This is the only Boxcar Children book that I've read which has a bunch of typo errors! For example, the book once referred to Henry as a "she" instead of "he". (Amusing, but errors like these kinda distract me from the story!) Aside from the grammar mistakes, this Boxcar book is a good one. The story line of having a Detective contest was a great idea. Some of the clues used for the contest were clever - ones I had trouble figuring out myself. The ending is satisfying, too. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. That was a quick read! I started and finished it over lunch! I checked it out because of my new interest in geocaching. The Boxcar Children (the Alden kids) enter a contest put on by a local radio station, and win after they find clues around town to solve the puzzle. It wasn't called geocaching in this story, since most geocachings are single finds--but some have clues like that. Anyway, I understand why my 2nd grade students enjoyed this series back in the early to mid-1990s. I'm told the book That was a quick read! I started and finished it over lunch!
