They tend to be a bit rushed and not quite detailed enough. They really need to be more descriptive. They just need to be taken up about 2 notches. They will start to get steamy, then fade to black. Until I see her up these sections of her stories, I cannot give her more than 4 stars.

With her anger focused Jax “Ace” Andersson – she has determined he is the one to pay and give her pound of flesh. Poor unsuspecting Jax! One night is all it took for their lives to become entwined though it took a lot longer for them to work their way through the minefield left in the wake of Jax’s divorce, the widowing of Jessa and the hit put out on the inheritor of a seemingly valueless book. I enjoyed this story and having read book one in the HERO Force book liked meeting up with characters in the series. I have to say that I was angry with Jessa during the first half or so of the book but that gradually changed over time. The interactions were intense, the dialogue at times cutting, the emotions intense and the story worth reading. I am not sure that the recuperative powers of both Jax and Jessa would have been as rapid as portrayed in the last bit of the book – not after sustaining the injuries they did – but it is fiction and the two did need a bit of cuddling so – why not fudge a bit. Thank you to the author for the ARC – this is my honest review. 4.5 Stars NOTE: The 5 stages of grief and loss are: 1. Denial and isolation; 2. Anger; 3. Bargaining; 4. Depression; 5. Acceptance. People who are grieving do not necessarily go through the stages in the same order or experience all of them. (for those that might not know what they are)

This book left me with plenty of mixed feelings. The writing was good and the mystery and intrigue surrounding the inheritance was well written but several elements of the story just did not appeal to me. An angry widow with an axe to grind has sex with the man responsible for making a decision that killed her husband and her unborn child, in the hopes of becoming pregnant. Months later she gets a fake identification and moves across the country to leave her heartbroken memories and any chance of retribution behind, only to be found and taken prisoner by her child's father. He actually manhandles her and handcuffs her to a bed so she won't disappear again now that he knows she's pregnant, and holds her against her will until she realizes she loves him. Some readers may enjoy this type of romance but I'm not one of them. I think this is a matter of personal choice because I have read and enjoyed other books in her Hero Force series. I read a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.

Jax, the gentlest, caring, most compassionate man I've read about in a long time......he didn't deserve what Jessa did to him, nor the way she treated him, but he stood up and acted like a real man should. Barely tolerable characters. She lied to him to get pregnant (consent!), and he stalked her and violated her privacy repeatedly and then imprisoned her. Wow, so romantic. Ugh.

Yikes, what a disappointment. All Jax and Jessa did was fight and they were not nice about it at all. I didn't like either characters and doubt I will read any more in this series. I received a free copy but voluntarily reviewed it. This book is part of The Inheritance series. The idea of this series is that a wealthy man dies and gives different things to each of his heirs. In this novel, Jessa McConnell receives an expensive book that actually belongs to another woman. This book is the second book in Amy Gamet’s Hero Force series. In spite of the fact that Sheltered by the Seal is part of a series, you do not have to read the other books before you read this one. Ms. Gamet I received a free copy but voluntarily reviewed it. Ms. Gamet does such a wonderful job of giving background information that most of the time, I did not even realize she was doing it. Ms. Gamet is a highly-skilled author who has the ability to draw her readers into the plot very early in the novel. Her characters are very well-developed as is the plot. Also, there are several are based on the fact that Jessa receives a book that belongs to someone else. In this novel, Jessa McConnell’s husband, at one time, was a member of Jax Anderson’s Hero Force. Unfortunately, during his last job, he was killed. Also, Jessa was pregnant and had a miscarriage immediately afterward. In this novel, Jessa blames Jax for her husband’s death and, as a result, hates him. Jax, on the other hand, has always had a crush on Jessa. When Jax comes to visit Jessa, she suggests they have sex, and Jax agrees. He does not realize that Jessa is doing this for revenge and so she can “replace” her lost baby Regrettably, those are themes that I usually avoid when I choose a book. I do not like revenge books nor do I like secret baby themes. And, as often happens, revenge and secret babies directly lead to a hero’s anger and/or hatred - another theme I dislike. In spite of that, Ms. Gamet is a fantastic author! However, based on the reviews of this book and others with these themes, there are obviously many people who don’t agree with me. To those readers, I highly recommend this book. I am still happy that I read this book. It is the second book in Ms. Gamet’s series, and I plan to read the entire the series, I also plan to read more books in “The Inheritance” series. In other words, the theme of a book does not deter me from reading more of an author if she is highly skilled in the writing process. And, Amy Gamet, definitely, fits into that category!

