Its no secret that I am a huge fan of Sara Jane Stone’s books, I have pretty much devoured everything that I can lay my hands on by her in the last year or so, and Stirring Attraction continues my high quality reading run with this authors work. We initially met Dominic Fairmore and Lily Greene in the prequel novella Running Wilde which was a quick and sexy introduction to the Second Shot series, Dom is Josie’s older brother and Noah’s best friend, whose story we were given in that novella, and in the previous book Serving Trouble. Dominic figured in the latter stages of that book, in that he was injured whilst still in service, whilst Josie and Noah's story played out. Stirring Attraction takes off a year or so on from that, Noah and Josie are now settled, and Dom is now out of the Armed Forces on medical grounds. He however is far from settled, and is struggling to find a direction or any motivation to move forwards with his life. One thing is for sure returning to Forever, Oregon as he is… Injured and unemployable is not something he even wants to consider. The problem is the woman he loved and left behind is in trouble, and it would appear he may be the only one who truly believes that the threat she is feeling is real. This couple have history, and though they both initially try to deny that their feelings for each other are still there, it doesn’t take long for them both to realize that nothing between them on that front has changed. But Dom doesn’t think he really has anything to offer Lily, he is not planning on staying in town, and Lily is looking for someone that can offer her the whole package. He knew how to find home. And Lily was his. Sara Jane, once again managed to intersperse the suspense aspect into the rebuilding of the relationship between this couple, Dom is grumbly, grouchy an oh so sweet, sexy-alpha, with all the right words, he just forgets to put them together in the right way on occasion. Lily was no shy retiring violet either, and the chemistry between them, rekindled as fast as dry wood on a hot day. "I’ll watch over you. And you can watch over me…" My only niggle, is that I really wish the books were longer, I am a fast reader and I have literally inhaled the books in this series in a few hours, it is totally the author’s fault though, for writing such stellar couples and stories. "Lying in your arms-that’s the safest place in the world." I cannot wait for more, Mixing Temptation, is due for release in September, and I am hoping against hope that Caroline and Josh finally get their story told in this book. ARC generously provided by the author, and it was my absolute pleasure to provide the above honest review.

Lily is left heartbroken, she knows her heart will always belong to one man but she can't stop living just because Dom has pushed her away. Just as things are moving forward for Lily she's attacked while on her daily run. This leaves her scared and angry as no one believes her that this wasn't a random attack. Her attacker knew her and he's still out there. Once Dom finds out Lily has been hurt he comes back to town and vows to keep her safe. I loved Dom's protective side, even though he had his own demons to deal with he pushed them aside to protect the woman that still owns his heart. He will do anything to have her feel safe again. I really enjoyed watching these two passionate people reconnect and allow themselves to feel again. They were perfect for each other, they had a strong connection and their sexual chemistry was off the charts. Stirring Attraction was well written, the drama not overdone and the characters were both likable, relatable and memorable. From the first page I knew this was going to be a great read, I highly recommend this book. *I received an advance copy in exchange for my honest thoughts* Purchase Links ~ Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B015CYFEQ8/ B&N: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/stirr... iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/seco... Stirring Attraction is the second book in the Second Shot series and while I didn't love it as much as the first book I still loved reading about Dominic and Lily. They were together on and off over the years and Lily always thought he would come back home to her but after his career ended Dominic ended things and drowned himself in self pity. While he is doing that the love of his life is attacked and Dominic returns home not only to keep Lily safe but find the man who has scarred her for life. I liked how Dominic got a second chance with Lily. Right away I could still see the love they had for one another but Dominic just didn't feel whole since being hurt. Little by little his walls are starting to come down and I really enjoyed how he was fighting himself not to try with her again. While Dominic felt like he lost everything the only thing that actually helped him in this story was Lily and her love. I really enjoyed these characters and how much love they shared. There are some pretty steamy scenes but I love how Dominic wanted to things to go slow even though he wanted her bad. He wanted her safe and these two really did have some sweet moments. One of my favorite parts is when Lily is having a nightmare and Dominic runs to be by her side just to make sure she is safe no matter what she might be doing. I also really enjoyed how close this group of friends actually are. There isn't anything they wouldn't do for one another including give the other a job or fly across the country to help out. The more this series continues the more I want become a part of their close knit group! I'm really looking forward to the next book and can't wait to see what Stone will do next. Is this Stirring Attraction worth the read? Absolutely, especially if you love second chances of love and HEA as much as I do!

