Yes, it is odd that I started the series with this book but I Ioved it. Anxious for more. Sawyer's story gave me so much as a reader. I love slightly mad and misunderstood heroes. The book is short but feels whole and it is well developed. Excellent work. 5 Stars from me. Complimentary copy provided by the author in exchange for my honest review. Fuck a Duck. This novella fucked me right up, honestly twisted me around like a pretzel. I swear I could not focus reading anything else for like 48 hours after I finished. Companion novella to the butcher boys series and should be read in sequence. To be read in order, Devil you own and then Devil on your back. Sawyer is a complex character this books gives you insight into what makes Sawyer, Sawyer and if you have read previous books it shines a completely different light on him. So you may have had a dislike of him from the previous book but this will completely flip those thoughts around. Sawyer basically has the devil as a father and is tormented by the voices in his head waging war between his conscience and himself he is looked upon as crazy. Sawyers back story is not for the faint hearted he's seen his fare share of blood and loss of life including his own mother at the hands of his father. This book leaves you wanting more, more of Sawyer more of the suspense and drama. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series http://www.bbbf-sizzlereads-bestbookb...

I started this book with trepidition, after finishing Devil on Your Back, the last person I wanted to read about was Sawyer.... & BAM Max hits us with Sawyer. I'm so glad I read this though, once I started I couldn't stop. Sawyer was a character I found I didn't care much for, without going into details & ruining it for you, I'll just say he wasn't a character you were made to love... But having just finished reading how Sawyer became what he is, the insight of how he lost himself, then the turn I started this book with trepidition, after finishing Devil on Your Back, the last person I wanted to read about was Sawyer.... & BAM Max hits us with Sawyer. I NEED MORE SAWYER!! Seriously Max has outdone herself, my only wish?? I now need more Sawyer! I NEED to know how he fares, if he's able to escape the hell inside himself. Please don't stop Max, I'm in LOVE with your dark writing style.

What a suspenseful short, how can you get so much into such a short read. We know that Sawyer is a crazy guy, you don't want to mess with him, and then throw another psycho. in the mix, anything could happen. And it did. And then Ms. Henry left us with a cliffhanger......not nice......grrr. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Max Henry's continuation of the MC series is beyond phenomenal! She knows how to spin a tale and hold your interest until the very end! There was nothing wrong with the writing I just didn't like the story. I found the whole story depressing. I know it was to introduce us to Sawyer and therefore it didn't matter about the other characters but i found it an emotionless read where I didn't take to any of the characters. And you lovely people now how I feel about short stories that I really don't like them. But I was really intrigued to read Sawyer book to learn more about him and too find out way he is so mess up in the head. I now a lot of readers didn't like Sawyer, but I was really curious about him when we first were introduce to him in Devil on Your Back. And I wanted to know why he become so cold hearted and crazy. And ohh my I finally did find out on why he is so cold hearted and crazy after reading Devil May Care. I felt just so bad and awful for him when I learn more about Sawyer background and his life living with his sick demented father Carlos. Sawyer lived a horrible life with his father and he has a terrible memory about his mom. But I don't want to say what his memories are because that will be very spoiler, but just know I don't blame him for being so psychotic. Especially what his dear old daddy put him through. Now I don't want to go into any details about Devil May Care but it starts off where Sawyer was trade and taken by his evil father Carlos in Devil on Your Back. His father also kidnapped a young girl name Dana which Sawyer wanted to claim her when he first lays eyes on her. Dana was a very strong fighter and she would have none of that but the more Sawyer learn more about Dana and why his father want to use both of the for. The more Sawyer changed and become very protective over Dana and he never felt anything like what he feels for Dana with anybody else not even with Ramona. And Dana utterly and completely changed him and made him see what he really was turning into. And here is where I am going to leave it of at. I don't want too spoil anybody. But I am really loving and enjoying The Butcher Boys series in each book it's getting more dark and intense that I absolutely love and enjoy reading these amazing series. I so can't wait to read Devil in the Detail next which is Ty and Ramona book which I am really curious about Ty as well!

Dana is a survivor with everything that Sawyers Dad has put her through and taken from her. She still keeps fighting to survive to find a way out. I was on an emotional roller coster ride reading this one. Going from hating Sawyer, to understanding him, to crying for him. Then Dana I love her she is strong stands up to Sawyer keeps him on his toes. I just cannot say too much because I don't want to give anything away but I'm so ready for the next book because this one was a cliffy and I need the rest of the story. Great addition to the series Max Henry. Here are a few of my favorites: How many times has it been me who stood impassive throughout the onslaught, letting the broken person before me—the person I broke—run their course … and then just walked away from it all? I’m just like him. I’m as fucking heartless as my father. “Sometimes you need to break apart in order to put yourself back together stronger.” “You’ve changed me, baby, and I’ll always love you for that.”

I simply devoured Butcher Boys 1 & 2 and I admit I was a little apprehensive to pick up this book, perhaps because it was a Novella made me do it as I really hated Sawyer as a character especially from Book 2 and if you have read that you know what I am talking about. I want him to find love, to find forgiveness in his past love, what about Ramona, to find some relationship with his son, I have so much I want for Sawyer, he does have some good in him but growing up with his dad who is a total psychotic bastard. Fair warning too - the ending will have you going argh where is the next instalment. Again, I love these Butcher Boys!

Well to say I hated Sawyer in the previous book would be an understatement and anyone who read it would know that was just a given. I am actually glad I read this one, wow he is probably the deepest character so far and while this was a short story it really shed a lot of light on him. This is the third book I've read in the series and I know it's not a freakin' rainbow and unicorn series but I didn't see an event coming. This is a suspenseful book that gives us some background to Sawyer and why he is the way he is. It shows us how his father is a manipulative prick who wants everything he wants no matter the consequences.
