Martin Lastrapes' storytelling voice has an ease of tone which draws you comfortably in to the characters. It's clear he loves the vampire genre, and this book reads like a fun ode to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Some nostalgic Easter eggs for Buffy fans while driving the story for characters we get to know well. Looking forward to the conclusion. When I received this book from a giveaway on Goodreads, I opened it up and started to read it right away. I ended up having to leave it reluctantly, and started over, at a later date. I love the way the author weaves in and out, backwards and sideways, to give the story and characters points of view for the different scenarios. As a Buffy fan, I enjoyed all the mentions of the show's episodes, and the allegorical ties between the show and the story. I wish that I had read the first book, I probably will, now, but the book definitely stands alone as a great story. Thank-you Martin Lastrapes, for a Greatread!

Whoo! I can live with that ending. Brutal with all the deaths in this one, but we're keeping it moving. Dracula could be my bestie, since we both like COKE! But, then he just keeps gettin' all psycho killer out of nowhere, so, I don't know if that would work out. Can't wait to read Book Three: The Vampire, the Hunter and Frank! Whoo! I liked this book more than the first of the trilogy. The new characters are more interesting than those that came from the earlier book, mainly Whisper the Witch and Pheanix the vampire.
