After reading this book, I want to go out and do all "100 things" mentioned. I think I've done about 20 so far. Molly Page's book has a great mix of activities that work for both locals and visitors. She's also a funny and insightful writer. My favorite part is probably the itineraries section in the back. It provides collections of the "100 things" grouped by theme. Overall, this book is a fun and unusual way to explore the city. Neither my husband nor I are strangers to the Windy City (we even spent our honeymoon there), but I wish "100 Things To Do In Chicago Before you Die" had been out in print back then! I was totally impressed with the number of locations, amount of research, and specific details in this book - not so many that you are overwhelmed and don't know where to start, but not too few that you're left wondering why you bought it. Although most travel books out of date so quickly (you know the kind), this book is focuses more on city icons that have been around for years, and are sure to be there whenever you visit. Whether you have a trip on the calendar, you're dreaming about the future, or you've lived there for years and think you know it all, you'll want to pick up a copy of this book for reference. I found myself wishing we'd had a book like this when we were in Paris, and have already put the Boston version on my Amazon wish list! Potential audiences for "100 Places"... * College students in or around the Chicago area (they'll love the list of FREE activities if they were as poor as we were as students!) * House warming gift for a newly arrived Chicago resident * A friend planning a family vacation or road trip that will take them through the city for a day or two * Christmas gift for your kids as a way to announce a surprise trip

When at the first few pages all I gather was eating I tossed the book aside. I rater have a salad in the comfort of my kitchen, thank you.
