I found it highly motivational and if you haven't seen it, I urge you to do so. I must be honest, I didn't so much pick this book for smoothie recipes, my blender is on the fritz and I'm very much a "blend what's in the fridge" type of gal anyway. I wanted something that would motivate me to get my (slightly too big) rear in gear and Carr always manages to do so. Whenever I pick up a vegan/vegetarian book I judge it based on a few factors: - can I buy the ingredients in my local supermarket and not have to sell a kidney to afford them - do I need special equipment or utensils that will clutter my kitchen space - is it relatively low fat/ decent in calories (vegetarian does NOT equal slim) - are the recipes tasty and easy to make All that is required for smoothies is a good blender, you can use fruit and vegetables from your local shop, most consist of fruit and vegetables only and are super easy to make. I especially found the homemade non dairy milk ( I refuse to call it nut milk!) section interesting and I can't wait to try them out. On the whole, there's nothing especially revolutionary about this book but it provides a good boost to the ol' motivation, it can inspire you to think outside the box when on your weekly shopping trip and try new ingredients or food combinations.

    9-15-15 Overall Crazy Sexy Juice is a beautiful book with gorgeous photos and a nice layout. However, the juices and smoothies themselves are not terribly new if you have been around the vegan or healthy food community for very long. The juices especially are quite common, though there were a few gems in there (such as Crimson Dawn). Unfortunately Carr relies heavily on cucumber as a base in her juices, which I personally cannot drink. This is easily remedied but I do wish she had more variety in 9-15-15 Overall Crazy Sexy Juice is a beautiful book with gorgeous photos and a nice layout. Pretty much everything she says is available in her early books (or films, or, indeed, ANY book about juicing) and this makes me suspect that this volume was published with less than pure motives. The photos are pretty, and if you know nothing about anything, I guess maybe you'd get something out of this. Otherwise, give this one a miss. Thanks A pity. There's a lot of great information in the first half of the book about nutrients, how our bodies process things, what fruits and veggies give you what, and so on. That alone made it worth it to me. Maybe you can find this information on her website, but I like having it all in one place. The recipes were good for ideas on what to add to my current smoothie rotation, although I probably won't follow them exactl I checked this out from my library and have already added it to my "wish list" to buy.     A wonderful and educational resource for living a healthier lifestyle! Chockful of easy-to-follow recipes (and beautiful, illustrative photos) for juicing your way to better health! The recipes are divided into helpful categories, such as : Superfoods, Immunity Boosters, Energizers, etc. Plus, this book is filled with great information about in what ways various ingredients provide healthful benefits. I found the section on various nut and seed "milks" that the author included to be a great bonus A wonderful and educational resource for living a healthier lifestyle! Chockful of easy-to-follow recipes (and beautiful, illustrative photos) for juicing your way to better health! The recipes are divided into helpful categories, such as : Superfoods, Immunity Boosters, Energizers, etc. Plus, this book is filled with great information about in what ways various ingredients provide healthful benefits. I found the section on various nut and seed "milks" that the author included to be a great bonus. My only criticism is the frequency of cucumbers as a recommended ingredient (a particular food I have a strong dislike for), without Ms. Carr suggesting another ingredient that could be effectively substituted for it. (The author does include recommendations of substitutions for other ingredients that are not frequently cited in the various recipes included in this, otherwise, fantastic book.

Although I agree that much of what's in this book can be found elsewhere, I really like the way she pulls the information together. Her approach to juicing and her creativity with recipes is inspiring and I find myself being willing to put up with the "clean up" to try out some of her recipes. I've also started making nut milks, which is a whole other world of plant-based liquids, and found a really co I'm a big fan of juicing, and I really admire Kris and how she's handled her journey with cancer. Although I agree that much of what's in this book can be found elsewhere, I really like the way she pulls the information together. I've also started making nut milks, which is a whole other world of plant-based liquids, and found a really cool (low-cost) way to strain all the grit out of my milks, using a piece of swiss voile, which I definitely prefer. Overall, this is a book worth reading, and if you even get one recipe out of this that you enjoy, then you're one step closer to being healthier!

    This is a great book filled with good information. I have tired juicing and smoothies before. My receipts I’ve gotten off the Internet were ok or they were gross. But after reading this book and trying some of the receipts. They taste way better than what I have originally done in the past. I highly recommend this book. It also gave me information I wasn’t aware of when it came to juicing veggies that are a bit hard on my stomach. This is a great beginner book.

    These juices are versatile and easy! Miss Carr also includes a few recipes. My kids LOVE the herbed lentil recipe. It can be altered to become a welcome addition to salads, soups, and taco filling as well. Miss Carr's books are consistently hilarious, easy to navigate, and extremely informative. In part two of the book, the next section is a listing “Spotlight” on greens and then fruits/vegetables with tips on how to select them, how to store them, their top nutrients and their individual health benefits. She includes “Superfood Boosts” and substitutions to make these juices/blends as nutritional as possible. A FAQ section is next where she dispels myths of juicing and tackles areas of information that many people want to know. What about all of that pulp from juicing, isn’t it a waste? Not in her house, she has recipes for making crackers, veggie burgers and other dishes so nothing goes to waste. Straight into the juice section she starts off with cleanser recipes with a “Mellow Green” juice then onto a “Classic Green Lemonade” etc. Healers are up next with recipe names such as “Root Power”, “Immune Boost”, “Garden-in-a-glass” and more. The next section is Boosters for the time of day when an energy boost is needed. Our skin and healthy glow can’t be left out, she adds Beautifier recipes to make sure we slow down the aging process and use ingredients to deter bloating while keeping hydrated. The smoothie section is equally as generous and detailed with pH warriors and green smoothie recipes. In section 9 she details nut and seed milks. In part three of the book she outlines a three-day cleanse and gives recipes, snack options, and grocery lists to help each step of the way. The photographs throughout the book are not only eye-catching, but are artistic and detailed. You feel like you can reach into the book and lift a fruit or a glass of juice right off the page. They are inspiring and beautifully crafted. Kris Carr and her team have created a book full of health and full of vitality that would not collect dust on our bookshelf. This beautiful volume would find its pages with weathered corners as it would be used again and again. That is a testament of its worth, how delighted a reader utilizes these recipes to regain optimal health and that effervescent smile that comes from drinking these juices.     What a neat book! This is my first Kris Carr cookbook to read and I was impressed. There is beautiful photography throughout the whole book with easy to follow instructions and explanations on each recipe. She refers you to the page number in her book where an ingredient's recipe can be found, along with more information. I am not much of a juicer and lean towards nut milk and smoothies, but found all the recipes to look appealing. If a recipe contained an uncommon ingredient, Kris told you wher What a neat book! This is my first Kris Carr cookbook to read and I was impressed. There is beautiful photography throughout the whole book with easy to follow instructions and explanations on each recipe. She refers you to the page number in her book where an ingredient's recipe can be found, along with more information.     This is a very good book about healthful living. It is educational and contains great information on juicers, blenders and ingredients. There are great juices and smoothies recipes.
