With the latest craze of adult coloring books, there is even adult coloring Bibles for adults to connect more with God while studying His Word. My problem with coloring books and Bibles is my patience. I have no patience for coloring. Even as a child, I really didn't like coloring. I flew through my art projects in a matter of days when the teachers allowed us to have weeks to finish them. They were done and earned an A, but I worked faster. So even as an adult, I still have no patient for coloring. But when Thomas Nelson came out with the Journal the Word Bible with wider margins, it peeked my interest. I LOVE to take notes in my Bible and write all over my margins, but there is never enough room. But the Journal the Word Bible has TWO inches of extra margins space next to the single column Words of God. There is even lines in the margins for someone like me who is OCD and likes things neat. This will be an awesome addition to add my thoughts that will stay for a long time. While the inside of the NKJV captures my attention, the outside cover is hardback teal with a floral arrangement gracing the front cover. It is pretty and easy to hold, even though it is pretty thick. Inside, there is a blue ribbon for place marking. One of my favorite features is the lay flat spine. Nothing is more annoying than a book or Bible that flops close while I'm reading it. This will allow me to read and record without losing my place. Overall, I have scanned a number of the coloring Bibles, and I didn't want something that would distract me from studying God's Word. With the Journal the Word Bible, I believe the Bible will be one that I will cherish and use during my study time. This would be a great Bible to pass on to my sons when they are older to cherish. Just like I have my grandparents Bible in my library. I highly recommend the Journal the Word Bible for fans of journals and studying the Bible but don't want to color. I received a complimentary copy of the NKJV Journal the Word Bible Large Print from Thomas Nelson Publishing and the opinions stated are all my own.

Thank you, Thomas Nelson Bibles, for this beautifully crafted Journal The Word Bible to read and review! You thought of everything! From the weight of the paper it's printed on, to the space provided for creative reflection, the ribbon place marker, and the fact that it lays flat. I've written in the margins of every Bible I've ever owned. This is the first one I've owned that is specifically intended for the reader of The Word to actively and creatively engage with what is read. Both the King James Version (KJV) and the New King James Version (NKJV) are available. This would make a great gift for anyone and Christmas is just around the corner! So was I, until I found a lovely new version from Thomas Nelson, entitled “NKJV Journal the Word Large Print Bible: Reflect, Journal, or Create Art Next to Your Favorite Verses”. From the floral-fabric encased hardcover to the thick, cream-colored pages, this Bible delighted me from the start. Of course, the special feature of this edition was also a bonus - the lightly ruled lines vertically bordering one side of each page allow for plenty of room to include notes, reflections, or even art next to the verses themselves. Overall, this Bible is perfect for everyday reading. It is definitely not a study Bible, because it contains no concordance, commentary, maps, indexes, etc. Instead, this edition is designed with a very easy-reading font and print size, a unique single-column format, and pleasantly thick pages. It is also a red-letter edition. Without question, I would recommend this Bible to anyone looking for an edition that will not distract them with commentary, maps, or other features, but instead will allow space to document their OWN thoughts, reflections, prayers, and art. In a world filled with chaos and noise, opening the “NKJV Journal the Word Bible” to its clean, easy-reading pages is like a breath of fresh air - and I think we could all use a little of that in our lives! I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Do you have a favorite Bible? I do. Mine is a compact, burgundy leather-bound, NIV Bible, which my new husband gave me for Christmas 26 years ago. Well-worn and filled with my handwritten notations, I’ve already replaced its binding once, and will probably do so again before my lifetime is done. It is my go-to Bible that never travels with me because I could never replace it if it were lost. While I do have my favorite, that doesn’t preclude my trying something new for a while. In fact, I seek those opportunities in order to keep my Bible-reading fresh. Which is precisely why I welcomed the chance to check out this new Journal the Word™ Bible in NKJV. And friends, I like it. A lot. As mentioned above, I have always been a note-taker, marking dates, cross references, and aha moments into the puny NKJV