Mr. Chairman, the issue that we are about is one of the most se rions issues for this Congress and this committee, and the last thing that we need is a politicization of this process. As you know, Mr. Chairman, a number of us wrote to the intelligence community a year ago asking for that nie. And the reason why we suspect politicization is because despite numerous letters and inquiries, there was a written 2-page summary given only to members of the minority party in the Senate in the middle of the authorization de bate so that that letter could be used as part of that debate.
