When I read something I genuinely adore I cannot help but feel it deep in my bones. I get this euphoric high; a rush I can't really put into words. It's what I search for. It's what keeps me reading. I'm looking for that book that I consider a golden ticket. A book where there is not a single thing I would change, not a line I would alter, not a character trait I would tweak. A book so blissful in it's entirety that I can get completely lost in the story. One that leaves me bereft with a feeling of 'I don't know what to do with myself.' I call it the ULTIMATE pleasure read. And THAT was THIS --- Beguiling was my ULTIMATE pleasure read. A novel so wholly perfect, so utterly charming and sexy and incredible, I entered another world entirely and got swept away in its flawless splendor. I have to say, Alex Lucian has become MY FAV author. I have a group of authors I love and would drop ANYTHING to read. It's a small handful, but it's a group that I trust implicitly. They have NEVER failed me as a reader! And Alex Lucian has just been added to that group, this author now resides among my top faves and I will read EVERY book that is EVER put out. FLAT OUT!!! I am OBSESSED with the stories, the words, the ... everything. OBSESSED. This is two reads in a row that haven't just been good or great, they've have BLOWN me out of the freaking water. THEY HAVE MADE ME WANT TO DANCE ON CLOUD NINE! I didn't just love Beguiling, it went beyond that. I want you to know I don't review every book I read. Even if I love a book, that doesn't mean I'm going to write a review. It might be a great read, but I'm a passionate reader, and if I feel I have nothing to say, I say nothing. And this is the SECOND time this author has INSPIRED me TO SCREAM, TO YELL, TO RAVE, to move into "CRAZY BOOK GIRL" status. I ADORED THIS with EVERYTHING in me. I swear, I want to inhale EVERY WORD this author writes. I want to climb into these stories. They are MAGICAL. The ULTIMATE escapism. Beguiling was a completely different read than Tempting. Where Tempting was forbidden and illicit and addicting, Beguiling was equally addicting, but more so charming and sexy. It fluttered with a lighter, airy quality. While Scarlet and Leo did have this hate/love relationship, it had many laugh out loud moments. The pages were filled with flirty, combustible banter that was sexy and heated and just fun. I felt my myself move with the plot seamlessly. The progression of emotions and depth between the characters was so fluid, so believable, and so visceral. Right away, I felt the feels as if they were my own. I connected with pure emotional ease. As each chapter moved forward and Scarlet and Leo fell, I fell with them. I tumbled head first. I'm telling you, I could literally feel my body buzz as I was reading. It was tangible. Delightful. Leo was a breath of fresh air. Easy to love. God, I adored him. I knew he was a sweetheart in Tempting, but I don't think I realize just how incredible he was. He had me melting like a Popsicle on a hot summer day. I was a puddle of nothing at that mans feet. He's arrogant, but utterly lovable. You feel him. You get him. And just want to devour him. Scarlet is fiery! She has a bit of a biting personality at times, but she's just as lovable as Leo. She's a good girl, a hard worker, puts everything into her study's, and is a sensitive soul. And... what she may lack in sexual and social experience, she makes up for in her self confidence. WHOA, baby. This chick can give as well as she can take. She's a firecracker. Together, they are ELECTRIC! Between the chemistry, the utter ease and yumminess of the plot, the flirty and funny banter, and the angst that is sprinkled in, it was just MAGNETIC. I could go on and on and on and on, but I won't. I'm sure you're sick of me already. Just do yourself a favor, go read this author. Seriously! GO AND READ. You're getting great writing that is really top top top notch. Characters that are just downright fabulous. And plot lines that are enthralling. It's PHENOMENAL. Truly. I would recommended this again and again and again. ____________________________ A COUPLE OF MY FAV LINES (Honestly, almost the whole book is highlighted in my Kindle. It is THAT GREAT!! 1. "You know what, church girl?" She flicked her brown eyes over to me, color still high in her face and mouth pinched shut. "I’d tell you to suck my dick right now, but I don’t think you’d know what to do with it. <<---- Hahahaha. Damn! LOVE 2. "She was waiting for me, waiting like one of those plants. You know. The plant that eats men. A Venus Fly Trap. Those things ate men, right? That was Scarlet. She’d already taken off her pants. And when our eyes met and held, she gripped the bottom of her light gray shirt and peeled it up over her head, leaving her in a white bra and matching white underwear. Tiny, tiny underwear. My brain short-circuited. Straight-up crashed." <<--- Hehehehehehehehe! I laughed so hard. God he's fucking adorable. 3. I stayed right in front of the door, just like she asked, except when she approached me, I didn’t move. "Leo, quit screwing around.” The words would have made me get out of the way, but her voice wasn’t annoyed in the slightest. Her eyes were bright, and the way she said them, all breathy and low, kept me exactly where I was. "Who, me? I’m not.” When she got close enough, I smoothed my hands around her hips, the soft material of her black leggings thin enough that I could feel the heat from her skin. “You’re always playing, Leo.” I turned, so her back was up against the door now, and I pressed against her with my hips, letting her feel how very serious I was. She dropped her head back against the wood with a soft moan, and I kissed the spot of skin underneath her ear. “No playing, Scarlet. I promise.” <<---- The chemistry, the utter sexiness that these two have. Just the connection and dialogue. It was just so damn incredible. Tangible. I could feel it all over me.

