Excellent resource!! The book Fruit Infused Water is an excellent book filed with the most ways to infuse water I've ever seen. But not only great ways to add more flavor to my water regimen, the author also talks about the health benefits of various fruits and herbs, as well as a vast bibliography, and sources for buying items.

Fruit Infused Water: 98 Delicious Recipes for Your Fruit Infuser Water Pitcher was a Christmas gift along with a water bottle-sized infuser. I read the book immediately with my trusty pack of sticky-notes to mark the recipes I want to try first. The book is set up by chapters that give facts and recipes for ten types of infusions plus a chapter on fruity snacks. The chapters on antioxidant infusions, vitamin-rich infusions, and energizing infusions were my favorites. There are hints in boldface type below many of the recipes that help with selecting and handling ingrediants to create the best infused waters. I liked the lists that described the individual benefits of specific fruits and herbs. Have you ever heard of a muddle? This word was new to me and I'm sure that use of this tool can only enhance the flavor of the waters I create. What a fun read and useful, too!

The recipes for fruit infusion are great and the advice to get the most out of your fruit was helpful. Overall, I found the book a little strange. It talks about the properties of the fruits, but we aren't eating them so I'm not sure one is getting any health benefit a whole fruit would provide. The book talks about how dangerous sugar is, but again part of what we are pulling out of the fruit is the sugar. Fruit infused water is certainly better than juice or soda but I don't know it's as healthy as straight water or even unsweet tea. Obviously these are questions we'd need more research to have answers for, but I did find aspects implying health benefit to be misleading. A good recipe book but a bad health book.

I love being able to experiment with different fruits and herbs in my infuser water pitcher as well as my infuser water bottle. The recipes are fabulous and many include useful tips and hints at the bottom of the page. I also love that the book invites and explains the use of so many herbs and spices. My favorite so far is the Blueberry, Orange, Lime, and Thyme Infusion, a marvelous blend to help soothe the symptoms of a cough or cold. This book is packed with so much information that it will aid the art of infusing from a beginner to expanding the knowledge of a seasoned user.
