While a bit of a skeptic myself, I inexplicably found myself drawn to this book one night only to read within the introduction that "this book had found its way into your hands for a reason"... As I kept reading, the connections kept adding up from Laura Lynne growing up in the same town as myself, her two first loves names being that of my brothers (characteristics eerily similar as well!) to the icing on the cake: learning I had attended the same high school as the author- as if growing up in the same town wasn't weird enough!! This book brought tears to my eyes and opened my heart as I read about our loved ones leaving the physical world but their spirits remaining with us: guiding us, leading us, showing us the way to fulfill our path that the universe has spread out for us. After reading this book, I feel comfort knowing that love is never lost. Love only grows. While I miss him beyond words can describe, I look forward to connecting with my Pop Pop through signs he sends me from beyond and cherish the knowledge that I will see him again someday.

This is one of those books that marks a before-I-read-it and after, in my life. It's infused with unfathomable beauty that moved me to tears on more than one occasion. I'm forever grateful for the silent pull I felt to order it as soon as it was published (which I generally never do, as I like to read at least a few reviews before committing, haha). Psychic medium Laura Lynne Jackson shares her own life experiences, as well as stories about her ability to communicate with the deceased, in this touching memoir. Initially skeptical of her own abilities, she even participated in scientific studies to help better understand herself and her abilities. Ever since my mom died 1.5 years ago, I've been more interested in spirits and mediums, so after hearing about this book from a friend (thank you, Vivian!), I thought I'd give it a try. I'm still not sure whether or not I believe in psychics and mediums, but I don't not believe, and my mind is open to the possibilities. Audiobook

I guess I was destined to read this book. I bought as I passed my usual bookshop (Bertrand) but I had no intentions of buying anything that day... (I had just bought a few books two or three days before). So, I see this book which had probably just been published in Portugal, and I just had to bring it with me! When I sat in the car I opened it and read the dedication in the beginning, and I found out one of the reasons why I had to get it: Laura dedicates it to her Mother in a very touching way, I guess I was destined to read this book. And That is exactly how I feel about me Mother, who passed away less than one month ago... It was a bit like a wink of Destiny, to see those words that described the way I felt... Then, I read the book in around two days... Story after story that Laura shares touched me particularly... until, at the very end, when she includes nine pages of thankful words the name "Delia" is another wink at me (Dad' name was Délio). Loved the easy and genuine way in which Laura shares her life and her experience, the very humane way in which she describes the fear of assuming her role publicly and the courageous way in which she conquered her place. Loved it! Maria Carmo, Lisbon 20 June 2016.

I already have had various experiences to ensure me that there is life beyond what we experience on Earth and I 100% believe there are individuals with very special gifts, such as Laura Lynne Jackson. This book was just what my heart needed to remind me that death is just a transformation and our loved ones are closer then we even realize. The experiences she shared were so beautiful and touching. This book brought some peace to my broken heart.

I have to admit, I was impatient with the first third of this book. The author spends a lot of time convincing you that she has a supernatural ability and then takes you through pages and pages about her apprehension regarding her psychic abilities as if the book were her adolescent journal. I figured that anyone who picks up this book wouldn't need 9 chapters of convincing that the universe has many layers of existence and knowing. I did keep going and I am so glad I did! I realized in the end that the stories she told in the early part were necessary to tell a complete story. She paints a beautiful and holistic picture of how the universe connects us all with love and intention. I already believed these things but I believe them all the more so now and I loved her approach and insight. I also loved her tips for listening to the signs that we get from the other side. I believe I've already experienced this in small ways just since using her approaches to being open to it. I learned about Jackson on a new podcast, The Cosmos In You, and I liked her approachability towards spirituality. I wish more people saw the world this way. We would all be so much better for it!

The Light Between Us: Lessons from Heaven That Teach Us to Live Better in the Here and Now tells the story of Laura Lynne Jackson who is a certified psychic medium who has ability to converse with souls from the other side. She uses this gift to help people accept loss. I am somewhat skeptical of individuals claiming to be mediums but this book cut through my skepticism. In her book, she discussed scientific tests that she had to pass to become certified as a medium. The stories that she shared spoke to me and provided some guidance and comfort that I needed. She discussed how bad things that happen to us can lead to the growth of our soul in a way that made sense to me. She says that heaven is not "far off" and that our loved ones can see what we do from heaven and that they stay interested and involved in our lives. I am a mental health therapist of 27 years who usually sticks to the traditional ways to handle grief with my consumers. However, I believe this book could be very comforting in my grief work with others. I highly recommend this book. I read it in a couple of hours and it was fascinating. One interesting personal fact that I want to share is that I downloaded this book a couple of days before the birthday of one of my deceased family members and ended up bedridden with an illness on her birthday which led to me reading this book as a way to celebrate her birthday since I was to sick to do any of the original things I had planned to honor her birthday. It was perfect timing and just what I needed on that particular day. I got this book from Net Galley as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I definitely recommend this book. In fact, this is one of those books that I feel I can not adequately describe in words how awesome I think this book is.

