After tragedy strikes her family, she moves to the shores of Lake Tahoe to find some peace. But when mysterious software mogul Jacob Latimer comes into her life, her thoughts turn from her own healing to an urgent need to get closer to him... Jacob Latimer is the definition of a self-made man. The software entrepreneur built his corporation from nothing, but rumors abound about the shadiness of his rise to power and no one knows what secrets lurk in his past. Harper is the last person he should let into his life. As an investigative journalist, she’s the one person who could expose his hidden origins. But Jacob knows things about Harper’s past that make him irresistibly drawn to her. He wants nothing more than to make her his—and Jacob is a man who always gets what he wants... •••••••••• REVIEW: 4.25 stars--- MAKE ME (releasing as an eight part serial) by Beth Kery is a stand alone, erotic, romance story line focusing on billionaire Jacob Latimer, and investigative journalist/editor Harper McFaddan. Told from dual third person points of view using memories, flashbacks, dreams and present day MAKE ME follows the building relationship between Jacob Latimer and Harper McFaddan-a second chance of sorts-for two people whose lives, almost two decades earlier, intertwined their heart and souls. Harper McFaddan recently moved to Tahoe Shores from San Francisco to start a new chapter in her life (following the death of her parents) but meeting reclusive billionaire Jacob Latimer finds our heroine caught between wanting to move forward and being pulled into the past. Jacob Latimer is a software entrepreneur whose secrets run deep; and little to nothing is known about his past. What ensues is a slow building romance between Jacob and Harper, as Jacob struggles with revealing the truth to the woman who calls to his soul. MAKE ME is a sexually aggressive and graphic storyline with scenarios of bondage, rope play, and anal $ex that may be issues for some sensitive readers. Jacob is a man who likes control both in and out of the boardroom, and finds himself needing to claim Harper as his own. His fears of ‘losing’ Harper cause many anxious moments for a man whose reputation is cold and aloof. But little do most people know that Jacob is a man who has a need to protect those who cannot protect themselves. The majority of the story line focuses on the relationship between Harper and Jacob interspersed with a series of flashbacks and dreams that will trigger memories from the past. We are introduced to Jacob’s inner circle-the people who know him best-yet the same people who know nothing about the boy he once was. MAKE ME is an imaginative and spirited story line about betrayal and loss; grief and heartbreak; falling in love and letting go of the past. The premise is dramatic; the characters are captivating and intense; the romance is a slow build of passion, desire, wants and needs. MAKE ME is an erotic tale about fated lovers whose lives were destroyed by a single moment in time, but brought together for a second chance at forever and love. Her stories are always so good that I know it will be worth the wait to get the whole story. Luckily I was able to read the whole story at one time, and let me tell you that it is definitely worth the read! Beth Kery never disappoints, and the Make Me serial is another fantastic read from her. After a tragedy took her parents away from her, Harper McFadden moved from San Francisco to a small town on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Looking for peace, Harper never expected to meet the mysterious Jacob Latimer. Jacob is known for being a successful entrepreneur building his software company up from nothing, but rumors of shady business dealings have left many trying to dig deeper into his past. Jacob knows that the last person he should let near him is Harper, a journalist known for her investigative skills. Yet the connection between Harper and Jacob is more than either of them can fight and they find themselves unable to stay away from each other. But with secrets between them, can Jacob make Harper his or will the truth destroy any chance of a future together? I really liked both Harper and Jacob. I felt the chemistry and connection between them right away, and with each new piece of information revealed I couldn't get enough of them! There was so much more to each of these characters than you see at first glance, and I really liked getting to know each of them better. Jacob was determined to make Harper his, yet he also knew that she was the one person that could expose everything he has hidden. Harper was looking for peace and healing after losing her parents, yet she was drawn to Jacob right away and couldn't fight the pull she felt to him. These two were great together, and I loved seeing how things played out for them. Overall, I really enjoyed this one from start to finish. I am so glad that I didn't have to wait for the entire story, but let me tell you it is definitely worth it even if you do have to wait. The 8 installments are short and easy to read, and they leave you anxious for more. Jacob and Harper's story was impossible to put down, and I was intrigued right from the start. I don't want to go into details so I don't spoil the story, but I was surprised with all the twists and turns and I had to know what would happen next. Beth Kery is a fantastic writer, and this serial was filled with steam and emotion, as well as mystery and intrigue. I highly recommend this and any of Beth Kery's stories, and I already can't wait for more from her. **ARC Provided by Publisher** ***NOTE: This review is for the entire Make Me Serial from Beth Kery***

