Wow! Molly Noble Bull knows how to get and keep her readers engaged from page one. Just when I'd think I knew what might happen next, she'd throw in another twist. Amazing and yet believable because the characters are so real. Wow! Molly Noble Bull knows how to get and keep her readers engaged from page one. Add to this a sizable ranch to run and Maggie has about all the responsibility she can handle placed squarely on her shoulders. When Maggie and Sarah find a stranger who has been shot on their property, they ignore propriety and take him home to care for him. A search of his belongings identifies him as Alex Lancaster but when he wakes up his missing memory makes it impossible to confirm that identification. Alex wakes in a strange bedroom with no idea of who he is or how he got there. The only thing he is sure of is that the beautiful woman caring for him is surely an angel. The more time he spends with her, the more captivated he becomes. If he could only remember where he came from or why he was on the Gallagher spread or why anyone would have had reason to shoot him… Can Maggie and Alex solve the mystery of who Alex is before someone finishes the job they started? Will they be able to explore their feelings for one another if he doesn’t know his own past? “When the Cowboy Rides Away” by Molly Noble Bull reminded me often of the biblical story of Jacob. Although Alex wasn’t nearly as conniving as I always thought Jacob was he did get into hot water as a result of his bad choices. At one point he even compares himself to Jacob. I loved how his honor shone through, even when he had no reason to believe he was an honorable man. Maggie is a strong woman with a deep faith. Her only flaw (that I could see) was her inability to see Roger’s ulterior motives. If you like historical western romances, pick this one up. It’s a sweet story with a major twist at the end. Don’t miss it! I received a copy of this book from bookfun.org in exchange for my honest review.

Maggie Gallagher and her younger sister, Sarah, are out for a ride and come across a handsome cowboy who was shot and seriously wounded near her home. Maggie already has her hands full—running her ranch and caring for her 10-year-old sister and orphaned 2-year-old nephew—she is a kind-hearted Christian woman so she takes him to her home and nurses him back to health. She has no idea the impact this stranger will have on her life and those she loves. Alex Lancaster opens his eyes and doesn't know where he is, how he got there or even his name. Who is this “guardian angel” nursing him and where was he? Will he ever remember who he is and the secret that brought him in search for Maggie? This historical story set in Texas near the Mexican border of 1880's is like a western movie complete with a cowboy—of course, a family struggling to keep her ranch going, mystery, Christian values and strong faith in the Lord, deception and betrayal, shocking secrets revealed, evil practices and intentions, forgiveness, new beginnings and love. All woven into a heartwarming story that is hard to put down. Molly Noble Bull includes historical notes at the beginning of the story which I found interesting. For literature programs, a teacher & student guide is available to use in a home school setting (or classroom). ~I received a PDF copy of this book from TBCN for my honest review~

I think the open and honest conversations Alex and Maggie had helped build their friendship and they love they had for each other. There are not too many romance books that take the time to build a relationship through friendship. I will admit that I wish there was a little bit more romance, but once you read the story you will definitely understand why everything happen as it did. Molly Noble Bull, will Sarah get her own story? I highly recommend this book, it will be well worth your time. Cowboys, Mystery, and Love This is an historical fiction set in Southern Texas in the 1880’s. As the title indicates, the story is filled with lots of cowboys and ranch life. If you like western romances, this is the book for you. Set on a South Texas Ranch in 1880, When the Cowboy Rides Away is also Christian fiction with a bit of suspense. The heroine is raising a younger sister and nephew as well as running the family ranch. The cowboy is shot and has amnesia. It takes a while to figure out all the details but I did put it together a bit before he regained full memory. I really enjoyed this story and recommend it to anyone who likes this genre. I know that you are going to love it. Maggie Gallagher and her little sister are going to the cemetery to put flowers on the family graves when she hears a gun shot. She finds a strange cowboy shot in the back and with head trauma. She takes him back to head quarters and with her hired help nurses him back to health. She finds a letter in his things and thirty dollars. Who is this man? Can she trust him? Alexander P. Lancaster was just released from a Mexican prison. He'd been in the prison for three years even though he had done nothing wrong He must find Dee the woman he had married and then found out the man who married them was a thief and not a minister. He must find her and make things right. He is riding along when he is shot. Now he remembers nothing about his past. An angel is the woman who cares for him. He must find out who he is and who is out to kill him. How can he have a future with her when he might be married? A great journey to find the man's identity and who is out to destroy him and the ranch. God has a plan for these two, a good plan and not of evil. God has a plan for you too, a plan for a hope and a future.

The author has done a great job of writing a western romance. The details are very picturesque and takes you back to a time where Cowboys roamed the lands working their cattle. It's time to sit back, put your boots up and get ready for a fascinating story filled with witchcraft, bank robberies, attempted murder and a bit of romance. The story reminds me of a John Wayne movie, where the cowboy is mysterious and the woman is feisty and stubborn. This combination makes for an adventure that is unpredictable and at times suspenseful . I was intrigued by the part the author wrote about the way they maked graves . Most people were poor and the only way they could mark a grave was to put chips of glass on the grave. When the sunlight caught the glass it would be a cascade of brilliant colors and show where the grave was. What a beautiful way to describe a tribute to a loved one. I enjoyed the storyline and the feel of a great western adventure. It is a intriguing book with twists and surprises that will have readers glued to the book. "When the Cowboy Rides Away" is a romantic western set in Texas that is faithful to historic detail and relates an authentic view of life on a ranch. Maggie had her hands full with a ranch to run, a younger sister and an orphaned nephew to raise. I enjoyed this story set on a south Texas ranch in the late 1800s. Maggie and Alex are Christians, and their lives reflect their faith, even when Alex doesn't remember who he is or what he was doing that led to his being shot. The romance developed as they got to know each other, but they were careful not to act on their feelings until they knew for certain that Alex wasn't married. Alex has a rough time of it, from being married by a fake (bank robbing) pastor to losing his memory while on his way to he can't remember where. Maggie's life isn't all sunshine and roses either, both her parents have died and her sister died during childbirth as a disgraced unmarried woman. She's trying to keep the ranch running while raising her younger sister and nephew on her own. This story is laced with faith and full of exciting twists and turns!
