Sally had always wanted to have a pet dog. She had already prepared everything that a dog needs, like its own bed, collar, leash, even its own teddy bear. Oh, and she had gotten it a dog bowl with its name on it - Duke. Except, she was not allowed to own a dog. Because she's allergic. To dogs. To cats.. To everything that has fur. Too bad. When her mom got her a new pet, Sally wasn't pleased at all. It was no dog, no cat, not anything furry. But in the end, she realized, it was better than she ha Sally had always wanted to have a pet dog. His two older brothers actually have pet love birds which they occasionally feed , but my youngest wanted a cat. I haven't gotten him one because I am afraid he might get allergic reaction to its fur. Although, I am considering it but only when he is older and more responsible in taking care of any living creatures. (The last time we went to their grandparents' house, he almost trampled and suffocated their kitten and had coughed all night). As a mom, I like this book because it helps me prepare my youngest to a possible heartbreak in the future if I don't get him the one he wants. At least I can think of alternative pets if ever he's got allergies on furry animals. Thanks Kerry McQuaide for this wonderful story!
