DNF at 31%, I just couldn't bear it any longer. Belladonna Dupre is trying to recover her family's lost fortune from a shipwreck. Women in her family have a tendency to fall for bad boys who steal their money and/ or their hearts and she is determined to wise up after she was played for a fool by Phillip McCormack who turned out to be a conman who invested all the family's remaining money in a crooked investment company. When Bella's agent tells her he has found someone willing to back her project to find the shipwreck, on the proviso that she use his recommended dive and recovery team. Only after she agrees does she find out that the captain of the dive and recovery team (and, if she did but know it, the anonymous investor backing the project) is Phillip's illegitimate half-brother Tucker McCormack. Tucker has a grudge against his half-brother who left Tucker and his mother destitute after their father died. Now Tucker is going to mount a hostile take-over and dismantle the McCormack Company. I didn't quite understand why Tucker is set on managing this dive and salvage operation - maybe that would become clear if I had read further. What forced me to DNF was that for all her headstrong ways Bella was pathetic and Tucker was a hypocrite. Tucker speaks to the all male crew and reinforces his existing no-fraternisation rule because no woman should feel unsafe or intimidated on board. Then he corners Bella on several occasions, breaks into her cabin with his master key, gets into her personal space, strokes her hair and face, and then invites her to dinner, just the two of them, with a bottle of wine in his private quarters. But that's not fraternisation? Bella is contradictory. Apparently she blurts out the first thing that comes to mind and often regrets it. But Tucker accuses her of running away from confrontations. Although, since he is in charge (because he is of course the investor), what point there would be in Bella staying to argue when he lays down the law anyway? So despite Bella being determined not to be swayed by another bad boy, particularly one related to Phillip McCormack she accepts his invitation to a private dinner - WTF! I know the label TSTL doesn't really apply outside horror and romantic suspense but I have to apply it in this case. I've seen cooked spaghetti with more backbone. This was my first book by Theresa Meyer and I don't think I'll be looking out for any others based on this one.

When the dream becomes a reality, complications arise with the head of the salvage team, Tucker McCormack. She has already suffered at the hands of the McCormacks, in fact, they are one of the reasons she is in over her head in debt. But Tucker has his own bone to pick with the McCormacks. So warily, she moves forward with her plans, but the attraction between them is hard to resist in spite of the "no fraternizing" rule on the salvage ship. The stars have much more than they expected in store for their futures, but which of them is willing enough to let go of the past in order the make all their dreams come true. A sweet, adventurous and steamy novel about letting go of your preconceived notions and embracing the opportunities staring you right in the face. ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

This one had a great start, but somewhere around the end, I wanted to literally kill Tucker. I loved Bella, she was a great girl. Not only following her passion but also being loyal to her family and their legacy. Loved her. As for Tucker, he didn’t start bad, but it was after the expedition was over that I wanted to punch him really bad. I liked Bella’s ending of the story, exactly what she deserved all along. Tucker? Not so much, lol. This one was the last book in the ‘Men of Zodiac’ (at least for this year). I loved some and others, not so much, but overall it was a fun series. Not sure if they have something planned for next year, maybe something girl centered? (calendar girls or something? lol), but I’ll be on the look out if they do have something. :-) *Thank you to Entangled Publishing for providing an ARC in exchange of my honest opinion*

This story had a basic plot that always interests me - that of shipwrecks, dives, antiquities and the like. It was obviously well researched and had a good mix of scenes involving the finding of the wreck and the dives to recover its treasures. Where the story faltered for me a bit was the romance. On the whole I enjoyed this tale, mostly because of the salvage plot – that was fun and different, and precisely what drew me to this book in the first place. As for Bella and Tuck, well, they were interesting characters, both stubborn and determined and driven by their pasts, but both equally prone to foolish things. I kept wanting to like Bella. She’s smart and focused and strong, except every time she made a firm stand against Tuck – for full recognition of her work, for leadership of the expedition – she almost instantly backed down. And that really annoyed me. Since she does exactly the same thing when it comes to a relationship between the two of them, I suppose she deserves points for consistency. Things do get better as the pair get to know each other and she stops trying to gain the upper hand, but only because she steps back and lets Tuck run the show. As for Tuck, he’s all right – sexy, swaggering, good at what he does, consumed by hatred for his father’s family… you know, ordinary millionaire alpha romance hero kind of things. I did like how he recognises Bella’s strengths and admires her intelligence. I didn’t like the way he handles a few things towards the end. If Bella is always backing down, then Tuck just defaults to revenge mode. The pair of them need a good shake. However, in between Bella’s foolishness at the start and Tuck’s towards the end, the story moves along quite nicely – with lots of sex and admittedly not a lot else. It’s easy to read and enjoyable, if not a real attention grabber. There are a couple of aspects of the plot that felt a little unnecessary – not least Bella’s previous relationship with Tuck’s brother, because I expected more to come from that – but I loved Bella’s aunt and I did enjoy the salvage stuff. So overall this is okay. If you’re looking for a contemporary romance that demands nothing but your reading attention, then this will fit the bill. The setting is nicely different, even if the plot is very familiar. The characters are nice enough without being too disagreeable and there’s plenty of heat to go with the romance. If you want something easy with a dash of the sea about it, then give this a try. (I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)

I didn’t love it, certainty didn’t hate it. But I was left with the something was missing feeling on this concluding story so yeah, I liked it. Tuck’s over riding need for revenge was perhaps justified – but some of the things he did to Bella weren’t – in my opinion. And unfortunately, once a character has crossed that imaginary line of mine, it is difficult for me to see them in a better light. I wish that weren’t true, but… Bella is such a strong character and she’s been through and survived so much. To see her repeatedly back down from Tucker was… disheartening for me. Other aspects of the story were extremely entertaining. The dive, the discoveries and even the passion between the main characters were good. I simply wish I could have connected with them, even liked them enough to more than… like this story. I’ve said it before and I stand by my belief that every single reader will take something totally different away from every story they read. So much is individual in reading, it has to be because a story either touches you or it doesn’t. When I say I liked a story I mean just that – it was a good story, one that I’m glad I read but not one that I’ll turn to again. It was good for the time that I read it. That’s not bad. I didn’t connect with the characters – and that is on me, not the author. I tend to take novels for what they are and how the author delivered them to me – it’s their story not mine to change around. I believe there are many people who would love Her Sworn Enemy. So please, make your own decision on this (or any book). Take a risk and pick this one up and discover this story and these characters for yourself. You may find the perfect gem of a story, and I hope you do, honestly. *I received an e-ARC of Her Sworn Enemy from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. When things get a little steamy for Tucker and Belladonna on the sea, will they be able to stay focused on their goal and get the shipwreck and Belladonna's family fortune or will they let their romance get in the way of everything and ruin it all? This is a great read and you will not be disappointed that you took the time to read it at all.

I neither liked nor disliked Bella/Tucker as a couple; both were equally single-minded in their own pursuits, unyielding in some ways and stupid and flighty in others. Blinded by their own faults and personal history, their connection however, not matter how strong it is, just didn't seem destined or convincing enough to last. But it was honestly hard to root for a pairing I didn't feel to much about, even though the writing was good and the plot was interesting in the way it combined treasured hunting and the recovery business. *ARC by netgalley (ever grateful, mind)

I've read a few "Zodiac" titles so I was excited to read this one. It started out great; I liked it at first, then it became a little difficult to read. I had trouble after awhile visualizing the couple's happily-ever-after, because other than rampant lust, there wasn't much. Tucker was an idiotic jerk, and he barely managed to redeem himself in the end. The other parts of the novel were entertaining enough that I read to the end.