I honestly wasn't that impressed with this story. I found Dominic and Lily rather annoying overall, and the only thing that was saving this story was the suspense plot, which wrapped up entirely too quickly! The book overall felt short and gave me the impression that it wasn't that important in the overall storyline. The shortness of the book wound up hindering the developments of some plot points as well for me. All things considered, this was not one of the better installments. He came back several times, always leaving again with out her. After taking a bullet that left him without his Army career, he felt he wasn't good enough for Lily and chose to stay away from her. lily has finally accepted that she and Dom are over and is trying to move on when she's attacked in the park. This prompts Dom to come home. The question is - can they get back together or will he leave again once her attacker is caught? I honest to God wanted to shake some sense into Dom a few ties. He was stubborn about thinking since he wasn't a Ranger anymore that he wasn't a good enough man for Lily. As for Lily, I LOVED HER! Sure, she was scared after her attack. She knew it was personal. But she was brave and I have so much respect for her. I want to go back and read Noah and Josie's story and I'm anxious to read Caroline's. *Thanks to Tasty Book PR for a copy of this in exchange for an honest review*

4.5 Stars After a madman attacks her while she's out running, Lily Greene has been so afraid she's barely keeping it together. Her friends have helped take her mind off things, but it isn't until her ex-boyfriend, Dominic, comes back to town that she starts to feel at least a little bit safe, especially when he's decided to act as her bodyguard and try to discover the person responsible for her attack. Her friends have helped take her mind off things, but it isn't until her ex-boyfriend, Dominic, comes back to town that she starts to feel at least a little bit safe, especially when he's decided to act as her bodyguard and try to discover the person responsible for her attack. Barely surviving a shooting while a Ranger in the Army, and then losing his career as a result of it, Dominic Fairmore hasn't been able to keep from having a pity party for one. That is until his good friend, Ryan, gives him a much needed reason to snap out of it and head back to his hometown. The woman he's always loved needs him after an attack that has left her scared of her own shadow. Can he discover if the attack was personal, or a case of her being at the wrong place at the wrong time? Having loved the first book of this series, I couldn't wait to read this one, and I've got to say that it does not disappoint. Right from the beginning, this story was captivating, fast-paced, and there was no way I could put it down even for a second. Not only because it's a second chance romance, which is one of the best tropes, but because of what happens to Lily. Indeed, it made me want to know whether the heroine's attack was random or personal, and what else would happen to her. Those reasons kept me flipping the pages determined to discover what obstacles she and Dominic had to face on the road to happy ever after. The dialogue was well-written, and a nice blend of playful and intense. The intense was due to the main characters back stories and what happens to Lily. It's so hard for her not be afraid, especially when her injuries are a reminder of what happened. However, there were some light-hearted moments between Dominic and Lily that had me smiling. They were so close once, and there's no way either of them can forget what they once meant to each other. The incident when they come face-to-face again for the first time in ages made me laugh. Trust Caroline, one of the secondary characters, to do what she did because Noah, another of the secondary characters, won't let her have access to her gun anymore. Lily was strong, brave and I was glad she was willing to give Dominic a second chance, despite the fact that she was so certain he was going to leave once she was safe. She wants so much for Dominic to prove her wrong, and for him to choose her for once over leaving. That reason also kept the pages turning for me, as I wanted to know whether the hero would finally realize that he was good enough for Lily, and that she would never be happy with another man, which is proven by what happens between her and a man that isn't Dominic. While the hero, he's been through so much and the fact that Lily needs him is reason