This is a beautiful coffee-table sized book of photos of the everyday household tools and farming implements crafted by the isolated and cash-poor mountaineers. It features tools and works of art from the paleolithic through the late 20th Century. Many of these folks may not often have had the opportunity to easily and conveni Heirlooms & Artifacts of the Smokies: Treasures from the National Park's Historical Collection by Ed Trout & Tony Myers (Great Smoky Mountains Association 2010) (976.889). This is a beautiful coffee-table sized book of photos of the everyday household tools and farming implements crafted by the isolated and cash-poor mountaineers. It features tools and works of art from the paleolithic through the late 20th Century. Many of these folks may not often have had the opportunity to easily and conveniently express an artistic bent, though art is clearly what many of these settlers created. This is a beautiful book which should be savored; I commend it most highly to the curious mind. My rating: 7.5/10, finished 1/06/16.