"She hated me. And that did something strange to me, like I wanted to pick her apart to figure out exactly why, figure out exactly how to fix it." Alex Lucian's Tempting was a knockout in chemistry between an angsty student and brewing teacher. It had a maturity that many NA romances lack. Scarlet Jennings had one of the most perfect, gorgeous smiles I'd ever seen. but it never reached over the physical barriere cause it overlapped with the "hatred". One drunken night will change that...and it will set two different people that were under the different pretence "Your family doesn't expect much from you. And my family expects everything from me. on a journey of challenge Scarlet Jennings had an inner sex kitten that needed to be unleashed, and I'd be the best fucking pussy tamer she'd ever find. passion, self-discovery through touch, Some women may have been able to continue, if I'd pushed. But I wouldn't do that to her, not Scarlet. If I embarrassed her in this place, she'd never forgive me. And that was the thing when you realized that you didn't just LIKE someone, that you respect them. I couldn't fathom doing something to lose that respect. gaining trust and intimacy on much larger scale Because I was about one smile away from blurting out that I was most likely, probably, almost falling in love with her. ...after one piece of paper with the bucket list falls into the "right" and "willing" hands. The girl who was a neighborhood friend when we were little, a stranger throught high school, then the one person who made me feel like I'd never prove them wrong about me, was the only person in the world that I wanted to be thinking about, spending time with, making decisions about. Like, life decisions. I'm so fucking in love with you, Scarlet, ...and I dont know where I'll end up after next year is over, but I know where I want to be. I want to be with you. If you'll have me. This was a second book I have read from this author and it's also a second book in the series (Tempting #2). So we meet Leo as Adele's best friend in book 1 Tempting, but this book can be read in my opinion as a standalone too since it only hold several references to the characters from book 1 that will not confuse you. I loved Leo and Scarlet. Leo was a total surprise to me as he changed from a certain image that was imposed on him and showed himself in his true light as a determined, trust worthy, sensible, tentative, considerate guy with a big heart. Scarlet was a girl driven by her family's expectations or she believed so to be true. She was in an inner conflict for not having lived through her young life and she was pinning and wishing she did. She made a bucket list with the things she was longing to try at least once...and her inner horror begun when she wanted to do all of those things with the guy she should NOT be attracted to or so she whished (sometimes she was a bit annoying cause of the sudden bursts of her insecurities but luckily Leo was the one who tamponed the annoyance to go any further)... cause well, in her reasoning he was the wrong choice. But never did the wrong looked so right! Easy, light, funny and passionate story. I will follow the future work of this author, for sure!

Even though he's had his share of women he's very different with her. He respected her background as a preacher's daughter and her sexual inexperience. He certainly wasn't inexperienced but got some tongue skills. Scarlet was a feisty and opinionated girl. Very dedicated to her schoolwork and her dream of becoming a veterinarian doctor. She's only had one sexual encounter and a bad one at that. A drunk and 5 minutes encounter that's given her a bad impression of sex. So she's missing out on a lot and not only great sex because of her studies. Her solution = a bucket list which Leo gladly would help out with. Their chemistry worked, sexy as all hell and their bantering funny.  So why the 3 stars. Maybe it's just me. But I couldn't connect with the characters the way I wanted. Scarlet frustrated the hell out of me with her hot and cold attitude. Damn, she was really hitting a nerve at one point. I knew that the story would be different from its predecessor, so I was expecting that and I appreciate when an author go a different route with the next book. I really put an effort to get into the story but to no success. I have to say that the writing was sublime and this book is not putting me off for Alex Lucian's next book. I'm definitely going to read the continuation of Adele and Nathan's story.  3 BadAssDirtyBucketListStars Arc generously provided for an honest review

