She'd do anything for the sexy, baseball star who's given it all up to stay in Sapphire Falls and take care of his family, but she and Eli are friends. Just friends. So when her brother hatches a plan to get Eli to the pro baseball try-out for the Kilby Catfish that he has dreamed of and deserves, Caitlyn is all in. After all, what's a little kidnapping among friends? A spot on the pitcher's mound for the Catfish isn't the only tempting thing about the spontaneous road trip. Eli already knows that Caitlyn is as sweet as the candies she makes for the Sapphire Falls bakery, but alone with her overnight in the tiny motel room in Kansas, it's impossible to resist the urge to take a little taste. But when that taste leads to falling for the girl next door just as his front door is moving hundreds of miles away, can Eli really have it all? Or do they have too many strikes against them?

A great start to this serial (in 3 parts) that tells the story of Eli from Sapphire Falls, and Cait, a long time friend who just so happens to be his best friend's younger sister (yes, it's that trope!). Eli's had to put his dream of a professional baseball career on the back burner after his father had a stroke and he had to come home to help him run his hardware store. But it hasn't stopped him dreaming of one day getting that chance to prove himself, and when Cait 'kidnaps' him to go to an open tryout, he's hesitant but decides to take the risk. While at the tryouts though, he starts to see Cait in a new light - a very attractive and all grown up light at that. They celebrate his tryout with some sexy times, and even though Cait is torn between wanting Eli to follow his dream and keeping him safe at home in Sapphire Falls, the choice will be out of her hands. 4 stars. I love the "older brothers best friend/best friends younger sister" trope, and Erin and Jen have nailed it in this first part of this book. Caitlyn has one mission, and that's to help get Eli to the tryout of his dreams. Little did she know the short road trip could lead to the night of her dreams. I loved the chemistry between these two. Caitlyn has a fantastic attitude, even when things don't work out her way. These reviews however are for the entire book. I was thrilled beyond words when I heard that two writers were teaming and doing a crossover novel of two series that I flat out LOVE. Getting Wound Up crosses Bernard's Love Between the Bases with Nicholas' Sapphire Falls series and in it we get the best of both worlds! That being said this book can ABSOLUTELY be read as a stand-alone story. Small towns, dreams, baseball and love all play a big part in Getting Wound Up and the humor and sexiness factor is off the charts when these two authors team up! Eli Anderson set aside his dreams of playing professional baseball when his father had a stroke and he returned to Sapphire Falls to run the family's hardware store. Now at age 26 thanks to his best friends Ty and Bryan and Bryan's sister Caitlyn, Eli is on his way to try out for the San Diego Friars. Spending time with Caitlyn, sharing a room with her and having her unwavering support makes Eli realize what all he's been missing in his life and despite the fact that she's his best friend's sister he is ready to take a chance. As with any couple who have known each other a long time and one whose lives are bound to change as one chases a dream and the other is firmly rooted helping her brother deal with his quasi-paraplegic status Eli and Caitlyn have a series of hurdles to overcome as they get closer. There was something so special about the way these two supported each other fully and how easily they moved from friends to lovers. The one thing I truly appreciated was that Bryan fully supported his best friend and his sister's relationship so much so that he helped orchestrate giving them time alone together (so refreshing from so many books with this troupe). As an avid reader of these author's series I loved seeing characters from both series, but again while this book will introduce you to a lot of characters you can read this one without having read those series but I have a good feeling once you read this fun and flirty story you'll want to check out both author's other work. There was so much to love about this book including characters you want to be friends with, small towns that welcome you with open arms and the message to follow your dreams no matter you age or your situation. Jennifer Bernard and Erin Nicholas hit it out of the park with Getting Wound Up! Review copy provided for an honest review.

WOW! I have to say I love the idea of "brother's best friend and little sister" stories. They are awesome when written well. This one is awesome. The writing is excellent. The plot is engaging. I will say that I want more! I can't wait for parts 2 and 3. So yes a serial it does leave you waiting for more, but I wouldn't call it a cliffhanger, more like watching a TV series and it having "to be continued" and you have to wait a week to know more. Fans of Jennifer Bernard and Erin Nicholas are going to love this one. It's such a great crossover novel. And those who haven't read Erin Nicholas Sapphire Falls won't be lost, but will be eager to read more of that series. The same with those who haven't read Jennifer Bernard's Love Between the Bases. You'll be eager to learn more about Caleb Hart and Mike Solo and OMG Trevor Stark........(okay so I have a minor crush on Trevor at this time.....his book will arrive soon).....Either way you will adore both the characters and the feelings this part one evokes. I highly recommend this one and can't wait for pt 2. If you're read any of my previous reviews you know I'm not a fan of serials, but this one didn't leave me feeling like I didn't get a full story. It more or less just left me eager to read more of the story between these two. I want to know what happens next!

