This is a really lovely book. I sat and read this today in one sitting. Its an easy read no headwork involved, just tuck your legs on the sofa, get a coffee and a biscuit and sit and read. She is at a crossroads in her life and just doesn't know what to do. Her marriage has split up. Her heart is broken, she expected to be married until death. She decided to 'get away from it all' and find herself, think, recharge. She moves into a lovely cottage where she has high hopes of just reflecting and trying to move forward. Except, this cottage holds secrets that she just cannot ignore. Her next door neighbor Lewis is a handsome chap. I knew that which way that would go, but, no matter with that, we still had the secrets to reveal. One night they 'get it on' after a drunken bout. But, Lewis is not what she thought he was, there is something else to Lewis, some hidden depth. And she feels its not nice. That's when I thought, hmmm perhaps they won't get together, what is wrong with Lewis, what is he hiding. Emma is in a turmoil herself, so both of them with not a straight forward life, will this end well.? * Thank you to the author for approaching me and asking if I would like to take time out and read this for a review. You were right Liz, I loved it. *

A beautiful love story across two different periods of time: 1784 and now. Told very well. I was hooked from the very start.

"First-Reads" Goodreads win. I really liked this book. It's full on intrigue and though somewhat predictable, it was very enjoyable. I only wish is was longer. Can't wait for the next one. I rarely read self-published books, not because I think that they are inferior in any way, it's just that I have so many review copies of books arrive through the letter-box that I just don't have time to fit them all in. When I saw the gorgeous cover (other self-published authors, please take note, the cover DOES make a difference), I decided to accept her offer. Siren Spirit is a novella, the paperback has just 115 pages and it can easily be read in one sitting. It's a genre defying story really, with a little bit of history mixed with contemporary romance and a dollop of erotica thrown in for good measure. It's also very readable, hugely entertaining and full of nicely created characters. Beginning in the late 1700s, the reader meets Grace, the daughter of a widowed farmer. Grace is very different to the girls in the village, she's way ahead of her time - strong-headed and wildly in love, and it's that love that will be her downfall. Fast forward to the modern day, in the same farmhouse and we meet Emma. Emma is mourning the end of her marriage. She's new to the area, she knows nobody, and when she meets Lewis, her next door neighbour she is instantly attracted. However, as handsome as Lewis is, it is another very unexpected romantic liaison that really affects Emma, and this is when the story takes a twist that I was really not expecting. I enjoyed Siren Spirit, however, because of the length of the book, there is a lack of depth to some of the characters, yet I'm not sure that there is enough of a story for it to become a full-length novel. Don't let that put any readers off though, it's certainly worth a read and I'll be interested to see what Elizabeth Hurst comes up with for the next book in the series. My thanks to the author who sent my copy for review. http://randomthingsthroughmyletterbox...

I love supernatural stories, so my interest was piqued by this novella. I was not disappointed. It cleverly combines both the supernatural, romance and historical genres, with scenes from the present and the past deftly interwoven. We have characters in whose stories we are invested and the descriptive detail is nicely balanced with realistic dialogue. I read this and the second story in the series across a weekend. I couldn't put either down, through just wanting to find out what happened next. I love supernatural stories, so my interest was piqued by this novella. I was not disappointed. How many people have ever seen a naked ghost...? A novella of just over 100 pages, featuring a time shift between 1874 and 2015. The books centres around the local blacksmith’s cottage both then and now. Then – in 1874 - Joe lived with his family there, carrying out his trade. His daughter has little interest in getting married, despite his ministrations, as she has her heart set on only one person. Dad is a widower and is actively seeking another wife for himself let alone for his daughter. Now – How many people have ever seen a naked ghost...? Now – 2015 - Emma lives in the same house, and is taking a break from life and from her collapsed marriage. Her emotions are shattered and she finds herself open and accessible to the ghost that resides in her new home. This is a ghost that needs to find peace. Emma is a woman on a mission to help the ghost find her final resting place. She is ably aided by her neighbor, handsome Lewis, who also has a personal backstory. The writing is fairly simple and flows quite well. There is a real restlessness as the story scampers from one part to the next. It feels like it would be aimed at the YA audience, but there is probably a little too much lesbian/straight sex to really be aimed at that market? Novellas can work really well, as a short, sharp piece of prose. This book feels more like an outline synopsis, awaiting some more fleshing out.

Siren Spirit is a book that consists of two stories, Grace's and Emma's. Grace is living in the 18th century and Emma in the 21st. You can imagine how different their lives are. Grace is living with her father. Ever since her mother died he is barely able to look at her since she is the spitting image of her. In the 18th century it is expected of a woman to find a husband and start a family, but for Grace this is not an option. She is in love with her best friend Suzanne. They both know that their love will always have to be hidden from the world. When the love of her life chooses another path Grace makes a heartbreaking decision. Emma was married and thought she would live the happily ever after. When her marriage falls apart she moves to a small village to find herself again. It turns out her new house isn't as empty as Emma thought it would be. Together with her handsome neighbor Lewis she is trying to put the pieces together. Liz Hurst has done a wonderful job putting two eras together in one story. I loved to find out more about Grace and liked that her story was alternated with Emma's who's researching her. Even though the stories are separate ones in the beginning they come together so naturally. Siren Spirit was very exciting. You have everything you could possibly ask for in a book, a ghost haunting a house, a gorgeous neighbor, a search for the truth combined with something that feels like a treasure hunt and last but not least love. I read this story in one sitting and I can't wait until it's summer, so I can start reading the follow-up to Siren Spirit. I'd love to read more about Emma and Lewis and about their next quest.

Siren Spirit is a paranormal mystery/romance. The main character, Emma, is a recent divorcee. Trying to escape the memories and the heartache, she moves to a cottage in a small town. After explaining the situation to him, he agrees to help her get to the bottom of the centuries old mystery. Can the two figure out what is keeping the spirit earthbound? I would first like to state that I received this free from a Goodreads giveaway. This was the perfect length for a quick beach read. However, I was caught offguard by the lesbian scenes in the book as the synopsis does not mention anything along those lines. While I found those parts to be a bit off-putting, I did enjoy the rest of the story once everything came together. A cute summer read with a mystery at its core.

This is the author’s first novella. It is interesting light reading. The characters – including Grace (the ghost) are likeable and believable under the premise of the story.

I won this book from Goodreads. I have mixed feelings about this book. It starts off good because it kept my attention. It starts off with Grace, who was from a different century. This is a quick read in The Lost Souls Series. Main character is divorced and struggling to get on with her new life. She moves into the country into a haunted house. The ghost makes herself known and a lesbian act occurs more than once with thew main character who has also become involved with her male neighbor. Is not my kind of book though not a bad read, Decide for yourself.

There were grammatical errors. Absolutely no relationships or characters were properly fleshed out. Everything required much more in depth development. It was a sweet story but I'd have liked to been given the chance of forming connections. Everything was too brisk. There were grammatical errors.
