This thrill-ride will leave you breathless and begging for more! This volume contains the first four Darkness series books; Into the Darkness, Braving the Elements, On a Razor's Edge and Demons. Into the Darkness (Book 1) Sasha has grown up with one surety: she’s not normal. She sees things in the darkness that no one else can see. Mysterious men cloaked in shadow, moving through the night. The problem is, pointing out invisible people is a fast track to a padded cell. Orphaned at age five, Sasha quickly learns an important survival tip: keep her mouth shut and stay out of the spotlight. Until one night, everything changes. Suddenly, the men she was convinced were hallucinations, are very real. And very dangerous. As a new world opens up around her, she meets him. The Boss. An alpha leader who entrances her mind and tugs on her body. Primal and sexual, his people have a different set of rules. And they don’t always play nice. As danger rises up around her, her differences may be the only thing that saves her life. Sasha must embrace the things she tried so hard to hide, while resisting the person her body craves most. She has finally found her shadow men, and they will change her life forever. Braving the Elements (Book 2) With a life goal of fitting in, Sasha hopes her strange abilities will finally make true friendship a possibility. Unfortunately, her magic doesn’t function like everyone else’s. What she thought would make her belong, sets her apart now more than ever. Stefan, all but promised to a different woman, has tried to keep his mind on his duties instead of the irresistible and free-spirited human. But when she is threatened, he can’t keep his distance anymore. He realizes he’ll stop at nothing to keep her safe, and more importantly, make her his. Just when one thing clicks into place, another spirals out of control. Stefan’s clan isn’t the only group that would benefit from an extremely rare type of magic. And their enemies will stop at nothing to get what they want. On a Razor's Edge (Book 3) Life for Sasha isn’t getting easier. She has survived run-in’s with monstrous Dulcha, lived through an abduction, and even made it past Charles’ constant badgering for sex. But if she thought the hurdles of this new life were behind her, she was dead wrong. When the Regional comes to visit Stefan’s clan, the pressure increases. Sasha finds herself on a giant scale, assessed for her magic and held in the balance. If she doesn’t have the magic Stefan hopes, she could find herself on the street while still in grave danger. Even with a favorable outcome, however, her inability to use her magic presents a road block not easily crossed. Demons (Book 4) It’s been a long road, but Sasha has finally claimed her role as the least knowledge mage in history. She’s also acquired a new, incredibly grumpy bodyguard, and a spunky new BFF. With her team by her side, she learns the ropes of this new profession. Her experience level is about to be fast-tracked, however. On a routine trip to check out a perimeter breach, she encounters a hideous demon called by an experienced magic worker. It is this terrifying discovery that unlocks a deeper problem: Stefan’s troubled past. Darkness Series: 1. Into the Darkness 2. Braving the Elements 3. On a Razor's Edge 4. Demons 5. The Council 6. Love this series Sasha is human. Orphaned young and grew up with a nice foster family, but has never felt like she belonged. She see shadow people that no one else seems to see. These first few books follow Sasha as she struggles with a new power, and new people who are not human. I absolutely love her friendship with Charles. This has a bit of everything. Paranormal, twisted humor, sex.

The first book was fairly controversial for the inclusion of some dub-con (and non-con with a mind wipe gone wrong) sexy times. This race of "not humans but not vampires" are very sexually oriented and free; both with their own kind (consensually and quite enthusiastically) and with the stupid humans who they lure into sexy times with their pheromones and then wipe their minds of all memories. This theme is carried out throughout all the books in that it is part of the "culture" of this race; but it really only plays a part in the first book - and then the romance and sexy parts reads like a traditional paranormal romance.

5 stars This was a re-read for me from a year-ish ago. The story was just as entertaining for me as the first time, maybe even more because i knew to anticipate good things coming. The story is full of action, humor, and the sexy times are pretty hot. Now - the first book is the one that gets everyone's panties in a twist so let me explain to those that don't take stories, especially paranormal stories *rolls eyes dramatically* as non-fiction, or heaven forbid, an instruction manual.... this is a s 5 stars This was a re-read for me from a year-ish ago. Now - the first book is the one that gets everyone's panties in a twist so let me explain to those that don't take stories, especially paranormal stories *rolls eyes dramatically* as non-fiction, or heaven forbid, an instruction manual.... this is a story about a race of magical non-humans that are similar to succubi and incubi (though they don't actually feed off a person's essence) and vampire but - not. They are completely made up, nothing I'VE ever read about. But they do have the capability of using pheromones to bend someone's will. And that includes taking sex without consent while making the recipient enjoy it. It's their race, it's not right but it's in the story. For those already turning red in the face at the concept after reading that description, would it help you to know that some in this race agree that things need to change? Probably not, but the point is, it's just an entertaining story and only the first book focuses on the pheromone thing, though it is brought up occasionally throughout the series. If you can read through this review without wanting to do bodily harm then I think you can read the story and enjoy it for what it is. The romance is fairly quick for an urban fantasy series- established couple by book two instead of book five, which makes loyal romance lovers, such as myself, very happy. If you like your paranormal without romance this is NOT the series for you. There are a LOT of sexy times and the romantic link between the MCs is pivotal to the story as a whole. So I'm off to get the next part of the series since it only continues to get more interesting and action filled as the series continues.

