In this fascinating magical world that author A.E.M. has created, we are once again with the main character from the first book, Charlotte. We find her feeling alone and isolated. The magical world she has known is changing at a quick pace, and she is feeling the despair that comes with not knowing who she really is or what she can do. She is left feeling powerless because she needs guidance with learning how to control whatever powers she has. This doesn’t help when she is a danger to those aro In this fascinating magical world that author A.E.M. has created, we are once again with the main character from the first book, Charlotte. We find her feeling alone and isolated. The magical world she has known is changing at a quick pace, and she is feeling the despair that comes with not knowing who she really is or what she can do. She is left feeling powerless because she needs guidance with learning how to control whatever powers she has. This doesn’t help when she is a danger to those around her, including her love interest. Her touch could ignite them into flames if she is not careful. As a reader, I felt Charlotte’s isolation from the onset, and it is here where the two new male characters step in; one will be her master who will be there to guide her every step of the way — to teach her and to help her evolve. The other will also be there to offer assistance and wisdom. This “apprenticeship” however, comes at a price. Charlotte must forgo most of her personal space and learn to be an obedient and diligent student until she is ready to be a friend and an equal much later in the master/protégé relationship. However, vivacious and determined Charlotte will do anything to hold on to her independence but will her unwillingness to learn and to hand over the reins be her downfall? The author, once again, showcases her vivid imagination in this latest instalment of the Endeavor series. Her fascinating imagination left me mesmerised with her ability to create such a magical story packed with strange creatures; spellbinding worlds within worlds full of colour, humour, joy, and evil. I wanted so much to find out what happens to our wonderful, fearless protagonist. I was also excited to discover new characters and to find out more about the evil forces that lurk around her. From the prologue we witness these evil forces, and as a reader I was ready to fasten my seatbelt and jump on board this magical ride. I had to know how the evil forces will impact Charlotte and how they may affect those she loves. I was also amazed at the author’s ability to tap into deep emotions and explore behaviours that are so authentic. The back and forth relationship between Charlotte and her teacher/master is so well done that I could actually envision the arguments and humorous exchanges so vividly. Overall, this was another well-written, riveting, whimsical read. I was completely enthralled with the story, and I can’t wait to read more about Charlotte and the many other interesting characters in this skilfully written series.
