I received an ARC of this book from one of the authors, Angela Campbell, this does not affect my opinion of this book or the content of my review. I haven't reviewed one of these massive anthologies in a while, but it was time and I really like some of the authors. So I went for it. Bear with me through what will probably be a fairly massive review. Terror Mansion Here we have a psychic detective hero who tries to think alpha, but somehow mostly comes across as a flop. Bear with me through what will probably be a fairly massive review. Terror Mansion Here we have a psychic detective hero who tries to think alpha, but somehow mostly comes across as a flop. Our heroine is a silversmith who seems to have no friends or outside life, and everyone hates her. While the premise is interesting and the multi-pronged mystery kept me engaged and reading, I struggled to like or empathize with the characters. He was a little too stereotypical alpha (in presentation) and she was a little too damsel in distress for my tastes. And the shorter format didn't allow enough time to really dig into the characters or show real growth. This one just wasn't my favorite. Nightgazer Wizards and Queens and a murderous ruling house. This one I enjoyed immensely right from the start. A heroine who isn't afraid to turn her hands to hard work, a cackling mad and damaged hero, and a fairly novel fantasy world that manages to do quite a bit of world building in a fairly short time. Be forewarned, there are some remarkably gory parts. But as a whole, this one is excellent. Gorgeous Nightmare This one has some catnip to it. A paranormal (in this case psychic) hero, the older brother's best friend, a second chance at romance, a heroine who might be in danger but is no shrinking violet, and a plot pet. It just called to me, seriously, this one is wrapped up in so many things that I love. And it was tricksy and twisty, I never saw the curve ball coming. Good stuff, but I have one minor complain, I needed more of the cat. Save by the Trickster I'll be honest, I didn't even try this one. I am so burnt out on anything that remotely mentions religion right now that I didn't even try. My apologies to the author. Tall, Tall Trees This one I found the plot to be a clever, meta sort of play. But I struggled to initially warm up to the two main characters. There were quite a number of clinches and they just didn't work for me. But I think the ending mostly made up for it. Not my favorite out of the bunch, but not a bad read. Devil of Bourbon Street This is the one that I was anticipating, and I am pleased to report that I was not disappointed. There were a couple of negatives in that the police procedural side was played kind of fast and loose and one of the female characters was somewhat vilified for no real good reason that I can see. But overall I liked the two main characters, I enjoyed the themes, and the plot was satisfying. Plus, there was a plot pet, and I love those. Raven's Song I almost didn't read this one, as it is set between two existing books. But I peeked at the first page, and then I read another, and another. So then after taking a peek at the other books' blurbs, I went ahead and dove right in. This short story about a dark mage, reformed, had me wanting to read the other books in the series. Very interesting Urban fantsy world and complex characters I wouldn't mind getting to know better. I love me some ambivalent or even amoral heroes. Healer of the Nile So I didn't get to this one until way too late. But I had to read it anyway. Set in ancient Egypt this was a sweet and cute little story. Charming might be the best word to describe it. So the whole book ended up on a nice high note. It is really tough to rate anthologies like this when there are such a range of entries that varied so much in my enjoyment. I mean my favorites might rate a 5, but the book as a whole does't. So I think I will go with a 4 on the basis of the stronger stories.

