Each chapter does give you one of 4 people's views of events but it works. A portion of the book is by Alice a main character who researches elephants. "elephants you say." Yes, but I promise if you are a mother this book is for you. It flashes back some but once you are at about Chapter 3 you can't put it down. And for heavens sake hold on for the ending. I really liked it. Really. It is a TRUE mystery you will never see coming. Each chapter does give you one of 4 people's views of events but it works. Lots of twists. Very surprising ending, brought tears to my eyes. I always have loved elephants and still learned more about them in this book.

Slow to start, a whole lot of elephant facts, which started to become redundant, I mean great, sweet facts that tie the story up.. but I think more story less elephant research facts?.. The story did end Great!! wait for it!...........

This author came highly recommended to me, which may partly explain why I am so utterly disappointed. In this novel, Jenna, a thirteen-year-old girl who talks and acts like an adult, hires Serenity, a psychic, and Virgil, a private detective, to search for Alice, her mother who has been missing for ten years. Alice is a scientist specializing in the study of elephant grief, so the reader gets dozens of examples of this, many more than I cared to read. Other details of the story are also repeated ad nauseam. I felt frustrated with this novel a tenth of the way through, but I almost always finish reading what I start. In the last five percent of the novel, the reader learns that nothing is as it appeared in the first 95%. Some readers may regard this as a “twist ending.” I found it to be reader manipulation and rip off. I may give Picoult another chance, but not really soon.

I love Jodi Picoult's writing style yet I didn't like the ending. I feel like the puzzle has been put together and the image is out of focus because I dont have my glasses. Would I recommend the book? Absolutely. My experience is just that, my experience. She is still a wonderful writer. I love Jodi Picoult's writing style yet I didn't like the ending. Leaving Time is an extraordinary story with good developed characters. Although I understand the author is desperately making a point about the extermination of elephants across the world, the plethora of tragic stories about elephants’ deaths upset me. There were so many accounts of elephants dying in so many different ways, I think I may have become desensitized to the numerous tragedies. I gave this novel five stars, because the story is unusual and well written. I did not want my own emotion Leaving Time is an extraordinary story with good developed characters. This is one of the best books I have read in a long time! The author made the characters believable and certainly researched about elephants. The plot twist was unpredictable and literally made me read the story again with the new information. I will certainly be looking for more books by this author.

Oh my goodness, I must have passed this one on to at least three people. The plight of the elephants might not sound intriguing, but you have never had it woven into a story of the loss of a mother quite like this. Pick it up, you won't be sorry, it will move you. Loved this story - bittersweet and beautiful!!! Ending hard to take but authors choice - loved details and mystery along the way - loved topics of elephants, spirit world and spirit connectors and the mental health issues discussed. Another great read from Piccola!

I loved this book. I had the audible version and finished it in 3 days. I learned so much about elephant grief. Because of this book I went to the Elephant Sanctuary website to donate. I thought the ending was clever and not expected.

This is a mystery, which gives you details about the life of elephants, with a surprise ending.I finished it, but it took some time to get through it. I picked it up and put it down. Rinsed and repeated several times.

I so loved this book! I can’t get into why because it would be a spoiler, but I actually got up extra early just so I could get to read a chapter or two before work. Beautifully written and utterly absorbing

Unlike most of Jodi Picoult’s novels, this one was very hard to get into. The ending though I will say is the only thing that saved this book in my opinion. I did not see that coming!

I couldn't find the book itself. It seems others have encountered the same issue, instead reviewing this entry, so my rating will be for the actual book. I couldn't find the book itself. Great work, Jodi Picoult! Character development, storyline creativity, keeping me engaged from beginning to end. What is it about elephants? I'm drawn to their personalities and suffering. I really appreciate that the author incorporated extensive elephant research and plight of the species into a moving and unpredictable storyline. Although I would like to say that most of my reading material is for educational purposes, alas, I lean heavily on escapism and entertainment!