I am absolutely bat-shit crazy over this series. If you like Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series, then you will love the Darkness series. As a matter of fact, I think it's better than True Blood. Mystery, intrigue, hot Mansion sex (you'll get that after you read the books), extremely sexy, tall, muscled men with glowing tattoos who know how to work a sword (both literally and figuratively). I do tend to get a little frustrated with her when she does her magic but it simply adds to her character and to the all around humor. Great storylines and plots, awesome character development with even awesomer (is that's a word) dialog and banter. You will LOL while reading this series ... lots of funny stuff being done and said. I can't say enough about this series. There is a total of eight books and I read them within three days. I really couldn't put them down. I highly recommend this series. Toa ... did I mention Toa? OMGosh, I would love to get my hands on him and see what kind of sex faces he makes ... LOL

3.5⭐️‘Into The Darkness’ is book one. Sasha is no ordinary human, all her life she has seen things in the shadows. Being the only one that can has made her cautious and not trust anyone, as they think she is crazy. But one night when out with her boyfriend she realises that the things in the shadows are real and her life is much more complicated then being able to see figures in the shadows. There is many mixed reviews about this book, some being how great it was and a lot about it being terrible. But I did enjoy it. Having said that there is scenes that will cause triggers, but keep in mind this is fictional, the characters are not human and no detailed descriptions are given it is all hinted. The plot I found to be very intriguing and interesting, the concept of there being more than meets the eye was exhilarating. The characters are all unique and bring their own flair and mystery to the story. 3.5⭐️‘Braving the Elements’ is book two. Having to go to school to learn her magic, Sasha thought this was going to be the place to fit in, make new friends, and not be an outsider. But being a human means she is going to have a hard time, especially when everyone thinks she’s the Boss’ pet. The characters growth and development is this book was great. Watching Sasha trying to learn her magic and learn to be in a world she knows nothing about. Constantly being berated and dismissed only added to her growth. The friendship growing between Sasha and Charles had me in stitches at times with their banter, although Charles is constantly trying to get in Sasha’s pants there is a wonderful bond between them. Stefan and Sasha’s relationship is a whole other thing, the constant tug and pull, and the chemistry, *fans self. Watching Stefan having a sense of humour brings a softer side to the brutal and hard man we first encounter. Hold on to your pants cause this is going to be one heck of a ride. So buckle in and enjoy! 4🔥🔥🔥🔥‘On a Razor’s Edge’ is book three. The Regional has come to asses Sasha’s magical abilities and Stefan’s choice for a mate. Sasha must learn to control her magic before someone gets hurt, especially with Trek and Andris determined more than ever to get Sasha. An alliance between Stefan’s people and the Mata (Shape Shifters) need to be formed if there is hope for success, but with so much history between them it’s not going to be easy. A new type of “human” species is introduced in this book, although a lot isn’t explain about them, they however are a pack made up of different animal shifters, bear, “cats” and wolves, etc. This book was fast paced with another explosive fight, new levels of relationship between Stefan and Sasha, friendships and secrets revealed. It’s very hard to write this review without giving any of the plots and twists away but please read this series. I was recommended it through a Facebook group I’m in and I can say I’m throughly enjoying it. So many scenes stick out in this book but the one that I feel deserves a mention is when Sasha is being assessed with her magic abilities. It had me in stitches with the reactions when things wouldn’t go right (as per Sasha’s way), then heartache when she used White magic. But the one that had me hysterical was in the room after the freezing incident with her shield and the guards lol. Cryptic I know but if you go and read the book you’ll understand. 4🔥🔥🔥🔥‘Demons’ is book four. Sasha now the clans Mage and co-leader, soon to be mated officially to Stefan, she finds her self now having to act like a leader while still trying to learn her magic. When out on a routine border check what is found is going to push Sasha to grow a backbone and rule beside her mate. But in the process of finder herself she may loose Stefan when his past comes back to haunt him. I’m just loving this series, each and everyone of the characters play a special role in Sasha’s life. The loveable funny and sometimes immature brother figure Charles, the hotheaded short tempered protector Jonas, vampire looking eye staring lecturer Toa, the newly father figure Dominicus and lastly but don’t let him hear that he was last the overly protective sexy Boss Stefan. All unique and all bring something that helps keeps Sasha centred, protected and grow. The pages of this book were just exploding with so much going on. Having a past enemy showing up with new problems and troubles for Sasha and Stefan to deal with. Past secrets revealed, new alliances, and new dangers. The characters continue to grow and attach to your heart. Jonas was the biggest shock of all in this book, from book one ‘Into the Darkness’ Jonas has been a thorn in Sasha’s life, leaving her to die, threatening to use her body, but he is now a determined protector of Sasha and will do everything to make sure she is safe. Even if it’s from himself as she pushes and irritates his patience. Seeing a vulnerable and broken side of Stefan was torturous, my heart went out to him when he recalls his past to Sasha, I just wanted rap my arms around him. I just love this series and can’t wait to see what happens next in ‘The Council’, so I’ll be ending this review here, but before I go I’ll leave this quote from Charles as it had me in stitches. “Well, goody, rainbows and unicorns. Lovely working conditions.” - Charles