Journal the Word Bible feature + giveaway!margins of my go-to Bible. But with this Bible — the space! For journaling, notes, doodles…whatever helps you zero in on certain words or ideas so that you can better commit them to heart and mind. Perfect for creative types. And, bonus, the paper is not of the onion-skin variety, either. I wouldn’t say it’s sturdy, exactly–if it were, its bulk would be prohibitive–but your pen won’t easily bleed through the paper, either. Speaking of size, this version is hefty, a good two times the size of my other Bible. It’s not an edition I will be tucking into my handbag or even my suitcase for travel. This is the large-print edition, which I highly recommend. The print size makes it so much easier on the eyes, an attribute I appreciate the older I get. The hardcover and binding allow the pages to easily lay open flat, which enhances my comfort as the book rests in my lap or on the table in front of me. A note about the NKJV: as I already remarked, I make it a practice to read different translations in order to keep the material fresh. Before reading this one, I wasn’t particularly familiar with the NKJV. But I found it accessible to today’s contemporary reader while still retaining much of the poetic beauty of the original KJV. I recommend taking the time to read the preface, which explains the history, philosophy, and scholastic rigor behind this translation. It will serve to bolster your trust in its scholarship. FYI, Journal the Word™ Bible is available in KJV as well. So yes, I like my NKJV Journal the Word™ Bible and predict it will become a valuable addition to my collection. If you’re seeking a new Bible with some staying power, I recommend this one. Of course, Bibles also make great gifts. With Christmas winking at us from around the corner, you may want to add this one to your shopping list. Thanks to BlogAbout and Thomas Nelson for providing me this copy free of charge. All opinions are mine.

The NKJV Journal the Word™ Bible is exactly what I was looking for. This Bible is the perfect for journaling, taking notes, and creating beautiful scripture inspired art. The first thing noted is that this a big Bible. You probably wouldn’t want to per say carry it along to church Sunday morning every week or to a weekly Bible study. For me, this Bible is perfect to use at home during my quiet times with God. The Bible is hardcover and features a beautiful floral design on the front. The teal blue coloring looks lovely and works well with the cover of the Bible and with the cream colored pages within. When open the pages lay flat whether when placed on a table or when held by hand. There’s a ribbon bookmark to keep place. The pages inside are lined with wide margins. The lines, in my opinion, are light enough not to overpower any art I create inside. Though the pages are thicker than most Bibles, I would suggest doing research before using any sort of art or ink mediums on the pages. Bleeding through to the next pages is not a desirable result. I would suggest using pens, pencils, art supplies that are solely intended for Bible journaling. I like using my Bible Journaling set from Ellie Claire. The beginning pages of the Bible includes a “This Bible Belongs to Page”, Table of Contents, The books of the Bible in alphabetic order and a preface to the New King James Version. The Bible ends with several lined pages to take notes. The Words of Christ are in red. I’m excited to create works of art within these pages when times slows down a little bit. I feel this would be a wonderful journaling Bible for anyone that prefers the NKJV of the Bible and is looking for a design with a feminine touch. I have been waiting for this Bible! I love journaling Bibles and I have one but it's not large print. And the words are a bit hard to read because they are small. But this large print makes all the difference! The words are actually the size they should be for reading. This Bible has a beautiful cover but I love the pages that allow one to either write out thoughts or draw/color a thought. And the Bible is a nice size...not too big and not too small. I love art journaling! Not only is it fun and I have been waiting for this Bible! I love journaling Bibles and I have one but it's not large print. I love art journaling! Not only is it fun and creative but art journaling helps me to remember the verses that I draw/color. I admit that I don't color all the things I draw. I'm one of those people who likes to open up my Bible and see clean lines. If I do color I use a nice not cheap color pencil so that the pages aren't ripped by an uneven pencil tip. I have found that gel pens are pretty but they do tend to color through the pages and sometimes cause pages to stick together. Anyway, this is a lovely Bible and makes a wonderful gift for that creative person on your list! *This Bible was provided for review by BookLook*