But where as Tempting was a sexy and gritty joy ride with the right amount of forbidden and angst, this book was just a bland and cliché New adult tree trunk that the world could've done without. Douchey jerkface who has slept with half the population suddenly gets the hots for the dull and inexperienced goody-two-shoes he hates for no apparent reason. Goody-two-shoes who has never done anything fun in life wants to experience things all of a sudden, usually pushed on by the life of the party obnoxious best friend whose sole purpose in life is to get goody-two-shoes laid. Goody-two-shoes turns to town's most celebrated dick whom she hates with a vengeance. They hit it, fall in love against all odds, some back and forth, some drama, some laughable “suspense”, then BAM! HEA! Now this sounds familiar! Where have I read this before? IN EVERY SINGLE NA BOOK EVER PUBLISHED ON GOD'S EARTH, THAT’S WHERE! Minus all of Elliot Wake’s books. No, he is the best of the best, the god of the gods, and the definition of perfect. And I will mention him everywhere if I can help it. Moving on. This book is every single NA book you've ever read. Nothing new, nothing exciting, nothing to twist your heart, shake up your world, or dampen your panties. It's just a dull cliché with soulless characters who had nothing going for them. Even their hastily thrown in backstory did not make them real for me. There was nothing in here to make me feel any emotion. I didn’t even wanna scream at the top of my lungs or throw the book at the wall. I just sat there, staring at the book with bleary eyes, willing myself to read just one more page. That's how boring it was. That's not to say that Alex Lucian is not a good author, considering how much I liked her first book in the series, Tempting. And this book is not necessarily bad either, as in it's not plotless, or badly written, so I wouldn't discourage you from reading it. However, it’s boring, has a recycled storyline, and it did not add anything to me or effect me in any way, and THAT is not a book worth reading in my case.

Beguiling is often used to describe something or someone who is captivating or seductive. This would be the perfect description of Scarlet, through Leo's eyes. Leo and Scarlet grew up across the road from each other. They played together, went to school together and road bikes through their neighbourhood. One puberty hit, everything changed. Leo developed into a handsome young man and a talented quarterback. His popularity grew and there was no shortage of interest from females. Leo developed into a handsome young man and a talented quarterback. His popularity grew and there was no shortage of interest from females. Scarlet's path into puberty was very different. She stayed home a lot, studied hard and was very focused on her future. These two have a slight love/hate relationship with each other and not by their own choosing, they end up having to spend a lot of time in each other's company over the summer. Leo thinks that Scarlet is so uptight that all she needs is some naked time with him and he will sort that issue out no problem. She thinks he is a meathead football player who will sleep with any girl who shows interest in him. 'Scarlet Jennings had an inner sex kitten that need to be unleashed, and I'd be the best fucking pussy tamer she'd ever find.' - Leo There is no denying that Leo finds Scarlet pretty irresistible and he becomes quite determined to break down her walls. Scarlet gets increasingly frustrated with the way her body reacts whenever she is around Leo. Scarlet is about to have her world knocked off kilter, the minute she puts her lips on Leo everything changes. Turns out they have both made assumptions about each other and as their friendship grows over summer Leo realises he is going to have to put in the hard yards if he wants Scarlet to see the real him. 'All your doing is breathing and I can feel it like you're wrapped around me.' - Leo I absolutely loved this! Leo is such a sweetheart and I loved reading his POV's and what was going through his head as he realised just how much he cared for Scarlet. I especially loved a phone conversation he had with coach about being a man, so damn cute! And lastly, the chemistry and sexual-ness between this couple is HUGE! Like steam fogging up my kindle screen hot. Not just the normal 'hot' either, they are 'fuck hot.'

Eventually, Leo and Scarlet get to duke it out with one another, fighting regularly while at the same time coming to terms with their underlying attraction for one another. This story was a light-hearted and humorous read, slow burn with dual POVs and some steaminess. It's not as steamy as book one and the pace is slower, but I enjoyed this story and Adele makes a couple of appearances in this book. The epilogue was a great wrap-up to their story and I look forward to reading the next book from this author.