Family and Friends I just finished reading four excellent stories. We have Sasha and Stefan plus Charles, Jonas and then we have Dad and Tao. We also have the shifters, Tim and Ann and many more. I was skeptical... I’ll admit, the first few chapters where all of the men in this story are major masochistic jerks, had me hating them. Like a fungus though, they eventually won me over to where I am seriously invested in this series! I can’t wait to get to Jonas’s book and have some woman tear his entire world apart!

I’ve devoured almost every series she’s written and enjoyed each one. She writes fantasy based both in the modern world and in distant or fantasy worlds as in her Warrior Chronicles series. One thing her stories all have in common that is also common to most fantasy series is a hero or heroine who comes from modest beginnings to discover they possess unique powers. In her case it’s always the heroine. Also as is standard in Breene’s stories the heroine with the incredible magical powers is paired up with a strong alpha male figure with powers of his own that compliment the heroines. Also, standard in Breene’s books once the heroine and hero are intimate their powers merge and become stronger as a special bond between the two is formed that gives them a heightened awareness of each other. Her heroines and heroes are great characters in this case Sasha a 22 year old orphaned C.C. student who has unique magic and Stefan the clan leader of a powerful group of people who hide in the shadows who cannot resist her charms. In the early books I could literally feel Sasha’s sense of being an outsider without a real home and family and her desire for both. Even with her childhood sweetheart Jared whom she's been with since high school she can't feel free to be her true self and reveal her secrets. This book also contains some really enjoyable secondary characters like Charles and Jonas members of Stefan’s Watch Guard assigned to protect Sasha and Tim the alpha of the local shifter group and Ann a shifter who befriends Sasha who is desperately in need of a female friend. Like all the Breen books I’ve read this series is a fun ride, a page turner that made it difficult for me to put my e-reader down. There’s plenty of action, suspense, drama and quite a bit more sexy times than was in some of her other series like the Warrior Chronicles or Magical Mayhem. Be forewarned. Where the sex in those two series was mostly PG as in suggested this one is definitely a hard R if not an X as in the sex scenes are fairly explicit and frequent. All in all another great, fun series by Breene.

One in a Million I have just thoroughly enjoyed listening to K. F Breene's first four books of the Darkness series for free with KU and Text to Speech. Sasha is a lovely young human who since childhood has been able to see the men in the shadows that nobody else sees. It is not until during an unfortunate encounter she meets Stefan that she discovers she is not mad. The men are real and for some reason she feels an instant, strong and binding connection to a man she should fear but instead longs for. No matter how many times her mind is wiped she finds her way back to him... Is he her soulmate, her saviour or her destruction? Throughout the four books this connection only grows stronger. Duty wars against desire as Leader Stefan tries to contain a threat against the clan whilst staying away from the human who captivates him. When it becomes apparent that Sasha is much more than she seems and at great risk it becomes paramount that he discover what she is and the type of power she can wield. As the truth of her strange abilities becomes clear Sasha collects a diverse group of friends and allies. Warriors like Charles her cute bodyguard who knits and behaves like a sex crazed teenager but would die to protect her. But in the end her only real hope of survival is her connection with soulmate, Stefan (The Boss) the sexy as sin terrifying leader of the clan. Together they could be a one in a million force of nature but divided they could bring the world down around their ears. This box set is a great introduction to Stefan and Sasha's world but there is much more of their story to come. Many more trials, more blood, more tears and a lot more hot sex before K.F. will finally allow them their HEA. I am off to pick up the next book in the series and I am not going to stop until I finish. Will be a long few days and even longer nights but worth it. It's a great way to while away the hours during lockdown!