enough for him to see that how he's been acting since his near death experience isn't healthy for his recovery. He's also strong and brave, but what I liked most about Dominic was how determined he was to make Lily feel safe and discover the person responsible for attacking her. It makes him feel useful for the first time since his career in the Army ended, and definitely takes his mind off the fact that he doesn't know what he's going to do now that he can no longer be an Army Ranger. Also, I liked the way he is with his sister. They're so close, and the way he handles the fact that one of his best friends and his sister are a couple was amusing. Hot sex scenes heat up the pages of this story, and prove how much this couple still love each other. Their chemistry is off-the-charts, and the sex scenes, definitely do justice to the strong chemistry they have. Dominic has always thought Lily deserves someone better than him, especially since now he doesn't have a lot to offer. Yet, that's never really mattered to the heroine. All she's ever wanted is someone she can trust. Someone that is willing to fight for their relationship, and give her everything she wants - love, family, happiness. Overall, Ms. Stone has penned another incredible novel for her Second Shot series where the secondary characters entertained me just as much as the main ones. Caroline is a real hoot, and I liked that she's finally starting to discover that she can trust people other than the ones she already does trust. The way this story ended was wonderful, as Lily managed to trick her attacker and use what she does to her advantage. Also, I enjoyed that the heroine finally got everything she's ever wanted. I would recommend Stirring Attraction, if you enjoy second chance romances. Furthermore, I would recommend reading the first book of this series, Serving Trouble, as it introduces readers to Dominic's sister, Josie and his good friend, Noah.

Leaving Forever Oregon to become an Army Ranger would be the kind of man Lily would be proud to marry. After getting shot and almost losing his life, he hasn't returned to Forever for very long because he doesn't like the way everyone looks at him with pity in their eyes. So he stays in Georgia having his own pity party. Lily Greene has lived in Forever Oregon all her life, taking care of her mother and drunken father. She is a kindergarten teacher and loves what she does. After eating one too many brownies on the last day of school, she will run the extra pounds off. While jogging into the park, she is attacked. While most thinks it was random, she knows it was directed toward her. After weeks of trying to move past the fear, she doesn't know if she can though. When a mutual friend goes after Dominic, at the mention of Lily's name, he is ready to head back home to keep her safe. When he gets back home, he wants to believe her but the police file doesn't have a lot to go on. So Dominic will keep watch over her but can he keep his hands off her? Can Lily find peace with Dominic around or will she push him away? Will Dominic leave again or will he finally see where he belongs? i really enjoyed this story and how it began in the past. I was a little disappointed that it ended at around 85% but other than that, it was hot, steamy and full of suspense. I can't wait for Mixing Temptation, book 3, it will be Josh and Caroline's story.

Another heart stealing, tear causing, steamy read. When I finished this one I was compelled to tell the author just how I feel. I'm not able to express in words the way she is. Until a terrorist ripped his body and his life and plans apart—along with the use of his right hand. Until he sent her away. He stayed away from her as well, until a vicious man took her confidence and tore into her body. As much as she wanted him to make her feel safe, she wanted the love they had. But that didn't seem to be coming. She knew she wasn't safe, the man was out there and wanted her, It had not been random, but no one believed her. Did Dominic? This one was so touching, everyone wanted to help, but no one understood. Their love was singular and the road to finding a HEA a rough one. Their love is still hot and true, but life dealt them some horrendous blows. This is a page turner. A heart warmer. We get to visit other characters from previous stories always a good thing. And great news of a new forthcoming story of a character who has a real story to tell and a guy who just might be worthy of her. I was provided and ARC for an honest review.

