Availability: Ready to download

Considered one of the defining albums of the 1990s, Radiohead’s OK Computer was released at a pivotal point in music history—during one of the last years when an album was meant to be listened to in its entirety and songs were not yet available for individual download. This guide provides track-by-track dissection of every song produced during the OK Computer recording ses Considered one of the defining albums of the 1990s, Radiohead’s OK Computer was released at a pivotal point in music history—during one of the last years when an album was meant to be listened to in its entirety and songs were not yet available for individual download. This guide provides track-by-track dissection of every song produced during the OK Computer recording sessions, including B-sides, and illustrates how the 1997 album is a collection of songs purposefully placed next to one another. Themes prevalent on the album—such as fear of the new millennium, paranoia, political sloganeering, and suicide—and its artistic and political influences are explored, while discussions of the state of the music industry during the album’s release provide rare insight into the improbability of a similarly phenomenal record ever being created.

A phenomenally dumb book with a tendency to shoehorn every conceivable reference while aping the conversational style of erstwhile music critics turned littérateurs Nick Hornby and Chuck Klosterman with none of their charm, intelligence or wit. Almost entirely devoid of insight, while occasionally offering up actual anti-insights, such as the mistaken idea that all Radiohead super fans are invariably male (half or more of those that I know are female) and some weird idea about how Thom Yorke sho A phenomenally dumb book with a tendency to shoehorn every conceivable reference while aping the conversational style of erstwhile music critics turned littérateurs Nick Hornby and Chuck Klosterman with none of their charm, intelligence or wit. I wouldn't have finished the thing were it not for my fascination with even the most banal Radiohead trivia.

I want a perfect body. I want a perfect soul.

Interesting read, if for subject only. Found myself getting anxious for the book to end. Felt like the author was afraid to draw conclusions.

Pedestrian prose, but adequately argued case for OK COMPUTER as the "last classic rock album". Somethign else to blame KID A for! Pedestrian prose, but adequately argued case for OK COMPUTER as the "last classic rock album". Somethign else to blame KID A for!