I'll delete this preview after I write the last review for the final story. I bought this for the Angela Campbell story. I like her style. I'll review each story as they are found in the box set identified by name. Terror Mansion The premise behind this one was interesting. Unfortunately the heroine/hero dynamic wasn't my favorite. The heroine seemed a little too in need of someone to save her rather than having a big part of saving herself. I prefer my heroines a little more involved in their own rescues. Also, I don't really care for the whole virgin (but prior near rape) paired with the guy who views girls as just something to screw, not to stay with, until the One. Just a personal preference. This one was therefore a miss and I probably wouldn't seek out more by this author because I'm not sure her dynamics would suit me. Nightgazer This one was different, and it wasn't my ideal book fit either. A novella is already fairly short on character and relationship dynamic. To then focus the little time on sexual dynamic and then straight to love (insta lust/insta love) didn't really work for me. Plus the hero seemed a little clueless. He's supposed to be a bit off and a different sort of hero so some readers will like him better than others. At least the heroine showed a lot of courage and didn't wait around for the hero to save her so she gets points for that. It does get a little dark so those who are sensitive to that might want to consider that before reading. It wasn't too gruesome but it does touch on it. In the end, I don't think I'll be seeking out books by this author. She seemed to trying to work in a BDSM angle in the paranormal romance and it just came off as odd to me. It seems like from the author notes/description at the end that this is her thing but it isn't mine. Gorgeous Nightmare When I started this story I thought a bait and switch had occurred. I expect great things from Angela Campbell and strong heroines. At first the heroine describes herself as a tough lady but when the hero comes in she seems to get swept up with him and he runs over her. For a while she just seems to be adrift in the current everyone else is making. I was shocked at the beginning. Where was the Angela Campbell that I love? After a while more is revealed and you see that the heroine really is stronger and more involved in her own story and life than what first appears. As the story unfolded I was very satisfied with the way the heroine worked out. I can't say more without spoilers. Suffice it to say that she was a sold heroine when you see the big picture. Because I am greedy, I would have loved for this one to be expanded. There were some things that I could have used more information about but that is the nature of a novella. I usually want just a little more. I thought there was room for that in this novella. I wouldn't mind reading a story/novella about the pair working together in the future. I think that there is some really good chemistry and great potential for working together in the future that could make a good read. Solid 4 stars Saved by the Trickster Erotica. I grew bored with all the sex scenes since that was the basis of the novella. I bought this box set for PNR/Fantasy/Urban Fiction short stories so keep in mind that some of these stories fall on the line or squarely in the erotica category and it wasn't what I was looking for. This one was definitely erotica. Nightgazer rode the line in between PNR and erotica as well but probably had just enough plot and world building to eek out a PNR/Fantasy category. Aside from that, this particular story had some weird underlying themes. I wasn't sure how I took it but since I was bored with all the sex I didn't try to look at it too hard. Tall, Tall Trees Seems inspired by a child like look at the world. That is not meant as a criticism but an observation. Not bad but could have been more too. of Bourbon Street The suspense part of this story wasn't much. It was more of a reason to get the hero and heroine together. I think this story had decent bones and the characters were interesting but it would have benefited greatly if it had been expanded. Things happen so fast that it loses impact, icluding believability in the couples love. Also, the whole part about the hero being invited into an investigation in another city because he is a police officer is not believable in the least.

I'm a huge paranormal romance fan. It's one of my favorite genres. The books in this set were great reads and had a variety of different stories from wizards to healers, fallen angels to small lands...each story was unique and a fun read. Fans of paranormal romance will enjoy this set since there's a story for everyone!