Dominic Fairmore thought he had his life all planned out. He was going to become an Army Ranger, make something of himself and then come back to Lily Greene, the girl he’s always loved. Six years and a career ending injury later and Dominic feels he isn’t good enough for Lily so he breaks up with her and stays away from his hometown. Then Lily is attacked and Dominic can’t get back fast enough in order to protect her. But Lily doesn’t want Dominic to protect her when he’s only going to leave her again once the danger has passed. I’m not gonna lie, I’m a total sucker for a wounded hero, especially a military one and Dominic fit the bill. He was both a selfless and selfish character, contradicting himself constantly when it came to Lily. On the one hand he wanted to be the “bigger man” and let her go to find someone worthy of her, yet at the same time he didn’t want her to love anyone but him. Both sides of him were at war and in the end led him to the same conclusion: He still loved Lily with everything in him. I loved that he didn’t deny it, he embraced it from the start of the book and he was never ashamed of how much he loved her. How is that not totally sexy in a character? Dominic was cross eyed in love with Lily but it was his own insecurities that were holding him back and kept him from being a typical cocky guy with his own agenda. Lily was, wow a real trooper and survivor. Not only was she emotionally trying to put her life together after Dominic left her but she was physically dealing with an attack on her that left her scarred and terrified of her own shadow. Yet here she was, getting up, going to work, and taking care of herself the best she could. I loved how strong she was because she never gave up. She never gave into her fears, and she certainly didn’t expect Dominic to fix all her problems but at the same time, she wasn’t irrational and accepted his help when she truly needed it. But Lily wasn’t all trauma, doom, and gloom. She also had a quick sense of humor that kept the story from getting too deep and too serious. I really liked her. Stirring Attraction was a terribly romantic second chance romance between two people who never stopped loving each other but it also kept things fresh and exciting by throwing in some major heat, and a mystery that kept Dominic all but glued to Lily’s side. I loved watching these two reconnect and fight their way through all the obstacles that prevented them from being together. What made this book such a good read for me was that Dominic and Lily loved each other so deeply and that love never changed, despite Dominic’s accident or Lily’s PTSD. These two characters took such good care of each other despite having broken up three years prior and Sara Jane Stone did such a wonderful job of mixing the physical chemistry Dominic and Lily always had with the complicated but still strong feelings of love and uncertainty that kept them from fully committing to one another. Stirring Attraction had such a good pace to it as well, it didn’t go too fast but it didn’t drag on and on either. There was always something going on to engage my attention and my emotions. One thing I didn’t notice until I was done with the book was that while there are secondary characters in the story, it really was all about Dominic and Lily finding their way back to each other which again, was done beautifully and I felt this was one of the author’s most romantic couples. Final Verdict: Stirring Attraction made the total romantic in me sigh and that’s not easy to do. I have to say that my favorite character was Lily because she had such strength and I do love a strong female character but Dominic was no slouch either. Both characters had a lot going on but I never felt that the story wasn’t going to end on a happy note. All in all, a very good read.

Liked it The "I'm not good enough" story is getting old. Why does anyone think they get to make that decision for someone else?? I liked Dominic and Lily -- some parts of the story were a bit contrived-- a cop/military man is willing to accept that the villain was caught without verification?! And secrets -- ugh -- just tell the other person how you feel. Overall, worth the read. Liked it The "I'm not good enough" story is getting old. I don't know if he's tall, but dark and handsome, anyone? It's my weakness. Anywho...I am a faithful stalker of Sara Jane Stone's books and after reading Noah and Josie's book, Serving Trouble , I was very much looking forward to Dominic's HEA. I felt so strong for him at the end of the first book, that I was chomping at the bit to read his. We get a taste of what Dominic and Lily's relationship was like before he shipped off to the Army (Read the excerpt above if you haven't already.) at the beginning of the book. Then we are thrust forward in time after Dominic's injured and out of the armed forces, and he still hasn't drug himself back home to his family and Lily. I've read a few reviews now that have stated that just because he was hurt didn't mean he had to sulk and stay away for so long and just needed to get over it. Statements like these bother me to no end. Want to know why? They don't know what PTSD does to a solider. They are taught to be the best they can be and settle for nothing less. And let's not forget what survivors guilt does to a soldier-but that's for another time and place. All these things mess with