Better This is the third book in this series and I found it to be the best one so far. I think the next book will be okay also. I don't find the books to be scary at all, but getting a bit more interesting. Better This is the third book in this series and I found it to be the best one so far. I admit it! I was hooked from the blurb, which put the pressure on author Jackson Dean Chase to live up to the hype. Can he do it? Realtors won’t touch it, so there it sits; empty and alone until a new realtor in town gets it dumped in her lap. Deb is a sixteen year old girl and her mom went up to Hex House to get a feel for the place, but she never came home. Determined to find her mother, in spite of the tales of terror regarding the house, Deb enters and what she discovers could turn even a good realtor off from taking a listing. Is Hex House evil or is it “just an empty house” with a sad story behind it? Poor Deb, rule #1, do NOT go into a hexed house… Do I think Jackson Dean Chase lived up to his hype? (Shivers) Yes, definitely, I even thought there could have been more, more, more! This short tale is more fuel for "scary story night" with friends. Looking for a new home? Look first, read later, unless you like to live life on the edge! Mr. Chase can tell a tale, and make it stick in your mind, another great YA thriller for moments when you have little time and nerves of steel! This is another great book by Jackson Dean Chase. It’s a short story, but packed full of scary goodness. It’s creepy as all hell. I do wish there had been a little bit more backstory on the house, but that’s just how I am. I always want to know everyone’s story. My only other “complaint” would be that I wish it had been a tiny bit longer, but again, that’s just me. The Haunting of Hex House was very to the point with what was going on. There is no convoluted relationships or anything like that t This is another great book by Jackson Dean Chase. It’s a short story, but packed full of scary goodness. It’s creepy as all hell. There is no convoluted relationships or anything like that to keep up with. It’s predictable to a degree, but not horribly so, and while predictable, the climax isn’t quite what you expect it to be. I recommend this to anyone with a few minutes to kill looking for a short haunted house thrill.

Reviewed on Lili Lost in a Book Deb and her mom are new in town. Mom is a realtor and she is selling a house, one which she doesn't know is haunted. Extremely haunted. So when her mother goes missing when visiting the house, Deb decides to go looking for her. Stupid, but also understandable. I really liked the writing in this short story and the way it described the house, almost as if it were alive. It was very interesting and way creepy! The imagery was just... *shudders* It was great! And the ending was f*cking brutal! It was definitely a “muahaha!” moment and I totally enjoyed that, lol.

Twisted short tale! Bloody, dark, and a mansion haunted with a spirit of insatiable hunger. Take a few minutes out of your day and remember why you should fear creepy, abandoned houses.

It was ok It was nice to read a story geographically based on the area in which I currently live. The story itself was OK. It seemed to jump a bit from place to place and the ending was.....unsettling...... Unfinished..... lacking? The majority of the book was teasers for some of the author's other books. She sides with the money signs and goes to the house, even though those little hairs on the back of her neck are tingling. When she does not return home, her daughter knows something is not right and demands to know from the real estate office what is going on. With no real answer she herself travels to the house and finds the evidence that not all is right in the Hex House. I for one believe that houses gain a personality, has do cars. I am not saying Christine type personalities, but I once had a car that wouldn't start for my mother no matter what, but the minute I got in she would start right up. Serves my mom right for calling it a piece of junk. I think houses are the same way, and when there is pain and horrendous events that happen in a house, it holds some of that with it. I know my house is probably bitchy about the amount of shit that we have in it, but seriously it is a big house, but that does explain why so many socks go missing, she is stealing them... I have a family member that believes in Ghosts, and has seen them, and he must walk through a house multiple times before he will think about buying or renting a place. There have been a couple of times that he refused to even enter a house for the feeling he got.

Halloween will be here soon! Is there that one house in your neighborhood that sends chills down your spine? This is a short story about that house. It grabs you with the first paragraph. Never have I read a story that gets you almost the instant you start to read it. The history of this house is really creepy. I wouldn't go in for anything. But I did love reading about it. Scared me to death! I'm glad it was daylight when I read it. And as a Chase trademark the ending blew my mind. You will nev Halloween will be here soon! Ann Gordon, single mother, and real estate agent, is excited to be assigned the sale of Hex House. What consequences await; however, she could not have predicted. Where was her breaking point? The stress of motherhood, coping with the loss of a loved one, and a boss that doesn't take denial easily, did that cause a break in Ann’s psyche, or is it Hex House with its need to live? An enjoyable, short, psychological thriller. Ann Gordon, single mother, and real estate agent, is excited to be assigned the sale of Hex House. I have only one complaint about 'Hex House'- I wish it was longer! After reading the description of the house, and how it changed, I wanted to read more! The twist at the end is really cool, and I think it sets up the possibility for a great full length novel. Well, I can hope! I was reminded of the 1999 remake, 'House on Haunted Hill', with a dash of Richard Matheson's 'Hell House'. Altogether, an enjoyable read that left me wanting more! The horror story was short and fast-paced, but effective. Jackson Dean Chase did not waste any time to create the proper atmosphere. It's one of those stories that are perfect for Halloween.
