Rodrick Rules, was released on February 1, 2008. At the start of the book, Greg explains how bad his summer vacation was in which after being signed up with the swim team without his consent, he had to deal with practice at 7:00 AM, being the worst swimmer on the team and his brother Rodrick annoying him about a secret that Greg is trying to keep. After Rodrick puts him in the back of his van and finds every speed bump in the town, he drops Greg off to school but Greg finds out he still has the Cheese Touch from last year. He gets away with passing it on to a new kid named Jeremy Pindle. ... Dog Days, is a novel written by American author and cartoonist Jeff Kinney, and is the fourth book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. It was released on October 12, 2009 in the USA and October 13, 2009, in Canada. Money is tight this year and Greg can't go to the beach. Greg and his friend Rowley go to Rowley's country club after school closes for the summer, but after a few weeks, Greg is not invited to return because he complains about even the smallest things, much to his disappointment. Greg doesn't want to go to the town pool with his mother and little brother because of the shower area he has to walk through to get to the pool. ... The Ugly Truth is a 2010 bestselling children's fiction book by American author and cartoonist Jeff Kinney and is the fifth book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. The story begins with Greg explaining that since he and his best friend Rowley have had a big fight, their friendship has been "history.". Susan Heffley, Greg's mother, announces that she will be going back to college for a few months in order to stimulate her mind. As a result, the Heffley men must take care of themselves, and most stability falls apart. Food is often ruined, and since Susan usually does the chores around the house, Greg is left with little clean clothes to wear. ... م؛ فروست: خاطرات یک بیعرضه جلد 2، شابک جلد 2: 9789642980826؛ چاپ دهم 1394؛ چاپ دیگر: تهران، ایرانبان، چاپ ششم 1392؛ چاپ دیگر: با عنوان: خاطرات یک بیعرضه: دفترچه آبی آسمانی؛ تهران، ایرانبان؛ 1391؛ در 224 ص؛ شابک: 9786001880865؛ موضوع: داستانهای فکاهی مصور، دفترچه های خاطرات، مدرسه ها، داستان؛ گروه سنی ب و ج از نویسندگان امریکایی - His mom bought him a diary and the book is told through his entries and comic book drawings. He is obsessed with video games, gets bullied by his older brother, and annoyed by his overprotective parents. Greg and his best friend Rowley take on middle school together, with some bumps along the way- some including Rowley becoming popular in school after Greg hits him off his bike and breaks his arm. The two’s friendship is torn apart when Greg gets Rowley in trouble for something he didn’t do, but at the end of the book, the two mend their friendship because Greg takes the blame for eating moldy cheese, even though Rowley did it. Professional Recommendation/Review #1 Matt Oldenburg (The ALAN Review) http://www.clcd.com.ezaccess.librarie... “This book is definitely meant to tickle the funny bones inside all of us. Themes include friendship, loyalty, and family, which are all relevant young adult topics. This book is great because it takes these themes and gives them a twist of humor that any young reader is sure to enjoy.” Professional Recommendation/Review #2 The Horn Book Guide Online http://www.hornbookguide.com/cgi-bin/... “His experiences--having to perform in a school play, dealing with bullies and changing friendships--are made fresh by Greg's over-the-top narration. Kinney's writing and illustrations are filled with laugh-out-loud kid humor.” Response to Two Professional Reviews I really connect to both of the reviews. I love the illustrations that are in this book- Greg’s intonation throughout the book is very montone, but his illustrations as to what goes on bring it to life. I think this book could be perfect for children who are not fond of reading, since there are connections to their own lives in it. The pictures are funny, as the Horn Book stated, which will engage readers in the story. Evaluation of Literary Elements The pictures in the book coincide with the text. They depict what the character was experiencing, although there is no color to show the mood or tone that is to be picked up from the illustration by the reader, which is opposite of Molly Bang’s text. The way the author describes everything that goes on and in such detail is a characteristic of a “well written book,” according to Tunnell et al. I think the language is easy enough for children to read and enjoy. This book could be used as a stepping stone to chapter books and “pictureless” books for younger children, since the language is easy to read and comprehend and there are still some comics and pictures. Consideration of Instructional Application I think a mini-lesson I could do for this book in a reading workshop would be to have the children analyze the feelings in the text through the descriptive words used. I think finding an underlying tone of the reader’s emotion would help the children understand the main character more, since his feelings are not always apparent in his entries.

Was recommended by another mom, who enjoyed them with her son, and said both my son and I should read them. My 8 y.o. son picked one up from the library and then asked for the rest in the series. He has since read all of them, and really enjoyed them, though they were returned before I found time to read through them.

If you're looking for something just plain funny this is without a doubt the first book you should consider. It's really easy to read (my 9-year-old brother reads one of these books in about 3 days. It took me about an hour) and it's just enjoyable for most ages. One thing I like is that Greg is just an asshole. If you're looking for something just plain funny this is without a doubt the first book you should consider. This one was my favorite! I hardly wanted to slap Greg at all for being a little jerk! I can see why kids love him & I think they are great books, but if my child had a friend like Greg he wouldn't be allowed to come over to my house. This one was my favorite!