Now, over a year later, Jax is pleased that he can deliver the news to Ralph's widow, Jessa, that they eliminated the man responsible for his death. Except, Jessa's reception of Jax and his news is less than welcoming...in fact, she's downright hostile! Jessa is still harboring hatred towards Jax and HERO Force! After all, Jax took everything from her...her husband and her baby. Now he must pay. She plans on sleeping with Jax to get pregnant...to, sort of, replace the baby that she lost. Except she has no plans on sharing this information with Jax. Once the deed is done, Jessa disappears. She refuses Jax's calls, assumes a new identity and moves! But once Jax catches up with Jessa and discovers that she's in danger from an unknown source, he has no intention of leaving her alone...much less when he discovers that she's carrying his child! While I really enjoyed this plot and the guys of HERO Force, Jessa acted on my last nerve! She allowed her anger at Jax, because of her husband's death, as well as information from Jax's ex-wife, cloud her judgement. Still an excellent book with great narration. I'm really invested in this series now...need to move on to Logan's story! I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

If it wasn't enough that she lost her husband, she lost her child a well and having to blame someone, she pours all her anger and resentment out on Jax. The story picks up quickly after that as Jax and his team are in a race against time to discover why someone wants Jesse dead and the significance of the inheritance she receives in the name of her assumed identity. Oh my, what can I way but that I loved this story! It never ceases to amaze the depth of talent that Ms Gamet pocesses. In this book we have Jesse McConnell, a widow who not only lost her husband, a member of the elite HERO Force , but also her unborn child . She blames HERO for both deaths , especially the leader, Jax Andersson. It is also a story about redemption, forgiveness, a reminder life is short and because of that , we must live it to the fullest and in the moment. And that love really is worth all the ups and downs. It's enemies to lovers, with a thrilling adventure of false identity, inheritance and greed. It's fast paced, at times exasperating and passionate. Looking forward to Cowboy's story next! Narration continues by Janelle Tedesco, bringing the characters personalities to life. She has a great way to bring the over protective feelings out with her voice, the angry, grieving, yet conflicted widow sound and it's just a great entertaining listen. I am loving this series.

I have to admit that I almost didn't finish this book because I didn't really like the female character. Jessa lost her husband, who was part of HERO force and she blamed Jax. So she conspires to get pregnant by him?! It didn't even make sense. And then she gets pregnant and hides from him. That's unconscionable. And she's so mean and rude over most of the book. Jax is a little quiet and stoic but overall, he was a fine character and constant towards Jessa (Although a little stalkerish). I listened to the audiobook and Janelle Tedesco did a good job playing multiple characters although her male voice sounded low and forced. Overall, it was a good listen.

Vindictive Woman While there is a lot of action and swoon worthy moves, I distinctly dislike Jessa. Losing your spouse and unborn child are horrifying. It's her vindictive actions towards Jax that leave me shaking my head. When he goes caveman on her I actually laughed out loud and mentally high fived him. When his men of Hero Force completely take his side and tell Jessa she's wrong is awesome. Usually, the guy is made to look ugly. I really enjoyed this story of Jax and Jessa. Jessa is still reeling over the loss of her husband, Ralph, Jax's good friend and teammate. She is also suffering after her miscarriage as well. She decides to get pregnant again and when Jax shows up on her doorstep, she sees it as the perfect opportunity. Add in a case of mistaken identity, some snipers, and sparks flying between Jax and Jessa and you have this book. I really enjoyed this story of Jax and Jessa. Book 2.... This is the second book in this series and the second book that I have read by this author. I had a hard time with Jessa’s character and the story felt rushed. We follow the couple though emotional wave after wave, with a blip of action, and then the story is over. There were times I wish the bantering/bickering between the couple would be lessened and the action/story would develop more.

This is a brand new author to me and this is the second book I've read of hers in the series. Jax and Jessa are too strong characters who brought the pages to life. I love the plot in the story. There was a lot of drama, hurt, and passion that was ever developing into something more. I look forward to book 3 in the series which I understand is Cowboy's story. Baby makes three. Jax and Jessa are thrown together when Jessa inadvertently puts herself in harm's way my stealing the id of a woman in danger from high priced killers. Jax will do anything to help her and that is before finding out he's going to be a daddy. This book is non stop action as these two outrun killers and their own issues to find their HEA.
