This was a fun lost love/second chance story. It reminded me of the cute movie Laws of Attraction. Becca and Carson were high school sweethearts and decide to go their separate ways after high school. They're reunited years later when their both working on the same legal case, just on opposing sides. Second Chance stories are always fun, but the added element of them being opposing each other in court was a lot of fun. Overall, a fun escape and cute read. Have you ever read a book that just strikes a chord with you? This one did just that for me! When Becca and Carson first meet, and fall in love, they are young. When Becca and Carson first meet, and fall in love, they are young. She's barely 18 and at the moment, alone in the world. Who does she turn to for advice about these runaway feelings? Her hairdresser. Uh...probably not the best person to give advice, considering she's on her sixth marriage and has a degree to practice psychology, but doesn't use it. Needless to say, this relationship went bad and all for crazy reasons. Fast forward seven years. Becca is a lawyer in her small home town and in a huge case, finds herself going up against none other than Carson--"He was one of the good guys. Even if he defended bad guys for a living." For a man who claimed to only give his heart away once, he's got some big decisions to make in the relationship department, considering that he's dating his boss's daughter. I love a book about second chances, especially when the first chance was unresolved. The chemistry was leaping off the pages in flames, yet was clean. At first, I thought Carson was kind of shallow because he really seemed to focus on appearances, but my opinion changed as I got to know him better. I love the theme that sometimes what you think is reality isn't, especially when the whole story or reasoning behind a decision is cleared up. Becca learned a few lessons in this the hard way. The big pluses for me are the characters, the romance, and the humor. Not only are Carson and Becca great, but there are a whole slew of quirky, fun, and entertaining characters, who were really brought to life. Like I mentioned before, the chemistry is incredible and the way Ms. Griffith uses descriptions really ignited it in my imagination. Again, the metaphors and analogies are well done and really added to the humorous situations and I found myself laughing quite a bit. The setting is so much fun! A ghost town? I really need to visit this place. A good romantic comedy has all of these elements, plus a little tension, and they were all tackled in a great way that left me thoroughly entertained and in love. Content: I think there were one or two mild cuss words, but otherwise clean, as far as language goes; no violence; no religious elements; mild-moderate romance (kissing, one character tries to take things a step further, but it remains clean; great chemistry). Clean! *I received a copy in exchange for an honest review*

I love how the author says in her note at the end of this book, "I don't really aspire to write the Great American Novel. Instead, I'm a big fan of escapist fiction, and I hope you enjoyed an afternoon curled up on the couch with this book." She nailed it. Her goal was accomplished because I really enjoyed my evening curled up with this book. It was an romantic escape and so much fun. This is a second chance book- characters with a history that cross paths again. He doesn’t expect to see her now, but he does…across the aisle as opposing counsel. As they battle in the courtroom, they also have to face their feelings for each other. I really enjoyed reading this book! The book switches between Becca’s and Carson’s points of view. I loved seeing what they were thinking in different situations, and laughed many times. Both were great characters, and great together. I loved the romance! That romantic tension was there between them right away. To have them encounter their ghosts from the past here in a town known for it’s ghost stories and hauntings was a perfect setting. The side characters were written well and really added to the story. Most were residents of Bisbee and really brought that small town feel to life. Ms. Griffith has a way of describing things that just makes me smile. I’m able to sit down, relax and just dive into the book, enjoying every minute. I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Will entertain until the very last word A nice story with just the right amount of romantic angst. A grave misunderstanding seven years earlier has Becca running away from Carson’s proposal. Now they are thrown together in a court battle as the two have become lawyers on the opposite sides of the court room aisle. I loved that they couldn’t stop looking at each other during the trial and especially the flirting when Court is adjourned. They could hardly concentrate on anything but each other. Fun Trial Lawyer, Second Chance Rom-Com In spite of being a fun story, this left a bad taste in my mouth. The romance part was fun and humorous. The background story was also a hoot. A cute read. Both of the main characters in the story are lawyers, so the headings of the chapters are all law terminology. I thought it was a cute way to title the chapters. Cute read. Probably could be made into a Hallmark movie script. I liked both the main characters. I had a little problem with the bad guy's logic. I mean that was a lot of ruining lives over misunderstanding one sentence said years and years ago... It would have been funny if he hadn't done so many horrible things to people. I was cringing a little in the beginning of the book since Becca was only 18 but then after the 7 year time jump I understood the age choice better and it was okay. Sex: Qui Cute read. I think this has to be one of my favorites from this author. She has such a funny way of describing situations, behaviors, and awkward circumstances all amounting to one awesome romantic comedy that never fails to entertain or get a belly laugh from me and this book is no exception. She has such a funny way of describing situations, behaviors, and awkward circumstances all amounting to one awesome romantic comedy that never fails to entertain or get a belly laugh from me and this book is no exception. The very beginning is so funny due to Becca's little "tests" she throws Carson's way, all because she listened to the wrong person. The way the misunderstandings kept piling up, one on top of the other, was just brilliant. It was a great set-up for the book and also established Becca's and Carson's individual personalities. You just can't wait to continue on with the entire thing to see how these misunderstandings will eventually be aired out so these two people, who are so obviously meant for one another, can work through those obstacles and find their way back to one another. The balance of yummy tension between the two of them and the awesome one liners in this story only add to the entertainment factor. The wonderful thing about this book is the added depth that Griffith gives her characters as they battle both external and internal conflicts. Becca is in a bit of a rut, trying to make a living by helping those who really can't pay for her legal services and fighting for the necessary self-confidence to continue on as a criminal defense lawyer. The issue for her is whether or not she actually has a knack for the work or if it's just too pathetic that she became a lawyer to feel closer to the man she rejected so long ago. Carson is dealing with the ever present pressure of climbing the corporate ladder in his firm while faced with a question of ethics when it comes to helping people who may be morally corrupt. It's a fine line between doing what's right in general and doing what's right for your client. To add to Carson's problems, he has a relationship with one crazy she-devil who may or may not truly love him, and he seems to be settling for her. Yummy conflict. When Carson and Becca run into each other again that conflict creates situations that cover a broad spectrum of human emotion and definitely makes it possible for the reader to relate to both of them, even if the reader isn't a lawyer. This one is a home run in my opinion. My verdict? Guilty of sucking you in and entertaining you from the beginning to the very end. A fun romantic journey of rediscovered love. I highly recommend it to fans of romance, happy endings, and a little bit of the law thrown in for good measure.

This is one of Jennifer Griffith's best stories ever! My heart wrenched for Carson when Becca took someone else's faulty advice on love and put his affections to the test without him knowing. And by default, he fell way short of the bar. Becca and Carson met and dated in college, where Carson proposed after a few short months. Becca turned him down based on some bad advice from her hair dresser. They meet again several years later, both lawyers now, and both still having feelings for one another. This fun, light read is well written and the characters are very likable and relatable. I enjoyed the small-town feel of Bisbee and the eclectic population there. Guilty! I admit to loving this story! It is a sweet romance that aptly shows the need of being grown up before committing yourself to marriage and the importance of following your heart rather than fortune tellers and well meaning hairdressers! In the first couple of chapters this book remind ME of Jane Austen "Persuasion"; which is MY truly favorite of Jane Austen collection. Then in the chapters to come, I couldn't help but laugh through the scenarios; I am also a wife of an attorney and can relate to the stories my husband comes home with. Overall this book put a smile on my face, and a book that I am willing to read over and over again.