I’m not normally a fan of baseball but Getting Wound Up made me want to sit front row! This is part 1 of a 3 part release and it’s already so hot and incredible, I am very impatiently waiting for the next part! Eli Anderson gave up his dreams of playing in the major leagues to return to Sapphire Falls and run the family hardware store after his dads stroke. He can’t bring himself to regret his decisions, but it doesn’t mean that baseball is far from his thoughts. She knows she will always be a little sister, but part of her really wishes there could be more. Eli’s friends, Ty and Bryan scheme up a plan to get Eli to a minor league try out and they needed Caitlyn’s help to pull it off. The result is the sexiest kidnapping in history. Eli not only tries out, but he makes out with his friend’s little sister that he can’t help but noticed has grown up gorgeous. These two are off the charts compatible! I can’t wait to see where the next part of this story takes them. You’ll get a kidnapping, baseball, shots, choices and a night to remember in this one! Happy reading!

This is another great story by Erin Nicholas and her Co-Author Jennifer Bernard. I usually don't read books written by more than one author, but these two hit it out of the park. Loved the characters Eli and Cait. I always like a story with a friends to lovers theme, and this was a great one. You didn't have to wait forever for the inevitable chemistry to kick in, which is always a plus too. I still am in love with Sapphire Falls, and now I'm going to have to check into Kilby. I'm a little confused how to write this review because it's done in 3 parts but I believe I read it all so on that note I'm posing my review only on this one. While away they sleep together and Caitlyn knows it will be only time but when they return home and things progress she knows she will be broken hearted when he gets picked. I really liked these two and the fact it was " I fall in love with my best friends little sister story". You can see the attraction between these two characters right away and I love how Eli isn't so sure them being together is a good thing but he just can't stay away from her. During this story these two spend time apart because Eli is living his dream of being a pitcher for the catfish but I love how he is always thinking of her and texting her and just wanting to be with her. He is willing to give up his dream for her dream of them being together because he doesn't see how they could be together living his dream. I thought this book was sweet and romantic. And I really loved that you didn't have to read both stories to understand these characters. The story just meshes well I didn't want it to end. Overall I was satisfied with the outcome of the story and loved how it ended with both of them fulfilling each other's dreams.

After completing culinary school, Caitlyn returned to Sapphire Falls after her older brother, Bryan was severely injured in a bicycle accident. Eli’s best friends, Bryan and Ty, enlist Caitlyn’s help to kidnap Eli and take him to Kansas City where the San Diego Friars are holding open tryouts. They arrive at the hotel, realizing they are sharing a hotel room. Eli does well at the tryouts, being asked to pitch more than any other candidate, but that does not guarantee him a spot on the team. Caitlyn decides to cheer up Eli telling him they need to celebrate and the two go to a nearby bar for drinks and dinner. Caitlyn calls Bryan to make sure she's doing the right thing, a conversation Eli overhears. It turns out that Caitlyn is not the only one wanting the other one. Leaving the bar and returning to their hotel room the two end up going from friends to lovers. After returning from Kansas City, Caitlyn is determined to be Eli’s cheerleader. Just as we reach the end of this part of the story, Eli receives a call from the team and is to report to Kilby, Texas to play on the Friar’s Triple A team, the Kilby Catfish. I am very impressed with this collaboration. The plot was riveting and kept my attention to the very end. I struggled with putting this book down! Now I can’t wait to find out what will happen to this relationship and how Eli will do with the Catfish.

