The heart-stirring ordeals of Christmastime are over. Kyon and Yuki are more conscious of each other than ever, but even now, there's a strange distance between them. After the end of volume 7 I was confused when I started reading volume 8. They even have a silent color image of when Yuki finally admits her feelings to Kyon in the last volume but then it is business as usual as the two of them return to the Christmas party leaving what happened to our imaginations. Don't worry though because the actual scene comes up later in the volume and is hinted throughout the volume. This has definitely been one of my favorite romance stories as these hopelessly shy and worried kids slowly take steps to get closer to one another. Hopefully being a spin off of the original Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya story this doesn't end up with some sort of reality altering event that wipes all this lovey dovey stuff away. My fave part is defiantly after Ryoko tries to trade Kyon's present to Yuki and when she doesn't end up opening it to reveal a reindeer head mask. What followed are a variety of scenes of a now creepy Ryoko doing various activities wearing the mask like a anthropomorphic anomaly in the story. :)

The gang goes to a temple for New Years' getting their fortunes. Now that Kyon and Nagato are together, it honestly feels a little slower than earlier volumes, with very minor events leading to reactions that make the relationship a little less easy. Will try another volume and see if the pace changes. The gang goes to a temple for New Years' getting their fortunes. Oh man what a volume! Kyon and Yuki's relationship is flowering into something innocent and awkward, and by the gods does it feel natural. This volume as has lots of love, laughter, and excitement bound up in its pages! I can't wait to see what happens next! Oh man what a volume!
