I enjoyed the mystery a lot. I had my suspicions about who the killer was and while I wasn't positive, for me the clues kept leading me to the right person as my lead suspect. It was a little slow getting started and I had some trouble focusing. Although I was reading this book while I had a migraine, so that might have played a small part in my lack of focus. But, maybe about 10% or so in, it hooked me. I didn't want to put it down. I kept putting off going to bed because I didn't want to stop reading. I liked Fielding and Chandler. She was strong and smart and is the type of character you want to succeed and find happiness. He was a little rough around the edges but he grew on me. I was rooting for them for most of the story. Fielding is an odd name, and it kept throwing me off. I kept forgetting it was her name because it isn't a common girl’s name, and I didn't feel like it fit her. (Just my opinion, but I bugged me.) I enjoyed this book a lot and would recommend it to anyone who liked a mystery. I would love to read more by A.J. Chase.

Awaken The Devil was a romantic suspense about and women and a man who did not want to find love, but found it in each other and fought it each step of the way. Fielding French is a dancer/kinda reporter whose uncle asks her for a favor which puts her at an audition of a very well known Broadway star's new show. Chandler Bentley is a very well known Broadway star who doesn't like many people because of being scorned in the past. Chandler Bentley is a very well known Broadway star who doesn't like many people because of being scorned in the past. But when Fielding and Chandler are around each other their passion for each other is just too much for either of them to handle, and someone will get hurt because of it. The story was a little slow at first and some points throughout, but the suspense of who did was great. I had my suspicions about who the killer was about half way through but I didn't know the why and that was shocking, it was not what I expected. The tension between Fielding and Chandler was quite interesting to read, and I liked how the author switched between the two so we knew what both were feeling and thinking. AJ Chase did a great job developing the characters, making some likable and others not so much and sometimes I liked and disliked a character at the same time. I would recommend this book and I would read more by this author.

I really liked Fielding French the main character in this book. The author does a good job of developing the characters in this book. Fielding was not only beautiful, but she was smart and humble. The book was suspenseful at times, which made me not want to put it down. The only critique I have of this book is that the ending felt rushed. I wanted more of the two main characters at the end or even an "Epilogue". Overall it's a good read and worth the purchase. I really liked Fielding French the main character in this book.