Well, you should’ve seen me busting a move after Beguiling. I devoured Alex Lucian’s first book Tempting within a day and was eagerly waiting for Beguiling to come out. Now let me just say that Beguiling is a completely different book. Sure it has a few scenes with Adele from Tempting but it can definitely be read as a standalone. It has more of a lighter tone then Tempting and may I say that I loved it?! Enemies to friends is one of my favorite types of love stories. There’s the tension, the angst, the heated exchanges, the awkwardness that gets in the way. But when they finally hook up and it’s totally explosive…well that is the best. So keep that in mind when you pick up Beguiling because it’s between the pages. Scarlett and Leo are neighbors who used to be friends. Once high school hit, their friendship dissolved. Due to an unfortunate albeit a bit funny situation Leo is without a set of wheels for the summer and needs a ride every day to school. Enter Scarlett’s mom to the rescue when she volunteers her daughter to be his chauffeur as she has classes at the university every day. They both have their differences; him being the quarterback and her being the preacher’s daughter. Leo is a bit more outgoing where Scarlett is a bit more reserved. After a drunken one-night stand it’s apparent that these two are a perfect match in many ways. When Leo finds Scarlett’s bucket list he so kindly offers himself as a willing participant to check off the things she has on the list. One of the most important things in a book is chemistry between the two characters. Leo is something so out of this world-he’s the ultimate sweetheart who always ends up with bad luck when it comes to girls. Scarlett being so reserved needs that extra boost to get her out of her shell and Leo helps her overcome all that. From the beginning of the book until the very end there is such a change in her in a positive way. Their banter, flirting, and all-around smile-inducing scenes made this such an enjoyable read. The story was fun, sweet, and oh-my-word so off the charts HOT. I mean, at times I needed to fan myself from the sexiness overload that Leo was putting out there. I laughed out loud a lot too. The epilogue was really wonderful and you know I love a good epilogue. Beguiling is definitely one of my top recommendations for a great New Adult love story. It’s a bit forbidden, with a dash of humor, and lots of hotness!

This was just good for me, albeit a little bit too sweet and predictable. After the forbidden, lusty and dark student teacher theme in the first book this seemed a bit tame and I struggled to maintain my interest at times. It wasn't bad actually, just I've read the reformed man-whore so many times now it's got a bit old. Second in the series but stands alone. 4.5 stars! Omg, super liked Scarlet and Leo's story! I have to admit I'm a sucker for a hate to lovers book. Scarlet is the preacher's daughter who lives across the street from college football QB, Leo. They were tight as kids and drifted apart in high school when Leo became part of the in crowd and she didn't. I will say that the separation that ended up making her hate him for abandoning her was NEVER addressed and was the reason for the half star off. I didn't understand why the author would lea 4.5 stars! Omg, super liked Scarlet and Leo's story! I have to admit I'm a sucker for a hate to lovers book. I will say that the separation that ended up making her hate him for abandoning her was NEVER addressed and was the reason for the half star off. I didn't understand why the author would leave out a crucial part of the relationship. Scarlet reasoned with herself that he hadn't been cruel just drifted apart. Still... Not convinced. Especially because he started calling her church girl. They end up bonding over Scarlet always being expected to be perfect and no-one expecting anything from Leo. He didn't like anyone thinking he was capable of nothing but football. Sooo drunken sex... which was hot, and I don't care about anyone disagreeing here. My opinions are my own and let's face it, it happens. I will respect an honest view from others though. Scarlet is pretty inexperienced in life in general and has a bucket list. Leo of course decides to help. When feelings develop, he tries to make her see him and not what she's labeled him as. She is a super tough sell to the point it was a bit frustrating. Mixed signals much?! However, I'm glad she didn't just kneel and kiss the ground he walked on for showing interest. I read this in almost one sitting. (Had to stop for my son's football game, lol) and have to say I loved the push and pull. That ending was so sweet and I usually like one type of ending but thought this was a little more realistic and leaves hints that let you use your imagination. Definitely recommend to those who love hate to lovers new adult!