a person's head and it's not easy for that person to just snap out of it. Then take away that person's identity as a soldier/warrier/defender, what do you have? Someone who feels like they failed. And this is just the tip of the iceberg for them. This is something I feel very passionate about seeing as I deal daily with crippling anxiety that has affected me not only mentally, but physically, as well. Just like PTSD and various mental issues soldiers have to deal with, it's not always something that can easily be fixed just because it's not seen on the outside. I could go on and on, but this is a book review, not a speil about mental illness. As I was saying, Dom had to have a wake-up call in the form of Ryan, one of Dom and Noah's best friends, travel to Georgia to drag his ass on a plane to help Lily after she is attacked. During this scene, Dominic's reaction shows just how much he still loves Lily. Talk about making my heart ache for him! The scene where Lily finally sees Dominic after months of avoidance gave me a good chuckle. I'd probably chuck a drink at his head, too. Lily was very endearing and rather enjoyed that she stuck to what she believed actually happened to her. A lot of people wouldn't have done that. Throughout this book, I was rooting for the pair. Neither has moved on from the other-hello only ever slept with each other! I found it refreshing that Sara Jane Stone kept our couple dedicated to each other no matter if they were with each other or not. That's not seen very often, and definitely not with the male lead. This, alone, showed us that if they could get past their issues, they are the type of couple that can make it for the long haul. I read this book as fast as I was able to manage around wifely and motherly responsibilities. Sexual tension, stubbornness, love, and faithfulness are just a few elements that added to this wonderful story. Dominic and Lily will hold a special place in my heart. Now I just have to find the patience to wait for Caroline and Josh's book. Now that one I have been looking forward to more than Dominic, and that's saying a lot.

Their plan was he would go off to the military accomplish his dreams and then return home to her and they would start their life together, but after he is wounded, his life plan takes a different turn, one that has him thinking Lily is far better off without him. So, she makes an attempt to move on, even dates someone new, but no matter how hard she tries to let go of what they had, her feelings for him still remain ever present in her mind and heart. When she is unexpectedly attacked, her seemly good life, is knocked off of it's axis, and she finds herself struggling to find a way to feel safe again, now more than ever she needs reassurance... reassurance in the form of strong able-bodied Army Ranger who holds the key to her heart! The minute Army Ranger Dominic Fairmore learns that the woman he loves was attacked and left injured, and in need of protection it has him wanting to return home and be with her. The problem is after suffering a life altering injury he made the decision to walk away from her permanently because he thought he couldn't be the man she needed him to be, and they haven't really spoken since. He has spent the last few months alone in his apartment feeling sorry for himself and sulking over the future that he lost, but his friends have had enough, and decide to intervene. They know he is better off returning home to Forever, and figure the only way he'll give in and finally come home is to learn that Lily needs him. She has always been the only woman he has ever wanted to be with, and they all know that he is just to stubborn to admit that walking away from her was a mistake, so they are hoping convincing him to come home and take care of her will finally open his eyes... and encourage him to finally admit that he needs her too! I have been anxiously awaiting for the opportunity to return to this series, and to have the opportunity to get better acquainted with Mr. Fairmore... and I have to say he was WELL worth the wait!!! The minute this brooding alpha walked onto the page I was completely captivated by him, he pulled me into his world and had my undivided attention, and kept me at his mercy right up and until the last page was turned. He completely won me over with his domineering personality, caring nature, smooth and sultry one liners, and unwavering dedication to see to it that Lily felt safe in her world... and had me dedicating a permanent spot in my heart for him. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute I spent with these two, their road to finding their well deserved happily ever after was a little bumpy at times, but I think that is what I liked most about it, love is messy at times, and I think seeing it unfold this way made it have a very authentic feel!! If you like your fairy tales a little of the steamy side, and armed with a few of the military's finest alpha's, dedicated satisfy your every need and desire, then look no further... this series is absolutely perfect for you!! Stirring Attraction is the second book in her Second Shot Series but you don’t need to read the first book to read this one….it stands on its own just wonderfully. Dominic is our hero and he is probably the most stubborn and hard-headed man I’ve read about in quite a while. He’s suffered a career-ending injury