This book totally fuel me up to keep chasing my dreams and goals. The main idea of this book is about success is not a destination, but it is the journey of our whole life. Success is for everyone, not just for the lucky, the talented or privileged ones. Success is for homemakers, students, business people and even soon-to-be retirees. There's no complex formula for success. We just need to know our purpose, grow to our maximum potential, and sow seeds that benefit others. I picked this book up on a whim at a FedEx Office. I think this is a great book (would be a great gift) for a specific audience. I'm not that audience having read many a self-help book and article of this category. I've already started that journey and I believe this is more of a beginner book, but it has a bunch of great tips and reminders for people who feel burnt out. I would definitely recommend this as a gift for someone you know is in a rut and is religious. Maxwell isn't obnoxious with his I picked this book up on a whim at a FedEx Office. I would definitely recommend this as a gift for someone you know is in a rut and is religious. Maxwell isn't obnoxious with his religion, but he was a pastor and his writing style is friendly and simple. I bought this book because of the writing style. Compared to the process-driven "What Color is your Parachute: 2017" (which I'm also reading) this is romantic and filled with quotes and anecdotes. The pointers are good for anyone and the read is pleasant. If you're not a Christian (like me), the tone of this book might be off-putting at times. Yes, there are Bible verses, stories from the Bible and he makes God a top priority. Don't let that deter you, it's a great book. Maxwell manages to fit a lot of helpful information in a brief book. If you're already into the journey you'll probably be familiar with the 3 successful things: Finding your purpose (dream/wish/w/e) followed up by fulfilling your potential (being a life learner, improving upon your abilities) and last, but not least, sewing seeds for others. The last part of the book was important and core to Maxwell's overall system. Not many books focus on how to balance success with family and helping others reach their full potential. This last part is about community and what you bring to it and leave it with. For me, that last part was worth the entire read and the perspective he's coming from is refreshing.

I enjoyed this in parts and was bored in others. Lots of platitudes but also good reminders. Find passion and go for it. Was motivating in the way of hammering not giving up. I really loved many of the quotes. You can tell he has droves of them filed away and they were inspirational ideas for getting going in the right direction and Not Stopping. Maxwell is really focused on leadership and would be a great read for someone running a company/organization. Just maybe wasn’t what I was looking for I enjoyed this in parts and was bored in others. 2 out of 5 stars. I was not impressed with this book. In general, his success pointers are thoughtful and thought provoking, but like many self help books this is about 100 pages too long. It also is full of anecdotal stories that seem like an excuse for the author to explain how successful he is. In the end I didn’t connect to the author or his stories, but I will remember to focus on my dream. #bookreview #leadership #notimpressed #bibliophile #bookworm

John Maxwell Took Another Step & So Did I I have been reading John Maxwell's Books for over 25 years. This book with it's emphasis on mentorship resonated loudly. I believe Maxwell stretched deeper down that road than in prior books. Perhaps, I have matured to receive this message more clearly at this time. Regardless, I enjoyed the book and will recommend it to colleagues and younger leaders in my life! Good for the growth oriented. He is very easy to read. His anecdotes are on point if a tad frequent. :-) Very helpful information! Application required! Not a book you’ll read once. I had many highlights (kindle version). I find his books good for keeping me focused toward growth as pertains to work.

    1. Know your purpose (make goals and work towards them) 2. Grow to your max potential (resist fear and don't give up) 3. Benefit others (family is important, surround yourself with growth-oriented people, and mentor others). It could have been said much more succinctly and with less "it worked for me and it can work for you too!" 1. Know your purpose (make goals and work towards them) 2. Breaks it down to the core. Easy to read with a few good storys but better bullet points with supporting ideas. Was able to read it in three days, taking notes along the way.

Consult to April is an inspirational blog focused on helping people determine their purpose, grow to their maximum potential, and sow seeds that benefit others. Where did I get these ideas? From John C. Maxwell. John C. Maxwell The first ever inspirational book I read was John C. Maxwell’s “3 Things Successful Do”. The book title is so simple that you would think it contains common insights and tips on how to be successful. However, it isn’t. The book “3 Things Successful Do” is defined by John as the roadmap that will change our lives. And I can attest to that. Maxwell, through his writings, has changed me into a whole new different me. How? Let me tell you. I am an ambitious person. I don’t stop dreaming. I believe that everything will be in place as long as I do something about it. And In order to be successful, I need to do everything to make it happen. Maxwell’s book has approved my thoughts, however; there are things that I missed and has never considered. And his book made me realized it. Let’s go back to my blog’s purpose: Help people determine their purpose, grow to their maximum potential, and sow seeds that benefit others. If you will ask me if I found my purpose, I will answer you, yes! I am a writer, a consultant, and a trainer. If you will ask me if I have grown, I am on my way there. I am growing to be a better version of myself. If you ask me if I have already sowed seed that would benefit others, sorry but not yet! I never thought of that. Sorry again. My family is the nearest “others” that I can consider, but how about the other “others”? I am guilty! I was too selfish, indeed! My website’s goal was inspired by John Maxwell’s definition of success. And to be a success, we have to achieve those things, slowly but surely, and help people to be successful, too. Success We all know that success doesn’t happen overnight. It is a gradual process that comes in time. We will face challenges, pains, and detours, but we should keep going. And when we fail, failing forward should be our aim. Most of the time, we also need to unload and choose which, what, and who to carry during the journey. Not everything and everyone can be with us. That’s one of the challenges we must conquer. And to do that, we must decide firmly and wisely. Guys, success is so vague. I can’t define it. But… YOU… can define it! We have a diverse meaning of success. But we should realize that true success happens when we share our blessings with others. John Maxwell is an eye-opener. Thank you! And as a promise, I will share your word and knowledge to everyone through Consult to April. Dear all, I will post more about the book on my blog under life hacks. John Maxwell is one of my favorite motivational coaches, having first discovered him through Success Magazine. I will be keeping this book close by and referring to it often as I chart my own path to success. The quotes, success stories and relevant examples are inspiring and motivating.
