This book would be appropriate for the collection analyzed during my field experience hours because several sections of the non fiction section were dated and contained encyclopedias and dictionaries that sometimes don’t interest young readers. This bibliography will aid the LMS in adding to the reference section and fiction section. The list price for this book is $14 which is very affordable. Purpose:— The entries in this bibliography cover topics such as science, math, technology, sports, adventure, folklore, and transportation. The entries cover books for children ages three to fourteen. This book will aid the LMS in adding to the collection and by providing a resource to recommend books to students. It will also be a great resource for classroom teachers when planning units. Validity— The publisher is a division of Random House Inc. The author has written other best-selling bibliographies and is a Newberry Award committee member. The author has written other best selling bibliographies Great books for Girls and Great books for Boys. This bibliography covers materials for both genders and is more comprehensive in topics. This book has received favorable reviews by School Library Journal and Library Journal. Although this book has a limited shelf-life due to the date of publication, this book is a cost efficient resource to add to the collection. The books were chosen through librarian and teacher recommendations. Format– This book is a print source and is also available as an ebook. It is organized into sections by topic. The citations include genre and age level. There are author, title, and subject indexes. Arrangement and Presentation: The arrangement of this book is eight broad categories: animals; arts and crafts; folklore and fantasy; history and adventure; games, puzzles, hobbies, and holidays; science, math, and technology; sports; and transportation and engineering. There are author, title, and subject indexes. Diversity: This book is available only in English and is appropriate for K-6. It provides lists of books available for all elementary levels.
