So, you're probably wondering why I bother to rate these. Well, my four-year-old daughter can barely go two nights without me reading these to her before she goes to sleep. As soon as we're done with our library collection she begs to go back for more. We play goblin and fairy, and I'm not sick of them yet even though we've probably read 15 of them. No, she's not learning much about weather, or pets, or gemstones or whatever the series is about, but it has created warm and comfortable mother-daughter memories for my girl and me.

Fantasy: The Weather Fairies, is a chapter book series. However, I chose to read "Pearl The Cloud Fairy," form this chapter book series. This is a magical book about lifting others up and encouraging others. In this fantasy, clouds change colors which helps the mood and uplifting's of others. They must use magic to help save the day. In a 4th grade classroom, I would use this book to teach about the genre fantasy. I would also use this book to teach about lifting others up. One activity that I would do with my students, is to have them lift at least one person up during the day and tell a friend. Pearl The Cloud Fairy is a WOW book for me because I think it is important to lift others up when they are down. We all need a little encouragement sometimes. I also like this book because I think the weather can play a role in others moods. I admire the magic in these chapter book series!

Eve liked it. It is a silly book about a fairy and 2 girls who find a feather (one of many that need found throughout the series to bring back to life a rooster/weather vane). It was not well written, but a quick read that Eve enjoyed.

Yet another rainbow magic book I would have loved to read as a child. I especially liked the ending in this one. I remember the excitement I felt at such news when I was younger (and still do even though I’m nearing my forties)

Will they be able to find it before the goblins create chaos? The Rainbow Magic books are perfect for young girls to introduce them to chapter books. Each story is short (5-10 minutes) with plenty of illustrations. The stories are adventurous and full of magic with special powers and abilities. Although every book follows the same type of story line, the variety in fairies and obstacles is enough to keep young girls interested as they are introduced to a new fairy in each book, hence the titles of the books. Ideal for: young children aged 5-8 years old, especially girls. Note: These books are best if read in the correct order. The Rainbow Magic books are split into different series: the first series is The Rainbow Fairies, the second is The Weather Fairies, then The Party Fairies etc. It is best to read through the series in chronological order as characters and objects reappear in later series that readers won't understand without having read the earlier series first. Additionally, it is best to read the books in each series in the correct order too as events from previous books are mentioned in later books. However, this isn't crucial. To make sure the series makes sense overall, it would be best to make sure you read the first book first and the last book last. All the books in between could be read in any order.

My four year old daughter loves these! And SURPRISE! my two year old son will actually sit and listen to one at a time. They are VERY predictable, and not so magical for me, not like "the little white horse" or "the never girls" BUT they are perfect, quick reads for my daughter and a great transition between picture books and chapter books. There are small pencil drawings on most of the pages and every few pages has a full length picture, similar to the Magic Tree House books. She loves them and that is all I care about. I do wish the fairies didn't dress so........trashy. (Really? a cocktail dress and thigh high boots on some of them? These are for young girls!) But I usually skip over the descriptions, or edit them, and we don't spend a lot of time investigating the covers like we would with another book. The rest of the stories are very appropriate for young girls and just magical enough to prompt role playing and imagination. More importantly, we are branching into LOTS of other books due to the realization that she can sit through and enjoy a chapter book like this. YAY!

Both Rachel and Kirsty carry on their mission to get Doodle’s feathers back again. Just like the other Weather Fairy stories, I think that this easy to read book will appeal to a higher ability reader in year 2 and children in lower KS2. I think that this book would be enjoyed as part as a free reading activity or part as guided reading. During guided reading, the children will be able to discuss the content of the book and discuss emotions/feelings, friendships and courage. This is another in the Weather Fairies series of books, this one being based on a fairy named Pearl. Kirsty and Rachel see something very unusual going on; people are behaving in a very strange, usually depressed manner. I enjoyed this book because there was actual differences in the story line. There wasn't just Kirsty and Rachel going out and looking for something, there was a B story (the story that isn't part of the main story line). (My overall review for the rainbow magic series) These books were so magical to me as a child. They really got me into reading and I was so addicted. They helped me learn the colours of the rainbow and entertained me for several years. The books aren't very good. I've tried reading them again because I was interested in what I saw in them. The books are very similar and repetitive but to child version of me, they were completely perfect! (My overall review for the rainbow magic series) These books were so magical to me as a child. I did not like when the goblins and Jack Frost were there because Jack Frost and the goblins are mean. These books made my childhood. I spent so many of childhood days reading them, swapping them with the other girls at school, and collecting more and more. I'll definitely be passing my collection on to my future children. These books made my childhood.