and is having himself a nice, big pity party for one! He has left behind the love of his life, Lily, after breaking her heart one too many times and going back on his word to return home for her. I truly liked Dominic…when he wasn’t wallowing in self-pity. I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to climb into this book and either jump his bones for how deeply he loved Lily or to just beat the hell out of him because, seriously, no man can be this pig headed! But when he receives word that Lily has been attacked and injured and he comes home to face….pretty much everything he turned his back on, he doesn’t hesitate to begin making sure that she can feel safe and secure, at least on his watch, until he leaves again. He thinks he’s a failure who doesn’t deserve her, who has nothing to offer her, and has no idea what he is going to do with his life now, let alone give her all the great things he thinks she deserves. Now our sweet heroine, Lily. Well…..Lily is fantastic! This girl is spunky and sweet and has just the right amount of sass to handle Dominic without letting her emotions or heart get trampled on again. She expects him to leave again and is happy, reluctantly at first, to have him watch over her and make her feel safe and secure while she pulls her life back together. This girl is no quitter and I admired the way she fought to keep moving forward, despite the overwhelming fear she still felt that this attack was meant for her, and not random, and that she wasn’t safe. Together these two have lots of issues to resolve…. but the chemistry and love these two feel, despite their obstacles is very emotional and packed with just the perfect amount of tension, teasing, laughter, and mind-blowing sex. Stirring Attraction is an AWESOME second chance romance book and the author clearly and poetically maps out the many peaks and valleys a couple with so much history must navigate to get back to a place where they can start building a future together. There is a quick moving but easy to follow plot, some great secondary characters to add some extra sugar and spice, and an awesome ending that left me tingling all over and feeling great hours after I read the last word. This is one author I will be happy to read more from in the future and I especially looking forward to the next book in this series. Would I Recommend This Book: Yes, especially to my reading friends who like second chance romances, reconciliation romances, and spicy contemporary romances with a little bit of suspense and a whole lotta love thrown into the mix! Dominic has always wanted to be the best man he could possibly be in order to give Lily the life she deserves, but he had to escape their small town of Forever, Oregon and enlist in the Army in order to have a chance to do that. Six years later, he never expected a terrorist bullet ripping through his hand to destroy his future as an elite Army Ranger and to rip his identity away in the blink of an eye. Now after being declared unfit to continue on active duty due to his injury and receiving an honorable discharge, he is adrift and unsure of his future as he hides away from the world in his apartment in Georgia. He has no desire to return to his hometown to pity stares and gossip that will only increase his feelings of being an utter failure, especially the one woman he has ever loved will treat him the same way, until one of his best friends arrives to put an end to his solo pity part with the news that Lily is in danger and needs his help. Lily never gave up on Dominic through his various tours of duty, but when he was injured and still refused to come back home, she reached the end of her patience with him. She gave him every possible opportunity to come back to her but she doesn't want to leave their small town any more than he wants to return to face the suffocating gossip and scrutiny. Her anger is keeping her going until she is brutally attacked on a jog through the local park, but when Dom walks through the door of his brother-in-law's bar to declare himself her new bodyguard until she is out of danger, she isn't sure if she wants to kiss him or hit him so she settles for throwing her wine glass at him instead. Neither one has ever gotten over their love for the other but the struggle to find their way back to each is not easy. Dom can't find a way to get over his feelings of failure and fear for the future, and Lily is afraid to give into the hope one more time if she is going to have her heart crushed again when he decides to leave town. His hero complex and her need to be a caretaker clash at times but they find a way to fight through as Dom searches for a way to keep her safe. As I mentioned at the start of this review, Stirring Attraction is a quick and pretty easy read. I will be the first to admit that my view of this book may be colored by the 2 stories that I read immediately preceding this one which were much more complex and emotionally heavy, but it just felt as though the drama between them was a bit contrived at times. The same feelings and denials were retread a few too many times for me and I started to skim a bit once it got to that point, but again my perception may have been skewed by my recent reads before I started this one. If you enjoy a second chance romance with some sweet, a little heat and a little bit of suspense, then give Stirring Attraction a shot.

