat difficult path to overcome and that they had to really talk, share and communicate to move past everything. I could go on and on and on about this books (seriously, like until you wanted to hit me) but instead I'm just going to urge you to go to your favorite bookseller and pick up this gem of a romance. You will not be disappointed. In what has been a spectacular series One Week to Score shines brighter that the Texas sun in the middle of summer! Review copy provided for an honest review.

One week to Score is the third story in the Tall, Dark, and Texan series by Kate Meader, about a group of men who work together at Score Property. This one combines a second chance romance with the tried and true best friend’s sibling story in a sexy and fun romance about Olivia and Flynn. They were friends as teenagers, especially when Flynn came to live with Olivia’s wealthy family briefly due to his friendship with her brother Brody. Even after both reaching adulthood, they kept in touch for a while until Flynn cut Olivia off after his stint in the army, suffering from some PTSD and a case of ‘I’m not good enough for you’ blues. After not seeing each other for several years, Flynn ends up as the date of one of the bridesmaids at Olivia’s wedding – the same bridesmaid she catches with her now ex-fiance right before the ceremony. Then Flynn not only blocks her attempts at finding a consolation body in the bar where she’s attempting to drown her sorrows, but he has the gall to end up on her honeymoon flight and sharing the room that was supposed to be for her and her new husband. Flynn offers her his body for a week of uninhibited fun, a chance to ease her heartache and give into the attraction between them without consequences. But can Olivia trust the one man who once broke her heart? I’ve enjoyed every story in this series, and this is another example of what I like about Kate Meader’s writing. Her characters are three-dimensional – for all their pluses they have some flaws but this makes them feel like real people. Flynn comes across as a guy with a bit of a playboy attitude but one who takes his responsibilities to Olivia, sister of his best friend and partner Brody, seriously. He knows that he hurt her when he cut off their friendship when he was injured overseas, and continued to keep her out of his life. But he definitely isn’t going to stand by and let her end up in the arms of a stranger. When he follows her on her honeymoon trip, it’s to make sure that if she’s going to console herself with anyone, it’s going to be him. Truth be told he’s had strong feelings for Olivia for years, first as a friend and then more. But her high society background was no match for his damaged upbringing, and now as a wounded ex-soldier he really thinks of her as out of his league, at least as far as a relationship is concerned. But given the chance to show her how he feels with his body, if not his words, he’s going to take the opportunity to make her forget the pain of betrayal. Olivia comes across as a spirited and fun loving woman who is heartbroken to discover that the man she was going to marry turned out to be a jerk. If the truth be told, their relationship had never been quite what she’d hoped for, but she’d been happy to settle for what she got. Now though, stuck with Flynn where no-one knows that they are together, and with Flynn offering her a week of pleasure, she’s not about to refuse. Even though she knows it will probably not end well for her heart, she’s all in. Their scenes are steamy but also touched with emotion as Flynn eventually shares with her some of his experiences in Iraq and why he cut off their friendship. Regaining their ability to share with each other is the first step to cementing their bond even more, and the sex just adds to that. But before they can be together at home, they’ve got a few hurdles to get over and some secrets to deal with that will test their newfound happiness. Fortunately, things get smoothed over just in time for the happy ending we expect. This was an entertaining story, a sexy romance with likeable characters and a great addition to the series. 4 stars. Kate Meader really should write a book on the art of the quip, I'm sure it would be a bestseller because she knows how to layer her characters' dialogues with lots of one liners and ONE WEEK TO SCORE serves up some of that fun alongside lots of scorching hot sexy moments and characters anyone would love to spend time with. Ms. Meader combines two of my favorite things to read about - friends-to-lovers and brother's best friend - into a really great read. After catching her fiancé in a compromising situation with her maid of honor on her wedding day and having Flynn Cross front and center to witness her humiliation, Olivia Kane is off on her solo honeymoon, a one-woman force ready to cut lose in Mexico and get her freak on with any hot and willing cabana boys. Flynn will be damned if he sits by and allows Olivia find comfort in the arms of any other man, after wanting her for so long and what better way to get in on the action than offer his body for her pleasure, for one week only? And so it begins. Livia and Flynn ceased hostilities briefly to bring Brody and Emma together and this will mean another cease-fire, but with their history and the emotions swirling underneath, will this week in paradise cost more than they can afford to give? The story-line is not anything new, but the characters are everything one can hope for. They are confident, independent and strong, with a bit of vulnerability, the banter is sooo much fun and the chemistry is off the charts! Olivia and Flynn's history and their issues with their families give depth to what would ordinarily be a very quick, insta-lust and love kind of romance and what better location than the sunny Mexican beaches? This book has something to satisfy every reader, so if you enjoy sizzling chemistry between your characters, you'll love this book just as much as the person who loves some emotional intensity in their romance. For those of you who read the preceding book in the series, Taking The Score, you will have already had a glimpse at Flynn and Olivia's explosive relationship and in this book that relationship, well, explodes, both figuratively and orgasmically. The start of the book finds Olivia drowning her sorrows at a hotel bar on her wedding day after finding her fiance in the throws of it with her maid of honour, and like any self-respecting woman in her situation, Olivia is determined to make up for lost time by having lots of one-night stands. Enter Flynn, a perfect candidate and willing to be used for his body - the only downside being the oodles of history between him and Olivia and of course the ever-present "bro-code". Whilst the fact that Flynn's best friend Brody is Olivia's brother is of course the source of some tension, Meader does what most authors do not in this trope and avoids making it the main source of conflict between the couple. That honour belongs to the fact that throughout their friendship, Olivia feels that Flynn has been blowing hot/cold and coming in and out of her life as he pleases. Now Flynn has to prove that he is here to stay. This book is a Brazen and needless to say full of sexy, hot scenes so best avoided as a lunchtime read at work!
