First of all, I really appreciated the message of this book--the focus on obedience to God's call taking precedence over our own plans. I liked the way Peter was portrayed not as an unbeliever or one who had walked away from faith, but as a Christian who was fighting against total surrender of his life. I also appreciated the way Calli brought their relationship to the Lord and asked for wisdom. That said, I wasn't sure her choices were always wise. I also appreciated the way Calli brought their relationship to the Lord and asked for wisdom. That said, I wasn't sure her choices were always wise. She had what seemed to be clear direction from the Lord on allowing herself to spend time with Peter, but letting her emotions become so fully invested again when he'd showed no signs of changing on their major point of contention just didn't strike me as a good idea. I did like Peter's stance on making things better for others, even if some of his motivations were flawed at times. (view spoiler)[Although Dina confused me a little, and I wasn't quite sure what to think of her by the end. (hide spoiler)] There was quite a bit of focus on physical attributes in the romance, although it didn't cross the line into inappropriate. The immediate, overwhelming attraction made sense because of their history, but I would still have liked a bit more focus on character than looks. Also, there were some editing issues which I didn't expect, particularly when it came to putting dialogue from multiple people into the same paragraph, which made it difficult to sort out at times. Content--kissing; a man is attacked and hit on the head; a woman comes into the room where a man is sleeping without his knowledge; a woman makes advances toward a man but is rejected; mentions of drinking

A great story It's a great missionary based story...with lots of shenanigans and mishaps and mayhem. whether or not the characters then their lives to Christ is not set until the end. Enjoyable I don’t usually enjoy novellas because I like to see the characters fleshed out, and I like to see the plot resolution be something that’s believable (even though I know it’s fiction). Read the book! It shows you how love can help to overcome pain.

I adore Warren and this novella is a prime example of why. She has such a natural way of incorporating Christian elements into her novels. This particular novella includes a missionary and the man who left her behind. It's romantic, edifying, entertaining, and set in a foreign country. What's not to love? Great little novella that will inspire you to lead the life God is calling you to. I love the characters, how on fire Calli is for the Lord, and how she doesn't hold back the truth to spare feelings, but boldly proclaims what she knows to be true. Very Preachy I am a religious person by nature. I read light romances for enjoyment. Usually this author has more story. This is a sweet novella.