I usually don't read books with shirtless guys on the cover. Seeing shirtless dudes usually means there's a lot of sex in the story, and I don't usually enjoy that; I prefer my books to be a little more light and flowery with the romance and less graphic. That said, for whatever reason I was in a "shirtless dudes" sort of mood that day, so I'm not going to hold it against K.F. Breene that there's a lot of sex in this series-- that would just be illogical. I will also note that there is some variety in the way Breene writes these sexual encounters, so it's not just the same sex scene over and over again (unlike SOME urban fantasy/PNR authors I could name...) What makes this series worthwhile is the worldbuilding aspect. The Darkness borrows heavily from vampire lore, but still puts a different spin on things, so you're not dealing with typical creatures of the night. I couldn't really get a bead on what Sasha was supposed to be like as a main character; sometimes she would be snarky, and sometimes she'd seem to lose that quality. I only really started to like her in the later books, after this boxset, when she's grown as a character and has more specific traits. The biggest weakness of this series, and the reason I'm not giving it the full five stars, is how magic is handled. Breene goes into great detail about how the magic in this world actually functions, which is admirable, but it doesn't quite gel with everything else. There are too many descriptions of different colors of magic swirling together and building on each other and such, and it slows down the narrative. I prefer it when writers of fantasy put thought into their magical systems, but I think these magic sequences just needed to be edited down a bit. Still, recommended for fans of paranormal romance and for urban fantasy fans that don't mind a little sex (okay, maybe a lot of sex) in their stories.

If you can step back and view some of these characters like part of a nudist colony, or like the more carnal early Romans/Greeks where nudity and sex is part of the culture and accept that then it won’t bother you...except for that early scene with Darla in the red high heels...eww. If the sex scenes seemed like book filler then I did like the previous reviewer and skipped along because the story is imaginative, really entertaining and I liked the characters, relationships and the many growing challenges they face. When Sasha, the heroine human who is discovered to have high level magical abilities begins her magic lessons, I was chuckling and laughing out loud. The development of her strong and brave character, marred by self doubt due to deep insecurities from losing her parents and being raised in foster care is beautifully done. Her growth and relationship to Stefan is very “feel good” as it develops into deep love and loyalty. Suspends belief and good writing so I recommend it unless you really hate nudity and occasional sex scenes which happen more in the beginning as it is how the non-humans are defined.

Supernatural Bodice Ripper I would give this 3.5 stars if possible. It was an enjoyable read, but it’s difficult for me to understand all the five stars as I reserve that for books that are considered classics. I had thought I was over bodice rippers, but the supernatural twist drew me in. It’s a bit easier to believe if it’s unbelievable, so to speak. The writing is decent, only occasionally finding it necessary to reread a sentence: usually when it comprises an entire paragraph. The characters are interesting and, despite the supernatural, they are relatable. The books (ASIDE: this is the first 4 in this series, thoughtfully combined into one; wish the next were done that way as well) are quick and fast-paced reads. You’ll most definitely be thinking about Sookie et al., when reading these, though these four books are not, IMO, as good as the True Blood series, which I rate between 4 and 4.5, depending on the book. Be warned that there is lots of sex! One might think there is too much, yet it doesn’t detract too often from the plot. Am wondering how the life span issue will be handled. Overall, if you like very sexy supernatural chick lit, you’ll enjoy this.

Excellent read! Firstly the box set was good value for money! The story’s are the type when you kinda know what’s going to happen but there’s always something in the way or a twist, you find you are so intrigued by the characters, and you really want it don’t want certain actions to play out and so it keeps you guessing and reading on! There is a fair amount of sex described in the books, but it’s definitely not on every other page. I don’t think I’d be comfortable with a young teenager reading Excellent read! The only disappointing thing for me in the latter books was that the plot was predictable in regards to Sasha’s magic will save the day with help from her friends - the same scenario form the previous book. Although there all individual stories and definitely worth a read there is a certain amount of predictability, however the author always finishes the story off before moving on and there is always some developments to look forward too; Onto the next book for me - I want to see what will happen next.