This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review, which was first posted on book blog Will Read for Feels. There are times I think I’m done with the tortured hero trope, especially in contemporary romance. And then I read a book like Stirring Attraction, book 2 in Sara Jane Stone’s Second Shot series, and suddenly all the words I’d associated with the trope, like “tired” and “overdramatic” go flying out the window. That’s because the read was so solid I stopped thinking about the tropes and started thinking about the characters. I’ll start with our hero, Dominic, who has been discharged from his duty as an Army Ranger because of a debilitating injury to his dominant hand that’s left him unable to shoot and struggling to do everyday tasks like write or shave. He’s as desperately in love with our heroine, Lily, as he was in high school, but he doesn’t think he has anything to offer her so, predictably, he takes what he thinks is the noble route and gets himself gone from her life. Until that life is threatened, and then he’s all about being right there for her, to protect her from both the physical danger as well as do what he can to ease her emotional anguish. What I enjoyed about his character was that he started the book wallowing in self-pity, but ended up rising out of the bog in the name of love, even if it meant more heartbreak for him at the end. Of course, that was never really going to happen with his heart in the hands of our heroine, Lily. By nature she’s gentle and kind, and in a situation that echoes Dominic’s, has never loved anyone other than the guy who stole her heart in high school. When he refuses to come home to her, though, she doesn’t let heartbreak cripple her; instead she tries to get on with her life. Interestingly, my enjoyment of this character was also a journey; I found her a little too passive in the beginning, a little too willing to wait rather than chase, stalk, or pounce on what she wanted. But then through the story I saw beyond that gentle, obliging schoolmarm surface to the steel beneath, especially in her unwillingness to let her fears (of the threat to her life and of having Dominic break her heart) rule her choices. That both characters underwent this emotional journey was what really won me over about this book. And while I felt that the intrigue factor could’ve been better developed (I knew at first mention who the villain was and had what turned out to be a darned good guess at his motive, and I would’ve liked to work harder to discover his identity), I still thoroughly enjoyed reading this book—so much so that I’ve purchased the first book in the series featuring Dominic’s sister and best friend, who are very much in this story as supporting (and supportive) characters for both our hero and heroine. I’m looking forward to reading the next book, too!

Its heartbreaking to say the least. When you are hoping and wishing they are coming back, but you want your forever with them. You see the love Dominic and Lily shared at the beginning, the heartbreak there was when they had two days left, and the after effects that happened to LIly. They wanted forever, but when they say forever, what does that really mean? Lily couldn't leave to go with Dominic because of her mom, and Dominic wanted to make life the best they could have by going to be a ranger. But the few times they met up was just not enough and after Dominic got injured and couldn't be a Ranger he gave up. He gave up on life, on lily, on everything that was important and didn't come back. It tore Lily apart and she had a hard time moving on. Lily was a different lead for me. In some instances I saw her growing, but in others i saw that teenage girl that hadn't grown up. She was stronger at times when she was younger, than when she was older. She was a conflicted character for me. She was in love with a man, that didn't come back for her, but she also was this woman that was trying to move on, but couldn't find a way yet. Dominic was such a broken character. He had lost so much, but didn't realize he hadn't lost as much as he thought. He was still in love with Lily, but wanted to give her so much, when he just needed to give himself to her. After getting hurt, he thought he was no good to anyone and he hasnt been able to move on from that. What it took for Dominic to see what was in front of him was his friend, pounding on the door and telling him that something had happened to Lily, for him to pick himself up and to help the woman he was in love with for most of his life. Lily hasn't seen Dominic in forever, so the reunion is not good. Lily is absolutely broken at this time, she needs help living again and Dominic needs to bring Lily back to life again. The actions of both show that true love has to be tested, for it to work. But it also has to be tested to see if it won't. This book is not sugar coated, you see a real life couple fighting through traumatic events and trying to heal. Will they need each other to do that, or do they just need the closure to say goodbye? The story was one of the better ones I had read and the author did a great job of portraying both characters in this book. I loved all the secondary characters, and I think we will be seeing them in the next books to come. I think we will be seeing everyone again very soon and I think I would love to read about everyone in this book.