Will they finally give in and act on the relationship that has been stirring for practically their whole lives? I guess you'll just have to read to find out. Even if you are not familiar with either of the characters in either of the series I would give this book two thumbs up. "Never give up on your dreams." It's an easy mantra to recite, a hard phrase to forget-but not as easy to live up to. Life throws us all curve balls that sets us on a different course and pretty soon we miss out on our plans. In Getting Wound Up that's what happened to Eli. This book combines two of my favorite book worlds, Sapphire Falls and the Kilby Catfish. Caitlyn is the little sister of Eli's best friend Bryan. In other words, completely off limits in his mind. Until Brian and his other friend Ty Bennett hatch a plan to get Eli to a tryout for the Friars baseball team. They can't take him there so they enlist Caitlyn to kidnap Eli and get him to the tryout. Eli gave up his baseball dreams to work in his father's hardware store once he got sick. His friends want him to chase those dreams instead. Caitlyn pushes him past his nerves to tryout. He thinks he failed his tryout. This part ends on a fantastic cliffhanger.

A crossover book from two of my favorite authors, Jennifer Bernard and Erin Nicholas. Two of America's favorite past times, romance and baseball. Their two worlds collide Sapphire Falls meet Kilby Catfish Baseball. Loved the chemistry between Eli and Caitlyn. Just in time for baseball season a cross over book between two authors I love. Sapphire Falls and the Kilby Catfish come together to create the first part of a great three part series. Cait and Eli have been friends for a long time. Eli was a great baseball player in high school and college but had to cut his career short to come home and run the family business. Cait takes Eli on a trip to look at a car only to find out the trip is really a tryout for a baseball team. This is Part 1 of a 3 part serial book but don't worry you don't have to wait long for the next part! Erin Nicholas and Jennifer Bernard's writing blends together perfectly! Caitlyn kidnaps Eli to take him to the baseball tryouts for the Kilby Catfish. She doesn't know that it will lead to one of the best nights of her life. Caitlyn is really sweet and Eli is just plain hot! This is a short and sexy read that will have you anxiously waiting for Part 2! I definitely recommend this book! What do you get when two accomplished authors combine forces to create a series crossover novel? You get a 5-star story that combines the best of both worlds. Getting Wound Up is a collaboration between Jennifer Bernard and Erin Nicholas in which they combine Ms. Bernard’s Between the Bases series and Ms. Nicholas’ Sapphire Falls series. Part I introduces us to Eli Anderson and Caitlyn Murray. Eli really wants to break free from Sapphire Falls and hopes to find a way out of smallville. Eli’s big dream of making it as a pitcher in the big leagues is cut short when he has to give up a college scholarship to return to home so he can take over running the family hardware business after his father suffers a stroke. Caitlyn is happy being in Sapphire Falls and is the candy maker at the Sapphire Falls Bakery. Caitlyn has always had a crush on Eli, but since Eli is her brother’s best friend he is only friend material. Caitlyn’s brother, who is now confined to a wheelchair after an accident, knows that life is too short for what if’s; therefore, he sets up a chance for Eli to tryout for the Kilby Catfish. He gets Eli’s father’s approval and enlists not only the town but Caitlyn to make it happen. Since Caitlyn is Eli’s biggest fan, she is more than eager to help out by kidnapping him and driving him to the Kilby Catfish tryout. After the tryout, Eli feels that he didn’t pitch his best and wants to return home. Caitlyn feels it is too late to make the long drive and convinces Eli that they should go out celebrating and spend the night. What happens when Caitlyn and Eli have to spend a night in a hotel room before heading back to Sapphire Falls? Caitlyn didn’t think that one through. Caitlyn’s brother seems to know that Caitlyn has a thing for Eli. Does he know that Eli has a thing for his sister? They can’t help but act on the mutual attraction they have for one another. What will happen if Eli makes the team and gets his chance to leave Sapphire Falls? I don’t know, but I can’t wait to read the next installment in this great series. I am an ardent fan of Ms. Bernard; therefore, I am familiar with her Between the Bases series. The Kilby Catfish are a fun and entertaining group, and I can’t wait to see what happens with Eli. I have not had the pleasure of reading Ms. Nicholas’ Sapphire Falls series, but I sure intend to do so. The combination of the two authors writing is seamless which gives it a continuity and does not fracture the story. Part I ended at just the right spot, so I can’t wait to read part II to find out the next installment in Eli and Caitlyn’s story. I’m hoping to see more collaborations of this kind in the future as it’s fun to see how the characters in both books interact with one another.. *** I received an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review that is my own. ***
