A well written first chapter in a military opera that I plan to keep reading. The main characters is well developed and interesting.

Technically Correct Historical Novella The major premise of this work is well conceived. The history involved is well researched. Technically correct, I have no complaints with the story itself. However, this work loses two stars because of incredibly shallow characterization. Most of the story is carried forward by exposition. Most of the dialogue is stilted and ineffectual. In short we learn little about the main protagonist to make us care about him. Neither exciting nor accurate. This could have been a good story. Character development is pretty poor. The author has little idea of the geography of the Pacific Ocean. He has the hero flying to Wake Island in1944. It was still in Japanese hands at the time. Dialogue is stilted and naive. It's not worth the short time it takes to read. Neither exciting nor accurate. A Great Start Yes, I managed to read the series out of order but still find the group of novels truly enjoyable. Roger Maxim managed to give us a story about a talented Naval pilot in WW II. His flying experiences, his combat and leadership and even his nurse Rachel. Read all of the books, I highly recommend them.

Enjoyable read More of a short story, not quite a novella. What made it heartwarming for me was that my uncle who passed in WW2 was a Lt.jg aboard the USS Bunker Hill. Sadly he was brought down by antiaircraft fire in November 1944 and did not survive. Another proud Hellcat pilot lost.

A great read Just started reading Roger Maxim's books. Interesting and captivating. Particularly interested in this book as my father was on ground radar guiding Mosquito night fighters during the war. A great read Just started reading Roger Maxim's books. Novel about naval air combat over the Pacific during WWII. Interesting but very short resulting in a quick read. Almost a serial novel.

Excellent Big fan of WWII fiction. Being a former submariner and a private pilot I especially enjoy both story lines. Word
Don Chmielewski –
Best in class Very informative and rewarding looking forward. to additional titles. The men and women who contributed so much to our comfort
Howard Williams –
Informative Short. One error in editing, referring to Captain Ahab as Captain Bligh, unfortunately took a little away from the authoritative voice of the narrator.

Waste of time. Poorly written and very unrealistic . The book is so bad I almost did not finish it. I can,t recommend this book to anyone above the third grade
Dale Barrick –
A very good read. As for the 4 star rating, I don't give anything a 5 star rating unless I'm amazed at the end of the story and I have only done so once and I read a lot. A very good read. Very Good Read As the author pointed out in the preface of this book, other than the names of some of the notable figures in the war against the empire of Japan, all the characters in this story are fictitious. As a student of World War II, I believe that they could be true. I was just a bit annoyed at the obvious typos encountered, but the only mistake I found was a reference to a captain Bleig h who was obsessed with killing Moby Dock. As a student of World War II, I believe that they could be true. I was just a bit annoyed at the obvious typos encountered, but the only mistake I found was a reference to a captain Bleig h who was obsessed with killing Moby Dock. It was in fact Captain Ahab who was obsessed with killing Moby Dock, and Captain Bleigh was the captain who went up against Mr. Fletcher Christian in Mutiny on the Bounty. That fact aside, the story of Aluminum Rain held my interest from the first page to the last.

Weak story Not much their to really get a hold of. Not much character development either. Not much technical detail and then ended strangely.