What a wonderfully uplifting book! I couldn't put it down. I am a believer in life after death, but my husband is not so sure. As I was telling him some of Ms. Jackson's stories he was so touched that he stated he would like to read it. Her words made me feel so good and so connected. I think I'd read it again. Emotionally Charged Stories Of Hereafter Connections This is a weird one because I have no idea how this book fell into my lap. I’m not super surprised because I buy and put a hold on so many books that sometimes I’m forced to read them quickly before I have to return them when they come my way. I may have heard it recommended somewhere or it was on a list of sorts. Regardless, I had no idea really what I was reading when I started. This book is the ‘true story’ of a psychic who learns of her powers and the ability to tap into messages left from people who have passed on. They connect to her and tell her to tell their loved ones, she is near to, about personal stuff and usually they are messages of regret and love. What’s usually explained as cold reading, in skeptic circles, her method here explained how she would reveal very personal details that no one would know or understand except the person she was “reading” for. For example, one man she mentioned a belt and said his father was sorry about the belt and he had no idea how special it was. The man later revealed that indeed when he was younger he made a leather belt for his dad But his dad hit him with it when he got upset at him thinking it was some mindless hobby the boy was working on not knowing it was a special gift the boy was working on for him. This episode hurt the man deeply and affected him all his life. He never told anyone about it but here the author was telling him now how his father now realizes this and how sorry he was that it happened. I find that hard to believe that she could cold read that personal episode. Of course there’s no way to verify these stories. But the feeling they give is just as unique and special to read and ultimately makes it worth it. What shocked me is how moving and emotional these stories were. Even if you don’t believe them you can’t deny how emotional these accounts are and told with such a sensitivity that it really makes you believe. I consider myself a believer in a lot of things and some of the stuff here was a stretch but I thoroughly enjoyed this journey and it helped me think about things in a new light which is what I’m always excited about. This meshing Of new ideas and experiences is what helps me grow but seriously I teared up at some of these stories. If they’re real and this author is the real deal then we have ZERO to be afraid of when we pass on. Everyone in her readings speaks of so much love and light and how we need to focus on nurturing our soul and growing here on Earth with the purpose of living a life full of unconditional love for everyone and everything. I always believe in this mission and so I can say I stand by the values and message of this work. Bravo.

Author Laura Lynne Jackson is just like the rest of us. She's a teacher, a wife, a mother. However, she is also a medium. Her ability to see and speak with persons who have crossed over allows her insight into some of our most troubling questions on this side, especially "What happens when we die?". I have always been interested in mediums who have a genuine gift (not charlatans preying on the gullible), and Laura is one of these individuals who has a genuine gift and shares what she has found. It sounds silly, but I think this book has changed my life. Laura Lynn’s writing is like taking to a friend, but the subject matter is just so precious that giving it five stars seems trivial. I have always felt that it would be silly to completely write off the possibility of “the other side” but Laura Lynn just gives me those concrete examples that are too big to ignore. And I believe her. I can not wait to read her next book, I am buying it tonight!

I tend to be a skeptic, not that I don't believe there are people who can intuit things, because I have seen it myself in various countries I've lived in. I can't imagine losing my child, losing loved ones is so hard but something about losing a child is a crack in the universe in my eyes. I have heard the same things before, about how the dead talk to you, take it or leave it as you will. Can we believe in energy, gut instincts... sure. Walk into any room where the tension is thick, or any charged event (be it good vibes or bad) and convince me you can't pick up on others emotional state or 'energy' if you will. There will always be unexplained things, and on the other hand I am all for Science, but none of us has all the answers. There wasn't anything new though, a lot of the things she's mentioned others psychics have as well not to take away from her shared story but for others that have read similar accounts, it may be familiar. What an interesting teacher to have- whether someone is psychic or just has a gift for empathy and picking up on other's emotions, how much would it benefit us all to have such a person in our lives? This was a lovely read, sad but inspiring. I tend to keep an open mind and have tried to keep a take it or leave it approach when reading anything in this vein.

I didn't believe in connections to the Other Side for a long time, and recently I have realized that the connections are there every day. I see signs in places that I didn't know to look. This book recognizes that these connections exist always, and it is both comforting and relieving to know that our Spirit Guides are there with us. Inspiring and uplifting for me. Gives me hope in easing my fears of death a little. Reading about certain people’s readings and the messages of love and forgiveness really had an affect on me. Going into reading this book I was skeptical, I don’t often read books/memoirs from psychic mediums and I won’t read just any one. But I was really touched and impressed by this woman and her stories and her gifts. I loved reading about her experiences here and I’m honestly surprised that I have never heard of her until coming across this book. I’m so glad I read this book and I will most likely keep coming back to it. I also love how Laura has parts in this book that shows scientific tests and results to show that what she does is legit and that it is also very likely that all of us have this capability/switch in our brains to enter the altered state. I feel like Laura is very humble and she does not come across as superior or egotistical; she shows her humility and genuine emotion in what she’s gone through with come to accept her gift and what it’s been like to experience. The way I came across this book and the strangeness of never having heard of Laura before and the fact that I ended up stumbling onto it online and getting it there when my eyes failed to notice it when I was just in a bookstore that had it right in front of me not long before is very interesting to think about haha.

Life is not happening TO us. It is happening FOR us.
