I was born in Georgetown, South Carolina, in 1950 the day after Christmas. My father was a minister. I never thought that I would follow in his footsteps, but I did. I received my education in California. One day I decided to come home. I didn't know what to expect as far as the job market was concerned. I couldn't find work in my field so I worked at what I could find. My I was born in Georgetown, South Carolina, in 1950 the day after Christmas. My father was a minister. My frustration led to drugs, and one day I found myself sitting in a cold jail cell. That is where my change began. I had been praying for God to deliver me from drugs, and that is what He did. God delivered me from drugs and all of the other habits that controlled my life while I sat in jail for ten months. He gave me a purpose to live drug free and He also gave me the gift of writing. God showed me a better way of life. God could not reach me in the world, so jail was God's way for me. I thank God for my deliverance, and for Him ministering to me through the poems He inspired me to write. I give God all the glory for what He has done. It took jail for me to know what God had planned for my life. The first poem God inspired me to write was, "Get High on God," and that's what I do daily.