Dominic and Lily were together before he left to be an Army Ranger. Though he always planned to come back to Lily, a career ending injury left him broken so he stayed away from her. But when Dominic finds out that Lily has been attacked, he heads home to keep her safe. Though Lily has missed Dominic and still wants him, she is also afraid that as soon as she is out of danger he will leave her once again. But as the attraction between them heats up once more, so does the danger. Can Lily and Dominic get through it and find a future together, or will Dominic leave Lily yet again? I liked both Dominic and Lily. You could see that these two really loved one another despite all the time and distance between them. I never once questioned the feelings between them though. I will admit that Dominic was frustrating here though. While I understood him being broken, I hate that he had left Lily and hurt her. Lily just wanted Dominic, and yet he didn't seem to be able to see that. Lily had never stopped caring about Dominic, yet she was scared to put herself back out there with Dominic after how he had hurt her before. I really felt for her, and I hated that she had been through that. These two had a lot of chemistry though, and I was glad that while they were apart there weren't a ton of other people between them. It was refreshing to see a couple that genuinely loved and cared about each other that didn't start sleeping around despite that just because they weren't together. Overall, this was a good story and I did like the characters even when I was a bit frustrated. There were some times that things felt a bit repetitive and I found myself skimming. While I liked the story, I didn't love it. I also felt like I was a bit more invested in the secondary characters here and I found myself wanting to get more of them than the main characters at times. I am looking forward to the next in the series and seeing what Sara Jane Stone has in store for them. I think if you are a fan of second chance romance or contemporary romance novels, this series is one worth checking out. Sara Jane Stone is a great writer and I enjoyed Stirring Attraction. **ARC Provided by Publisher**

Now back in his hometown, Dominic is trying to protect her from her attacker, but still holds her on the arm's length, and not let her back in his life, in his arms, and in his heart. Lily's heart has been broken so many times, every time Dominic kissed her goodbye. And now she should just let him guard her, keep her safe, and find her attacker, until he leaves her again, and this time, for good. There's so much pain and brokenness between Dominic and Lily. The past, the present, and the wounds in their bodies. The fear of darkness, of new attacks, of getting hurt again, of tomorrow, the future, of being enough, and letting each other down, not being what the other needs and wants, it all boils between them, and keeps them from each other, yet brings them together as well. The complexity of the situation, the possibilities, and the lack of, of future, it all terrifies, and fascinates at the same time. The passion between them is as burning hot as it always has been, their loyalty to each other kept its hold, even though all the years and miles apart. The feelings they have for each other are running deep, they are raw, real, and sincere. But it takes some serious soul searching, growing, acceptance, understanding, and their lives in danger, for them to be able to face the truth, and each other, with honesty and openness about their deepest desire to share their lives with each other. This story goes so deep, the angst and fear are palpable, the love, adoration, and scorching passion Dominic and Lily have for each other is evident and constantly present. I loved their dedication to each other, the peace, the safety their felt in each other's arms, the home they were for each other. So many emotions, so much yearning, as they cherish the treasure they are for each other. Two broken souls finally find their way home, where they can heal and grow together, and support and protect each other in the process. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, and I fell in love with them, the story will pull you in, and touch your heart. Absolutely fantastic love story! ~ Five Spoons
