During the time of the Great War, one Italian immigrant family struggles to find their place in the United States. The three Leone sisters love and care for each other, but each is distinctly different and looks for their own niche in the changing world around them. Rosalia is the middle sister, devoted to her family and God. When she falls in love with the shy and kind Dan During the time of the Great War, one Italian immigrant family struggles to find their place in the United States. The three Leone sisters love and care for each other, but each is distinctly different and looks for their own niche in the changing world around them. Rosalia is the middle sister, devoted to her family and God. When she falls in love with the shy and kind Dan, it is against his mother’s wishes. His family tradition dictates Dan must join the priesthood, but in his heart, he wants nothing more than to take Rosa as his bride. But how can Rosa, who puts so much importance on God and family, ask him to turn his back on both? Blond with blue eyes, Angelina is the baby of the family. Modern and wild, she throws herself into the make-believe world of silent films and longs for the same romantic love she sees on screen. When her heart is dazzled by a handsome Cuban, she doesn’t realize that he hides a dark secret from her until it is too late. The only sister to have been born in Sicily, Giovanna is a blend of traditional and modern values. She works in the local cigar factory as an esteemed roller and teaches English at the local Italian Club. While she longs for a family of her own, she has yet to find the right man—until two vastly different men appear in her life, and she must choose between the steadfast Giorgio and the brash and charismatic Carlo.

Nicola knows how to take a reader back in time and enjoy the lives of the characters. This time she takes us to Tampa, Florida to the Italian section of the city where we meet three sisters. The book is almost like 3 mini stories as each section is devoted to a sister meeting someone and falling in love. It's an enjoyable read. Nicola is a good writer and her storytelling makes the reader get lost in the lives of the characters. Nicola knows how to take a reader back in time and enjoy the lives of the characters. *** I received a copy of this book from the author through a Goodreads giveaway. This did not affect my review in any way. *** I enjoyed reading the story of the Leone sisters. At first, I was a little disappointed that this was three separate stories in the same book, rather than three romances weaved together. I soon realized it would have been highly unrealistic that all three sisters would have found love at the same time, and that the chosen format was the best choice. I soon realized it would have been highly unrealistic that all three sisters would have found love at the same time, and that the chosen format was the best choice. My apologies to the author for doubting her at first! ;) Furthermore, the author did a great job at making this one coherent novel, and it does read like only one story. I liked the second and third story much more than the first. Surprisingly, the plot of the first story, Rosa's story, was the one who interested me the most when I first read the synopsis of the book. But as I read it, it seemed incomplete... In fact, it felt like the whole part of the story where Rosa and Dan fall in love seemed to be missing. (view spoiler)[Wanting to get married after one date seemed a bit quick for me. (hide spoiler)] I get that the focus of the story was their struggles rather than their romance, but I would have liked to read about their love story nonetheless. Also, although simple sentences is not my preferred writing style, I did get used to it fairly quickly and ended up enjoying it. The main characters were very well developed. By the end of the story, I felt I really knew the Leone family, and I love that in a book. A lot of time and research must have been put into the story as there was a lot of detail about the time and place... sometimes even a little to much, I would say. ;) Overall, I give Seasons of Love four stars and did enjoy it even though it was not one of my favorite books.

Charming story I love reading Italia Nicola's books. She has such a wonderful way with dialogue. This book about three Italian immigrant sisters is an easy read with so much information. We are taken into the thoughts, culture and feelings of an Italian family living on Florida, and specifically into the intimate lives, one by one, of the three sisters as they each experience adult love and relationships for the first time. These interactions seem so innocent by today's dating standards. It's all Charming story I love reading Italia Nicola's books. She has such a wonderful way with dialogue. I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Seasons of Love"! It was fascinating to read about a time and place I knew nothing about, and the writing was so good that I didn't want to put the book down!