But again, this review is for the WHOLE serial. This is an 8 part series with the first having released last week and the last set to release in May. I love a good serial. I feel that the episodes have to be JUST long enough to really pull you in, but not long enough that you feel like your reading a while book. They should feel like an episode on TV and that is exactly what Beth did with this series. It was perfectly paced. This serial follows Harper McFadden. She has recently moved from SanFran to Lake Tahoe and is rebuilding her life there. The last thing she thought would run into her life was Jacob Latimer. I swear, after the first meeting you will be happy he ran into it too. This guy was YUM. Okay, but really, he was a complete gentleman and had a GREAT dog. That just about seals it. I love a good guy who is not only nice to look at, but more importantly kind with a good heart. You see that right from the start with him. Jacob though earnest and sweet, could have a shady past. There have been rumors, and honestly that LAST thing he needs is a reporter getting close to him. What a shame because fate just won't allow Harper not to be a part of his life. I felt like this wasn't quite a cat and mouse story, but kind of was at the same time. It was a suspense filled romance about accepting each other for who they are, and knowing that you can share your secrets with the right people. I was rooting for this couple from that first meeting. It was Kismet and I wasn't having it any other way. Plus, some of those scenes will ave you fanning yourself. The only thing standing between Jacob and pure bliss is the suspicion that Harper’s memories are returning. If they do, she may never see him the same way again—or let him keep her safe from the horror that she faced as a young girl... The sense of security and trust Harper feels with Jacob has her finally abandoning herself to sensual decadence along with the truth that she’s hopelessly in love with this dark, daring man. With her submission to her feelings, sad memories and dreams begin to rise to the surface of her consciousness-and hers isn’t the only past being unburied. When one of her reporters reveals a startling revelation about Jacob’s history, their shared experiences crash together in a way that will change her forever. My Thoughts As i said in book #6, i think that we were starting to make progress in seeing if Harper would ever remember who Jacob was, and in this next book, its definitely something that'll come to a head in this one. In addition to seeing how Jacob and Harper are evolving their relationship, especially now that Harper has a better understanding of 'why' Jacob wants to have her around more. So true to Beth Kery fashion, we have some intense sceneing between these two - their chemistry continues to be super heated and passionate and i love it. i always want to see where Jacob takes her and what it means for the control that Harper has to give up. It's also intense to see how these interactions start to bring back her memories of the past - bit by bit. The other nice thing that we're FINALLY getting to is that folks are digging into Jacob's past and i wonder who's going to be the one to find out the truth first, Harper or the ppl at her paper, and what that will mean for her and Jacob since there's a reason that he's tried to reinvent himself. So - i gather that book 8 is the conclusion so next week we'll finally find out what's going on. Can't wait!

ARC provided by publisher. I feel this review should come with the disclaimer that when I received the ARC, I was not told this was erotica ... which I do not enjoy. That being said, this "second chance romance" complete with horrific backstory was really compelling. So much so that I ended up skipping over the sex chapters to find out what happened to little Jake and Harper. Even though Harper couldn't exactly connect the dots with Jacob but she kept feeling a pull towards him since book 1 and couldn't resist him anymore. So while looking for the right time to reveal their past, they fell deeply in love with each other. I can't believe that we are almost to their conclusion. Dang it, I got confused and read #8 before this one. So while I know what happens and am happy with the outcome, things make a little more sense. Harper is starting to remember more and more, but not willing to admit it. The story of the escape in the past had me on the edge of my seat, I so wanted them to get away clean.

Thanks to my friends at Berkley Romance, I was able to read all 8 parts of this serial novel at once. And thank goodness for that, too. Because I suck at patience. I enjoyed this series, and although there were times when the story in the present seemed to drag a bit, the periodic flashbacks really helped with that. The beginning and the ending were pretty great, too. More to come soon.