Oh, Leo. You never stood a chance. Neither did you, Scarlet. Friends since grade school, rich kid Leo and preacher's daughter Scarlet grew a little estranged when high school hit. largely because Leo behaved like a typical good looking, hormone-fueled teenage guy. Now the two are in college - he finishing up a football scholarship at a local Boston area school, and her embarking on vet school - and only mildly more mature. It's difficult being a preacher's daughter, even if you aren't terribly resentful about it. Scarlet has adhered to her parents' rules, but when she recalls a childhood bucket list, she decides to check off two boxes in one night: getting stinking drunk and having a one-night stand. When you have the hot sex with a hot guy, though, can you limit yourself to just one night? One of the residual effects of being the preacher's daughter, though, is a certain strength of will. Scarlet can shut down her needs with expeditious speed, sometimes leaving Leo reeling. It isn't that he sought out a love match with her, but he wasn't exactly planning on being her plaything, either. Spotting an opportunity, Leo volunteers to help Scarlet with that bucket list, bless his magnanimous heart. You first met Leo in Alex Lucian's Tempting, the story of Leo's BFF Adele and her forbidden romance with her professor. Beguiling is equally as hot and sexually charged, but it has a lighter, freer spirit. Sure, there is some angst, but Lucian avoids a repeat performance. There is more comedy in this book, and Lucian shows an adept hand at prose that makes you smile every bit as excitedly as you squeeze your thighs together. Scarlet and Leo will need to overcome some obstacles, largely hers. Leo turns out to be a charming, kind, loving guy, and no one is surprised more than he is. Lucian does not disappoint in the sexy time area, writing hot - and I do mean HOT - sex scenes. Leo and Scarlet sure do rock that headboard, faithful readers. You might want to strap on your vibrators for this one. I liked this book quite a bit, mostly because of Leo. Scarlet tries to fight him, and that, too, is entertaining to read. These two may not have had forever in mind, but forever has them in its grip. Disclaimer: review copy provided by the publisher in exchange for an unbiased review. I LOVE Alex Lucian’s writing. When he hit the scene with Tempting, I knew, *KNEW* that he was an author to keep an eye on. His second book Beguiling is no different. I absolutely loved it. The writing, the characters, the storyline…impeccable. Beguiling was just as intoxicating as Tempting was but on a lighter note. Where Tempting was more forbidden and a little bit darker, Beguiling was lighter, a little more comical with some fun, witty banter thrown in. Leo, the starting college quarterback, and Scarlet, the straight-laced preacher’s daughter, who knew that hate could be so hot. The boy is persistent that is for sure, and Scarlet is just as obstinate to not let Leo crack her hardened exterior, and he only has 6 weeks to accomplish his goal. Beguiling was a story that I dove into head first, and didn’t really come up for air until I was finished. I fell in love with Leo, and his charm. I loved Scarlet and her firecracker personality. I can’t wait to see where else Alex takes us. He has proven that he can write a fabulous story, and I will follow him where ever he goes to get more of his words.

Sweet and sexy! The preacher's daughter and the star quarterback? A match made in heaven! =) I absolutely loved this book! When it is forced upon her to help out her neighbor with a ride to school everyday, who is she to say no? She knows that it will be a long summer to get through while having to deal with her annoying neighbor, Leo Madsen. Quarterback of his college football team, Leo is good looking, rich, popular, and a manwhore! All things Scarlet hates even if she is still attracted to him. Leo Madsen is not your typical quarterback though. He actually doesn't have good luck with women. His father doesn't put too much stock in him and leaves him to lead his bachelor life. He's home for the summer and is car-less, therefore needing to count on Scarlet for his rides. When one night leads to them having the best sex of their lives, they both are unprepared for the wild ride ahead! Emotions will fly high, the thin line between love and hate is blurred, and a sexy bucket list is having many things crossed off! Leo and Scarlet's story is full of laughs, love, drama, and sexiness!

Absolutely loved! This is the 2nd book I've read by this author & I'm a fan. This Leo & Scarlett's story was well developed & the characters have known each other for a long time. She thought he was a man whore & he just thought she was a bitch. The fact that their parents houses are across the street from each other and they have to see each other on a regular basis during the summer had some very entertaining moments. Leo, for the life of him, cannot figure out why Scarlett can't stand him. But Absolutely loved! This is the 2nd book I've read by this author & I'm a fan. Loved getting to know these two characters & there were many LOL moments & steamy ones, too. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

alex Lucian knows how to create believable characters. Scarlet was nothing like a Adele, and yet, just as badass in her own "control freak" kind of way, and Leo owns my heart since book 1, so suffice to say, I loved him just as much. I was also surprised about how funny the story was, giving how serious Tempting got at times. Overall, Fun, sexy story, and really cool writer. Definitely writing more of her books. alex Lucian knows how to create believable characters. Oh Leo Sweet Leo. I loved him in Tempting. Not your typical jock, with a spunky, sexy woman as a best friend. The build-up in this book was great. The sexy times were the perfect amount of detail. The love was stellar. Great book.