Here Be Magic Box Set has eight great stories by authors Rebecca York, Joely Sue Burkhart, Angela Campbell, Shona Husk, Linda Mooney, Shawna Reppert, Veronica Scott, and Cindy Spencer Pape. All of these stories are really original and I couldn't stop reading. They really are captivating and so full of wonder and love I never wanted this anthology to end. I picked out a couple of my favorites for this review. But all of these stories are great and are must reads for any paranormal lover. Saved by the Trickster by Shona Husk, I loved the twist on the fight for good and evil and the souls of man. I must one day have more from this universe tricksters are now my favorite good guys! In this story we have Zander a Celestial Warrior who has fallen. He stole some ambrosia and now he must spend a month as a mortal. This is a test, to see if darkness or light rules Zander's soul now. I love Zander he is kind, sweet, sexy, and a true warrior at heart. He really fights his inner demons and tries to do the right thing. I loved his spirit. Lysanna is a trickster- a demi god. She makes people believe in the light and wonder of the world by using her magic. She is getting a bit jaded with people. She has had assistants who steal and lie to her. She really needs someone to make her believe in the good of mankind again. I liked she is a woman who takes charge. She is not afraid to be in control. But she soon learns sometimes love comes when you lose control and let others into your heart. This story made me smile and really believe in true love conquering all. Really loved this author's tricksters. I would love to read more about them in the future. My next pick is Night Gazer by Joely Sue Burkhart. This story has Matilda the 23rd princess of the Tyrant. She is hiding away as a seamstress from her evil family. She is 23 years old and values her independence above all else. She has no real need for claiming the thrown. She just wants to live her life out in peace. Oyrin is a wizard. He is hiding himself. Mostly because he doesn't want to be used by the royal family like his former teacher had been. He wants to be free too, and has lost all hope till he meets Matilda. Together these two face danger, love, and powerful enemies to find their happily ever after. I really adored this world. I would love to have a series with the wizards in them, this is really a story to remember. Over all Here Be Magic is a paranormal lover's dream read. I couldn't stop reading myself and I would love more. I hope these authors get together again to do another boxed set I know I would be in line to read and pick it up. Five Shooting Stars

Collection of diverse novellas with a fantasy element. Ranging from romantic suspense with a psychic character (Terror Mansion, Gorgeous Nightmare and Devil of Bourbon Street), to fantasy romance (Nightgazer, Tall Tall Trees and Saved by the Trickster), to urban fantasy (Raven's Song) and historical paranormal romance (Healer of the Nile) there's something here for everyone. I don't have time to do write reviews of all of them, but here are my faves: Gorgeous Nightmare by Angela Campbell Newbie FBI Collection of diverse novellas with a fantasy element. I don't have time to do write reviews of all of them, but here are my faves: Gorgeous Nightmare by Angela Campbell Newbie FBI agent Dakota meets up with her teenage crush Tyler while stalking (and being stalked in turn) by some dangerous killers. It made for a neat reversal to see the girl with the gun and the guy with the psychic talent, and I really liked the strength Dakota showed at the end. Nightgazer by Joely Sue Burkhardt The fantasy romance subgenre often misses the mark for me on the magic side of the equation, but this one had a satisfying world and a unique magic system as well as some hot scenes! Healer of the Nile by Veronica Scott Eqyptian gods and a well-researched historical setting. A sweet romance between poor healer Mehyta and the high family's son who's been brought home from war in a coma and who's expected to die--but, of course, doesn't due to Mehyta's strength.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Ever since the first book I wrote from Joely Sue Burkhart, I was already a big fan. I like her BDSM romances because they all have that edgy and suspenseful atmosphere that keeps me on my toes and keeps me guessing what's going to happen next. When I was offered to review Here Be Magic, which contains one of her stories, Nightgazer, I was all on board. Nevertheless, I knew I was right about her being a wonderful writer. Nightgazer was able to execute a good world building despite the fact that it's only a novella. I don't always see that on short books, but Nightgazer is one of those stories that hooked me into its world in just a few pages. Being that this book is an anthology, I won't focus too much on Nightgazer alone because there are other stories in the book that I quite enjoyed. There were some stories that didn't work that well for me, but overall, Here Be Magic contains a story for everyone. I mean, each reader will surely find at least one favorite. Even if you don't always read PNR, I still suggest you check out this book because the novellas inside will certainly keep you entertained.

It made me want to go back and read it a second time. Nothing from this author has let me down yet and I look forward to reading the other stories in this anthology.

I bought this book because Angela Campbell has become a favorite author. I'm glad I did because I discovered some new authors that I enjoyed but had never heard of before. Each story was different, but enjoyable. I honestly didn't dislike any, although there were some standouts in my opinion. First, of course, "Gorgeous Nightmare" by Campbell did not disappoint and was another excellent romantic mystery. My only complaint: I wish it had been longer. I really enjoyed all the surprises.
