It helps whoever recites the Qur'an or studies it to specify the locations mentioned by the Noble Verses, and to mark those places of ancient people mentioned in the Qur'an. This is besides locating areas where the incidents of the Prophetic Seerah occurred. Eventually the diligent reader will easily recognize those places, learn about them, and take heed of them while reciting. The Atlas has also revealed obscure places we used to pass through inattentively, like the site where Nuh's Ark settled, the site of the Curved Sand-Hills (Al-Ahqaf), the Cave of the young faithful men, the houses of Midian, the site of Sodom and other places determined by the Atlas depending on reliable sources. Thus the Atlas eliminates all the guessing and the fantasies we used to encounter when reciting the Noble Qur'an, and takes us to the specific place.

A nice addition to my Quran reading and study. As the title suggests, you're able to get a clearer picture of where does each of the story in the Quran occur according to the maps. It helps in shedding light and providing better context in my understanding of the Quran. Though it must be said that there's no legit references from where exactly did the author pinpoint each exact location of the said prophets and all, but honestly I think it is a nice complementary reading to accompany any Quranic A nice addition to my Quran reading and study. I stumbled upon this book at a used book store, and could not resist buying it, even though I am not a fan of Darussalam publishers. When I came home, I saw that this was actually a reprint of an Arabic publication by a Syrian publishing house, Dar Al-Fikr. I was quite excited to read that, because I thought that this might actually be some reliable and enlightening work. Unfortunately it was not. The book has too many errors to count and there are zero citations. From Turkey, to Syria to Pakistan I stumbled upon this book at a used book store, and could not resist buying it, even though I am not a fan of Darussalam publishers. From Turkey, to Syria to Pakistan to India to Egypt, Islamic publications lack citations. Infact, they are written in the same style, which is about verbosity, inaccuracy and vagueness. Readers in these countries are used to such writings, so when some book comes up with anything that resembles a map, it automatically becomes scholarly. The only few pages of this book, which contain reliable information, are about the battles that took place during the lifetime of the prophet. But that is hardly 10% of the book. Darussalam has no knowledge of history. This publication refers to the Phoenicians, the Philistines, the Byzantines, and various other peoples of history, such as the Hyskos, by vague references, since their actual names, do not seem to be known to them. You can't publish historical books, without knowing how history has classified a people. The book relies on Qasas-ul-Anbiya, which borrows heavily from Talmudic legends. It is not a reliable source. Near Eastern Studies is a discipline in prestigious American universities. Much archeological research has been undertaken to reveal findings. Darussalam seems to be living in an alternative universe, where they have no clue of these realities. Saudi Arabia has a censorship on books, and the Arab world at large does not exactly engage in publishing and reading western texts, as they do, in India. Therefore, knowledge is scant, and publishing houses themselves know little of the contemporary world. But this cannot work as an excuse to print a book on the Qur'an that contains glaring factual errors. If Darussalam can operate offices in America and England, surely they are capable of procuring relevant reference material for authors to pursue specific projects. The current practice is entirely unacceptable.

So long the book is very interesting. I have read the Prophets' stories before but this makes it more interesting with integrated knowledge of maps, Quran verses, and their stories. I have always been attracted to history and Islamic history, like which era was Alexander and what was happening with Islam then... I am enjoying it. I'll update post after finishing it, Insha Allah So long the book is very interesting.
