Despite growing up with the funny pages, I was unfamiliar with Big Nate until I was an adult. My local newspaper didn’t carry that strip; it wasn’t until I read it in another paper that I had even heard of it. It’s become a big deal in recent years; at the library, I shelve books based on it all the time. After reading this, it’s not hard to see why; it’s a fun one. Fans of the daily funnies will find plenty to enjoy here.

Awesome Book! This comic collection was super funny! It's cool because Nate and all the other characters look a little different. It's also before Teddy. Anyway, someone said that this book was inappropriate and had the word "sex" in it. That's not true. They just wanted to send you on a wild goose chase. Again, I think this was really really funny! Big Nate for life!

The fifth graders LOVE these and obsess over them constantly so I thought I better give it a try. I was less than impressed. In fact, that is a very generous two stars. I would've given it one if not for how much the kiddos love it. I can see why the kids like it because, basically, Nate is a jerk. He makes fun of everyone calling them fat and ugly and drawing cruel comics about them. I didn't find it amusing it all. I would never remove a book from my class library based on my personal feelings, but I will not be buying anymore, so once these suckers wear out (or get stolen because that's happened to about 4 of them- kids are the worst) that's it for Big Nate. I thought I would hate "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and ended up loving them. I was hoping that would be the case with Big Nate, but I pretty much hated this book and didn't find any of it funny.

I kept seeing these books everywhere, so I decided to give it a try. This is a funny collection of Big Nate comic strips. I had never read Big Nate comics before reading this collection. The stories were fun. Nate goes through life as an ordinary kid who loves to draw. He reminded me a lot of the Diary of a Wimpy kid series because he has some of the same observations about school and life as Greg in that series. I thought it was much more recent than that because the stories seemed very current. It would be a great read for kids today because the stories were so funny and relatable.

I was actually resistant to reading this. It just looked too juvenile. And, you know, it is. But sometimes you need a palate cleaner, so i borrowed it from Hoopla. And i really enjoyed it! I plan to read the other compilations.

I think Lincoln Peirce is incredibly creative and Big Nate is hugely entertaining. Although this is a compilation of his early work, it's pretty good stuff.

My first Big Nate book; another graphic novel series I've been aware of, but never took the opportunity to read. Nate is obnoxious and very funny. The snarky humor seems best for ages 10 and up, as Nate is pretty much rude and mean to everyone---his dad, his sister, his teacher, even his best friend. Not for all tastes, but I got a lot of laughs out of this one.