This book has an awesome plot, great character development and lots of exciting action! I cannot recommend it to any of my friends or family, however. The steamy sex scenes were way more explicit than necessary, in my opinion, and I almost quit reading the book during the first one. The plot was so good, I was intrigued enough to finish it, but I was uncomfortable and it seemed like porn to me. I would not have read it at all if I had known that. I wish this author would try to be like the movies of old, where implications and imagination sufficed to let you know what was transpiring. I am not a prude, but while my most favorite author of all time sold his first book promising "wide open beavers inside," his sex scenes were at least tasteful, and the only "beaver" was a hand-drawn animal. Frankly, the explicitness ruined a great story for me and I won't trust the author's taste enough to ever read another.

A series full of adventure, action, sex, intrigue and power struggles between good and evil as well as something more between different species. I am looking forward to the rest of the books in this series.

This series was a rough start for me Not going to sugar coat this, the first book was rough. The writing was amateur at best. It felt rushed...a sex scene in the first chapter rushed. There was choppy dialogue, and a real lack of direction. I'm a tough critic what can I say? I never just give up on an author, I read the next two books and saw marked improvement. The characters became better developed as well as the story line. I got bored through many chapters with all of the explaining. If the writer would have taken the time to shore up some critical dialogue and story line issues it would get a better review. I'm stopping after book 4, it's just not hooking my interest enough to keep going.

Fun series! The endings to each book aren't even cliffhangers - so refreshing! The characters are interesting and well defined, as is the world's in which they live in. The writing style is a bit hard to keep up with, the pov changes every once in a while. Some authors use chapter headings with the name of the character in the sections pov. Not this one, It's a surprise! Sometimes it takes a paragraph or two to figure out whose mind we're in. Sexy times between the main characters are spicy, but the Fun series! I hope the rest of the stories are available on KU so I can finish the series in the future.

I like the 1st book, didn't even get half way through the 2nd. I don't recommend this series unless you happen to like LOTS of sex scenes which I feel ruin the plot. The whole idea of one of the humanoid species seems to be sex after sex after sex with anyone around. Definitely runs what could have been an interesting read. Won't be reading any more of Breene's books based on this series. Not my favorite series I usually like this author, but this series was a bit disappointing, especially the beginning. I kept flipping back to the cover to double check the author’s name. It was that bad. Once you get pass the bad patch (75% of book 1) though, the storyline and characters do become more interesting.. until they don’t. So WHY did I finish the box set? One, I hate NOT finishing a book (books). Two, I was stressed and it was any easy, uncomplicated read. Three, I liked Charles. Couldn’t put it down! This was a very engaging series. It’s not the entire series. I haven’t looked to see if the rest of the books are on kindle, but I hope they are. The sex scenes are...stimulating. Haha. The writer was difficult to follow at times. It seems like the chapters start mostly in the first person, then switch to third. This makes it difficult to know which character is “talking.” Overall, this was still a good read and I would encourage you to read it. Happy reading y’all!

Love this series This is the second time I’ve read this series now. It’s so good. The characters have depth and funny quirks, and if you didn’t care for them in book one (like Jonas), you slowly start seeing behind all his anger and pain to see how awesome he is as well. Love all the characters. Wish there was some more of the Matas (shape shifters) in the first four books. Although I’ve read all the books before, it’s been a few years and the details are missing, so I’m soooo excited to continue Love this series This is the second time I’ve read this series now. Sasha knew things were different, she just had to prove it When Sasha as very little, she was involved in a multiple car accident, resulting in everyone being like; except her. She had always seen shadows of people. Most thought her off. Her love and best friend, Jared, took it good natured. Shadows kept appearing though, she wanted to prove to herself, she was sane. Boy oh boy what lurked in the shadows, terrifying and amazing! She knew there was something she needed from them, but what?

Sasha's struggles to harness her magic and her relationship with the shadow community is always in flux. The characters in this story have varied personalities. My favorite has to be Charles. He is the most crass and outspoken of them all. His one track mind always brings out the violent side of most females including his friend, Sasha. I can't help but laugh at his comments and antics. This is a great story with plenty of excitement, intrigue, and monsters. I Love It!!!!! Sasha's struggles to harness her magic and her relationship with the shadow community is always in flux. A four book series all together in 1 The first book was fantastic 😁. It kept my interest til the end and I went straight to 2 which was ok just not as good as 1. By the 3rd book things just got a little crazy, too outlandish for my taste and 👎book 4 was just so bad 😢I was skipping pages to try to make it they to the end. If your looking for a good book just read book 1 without the rest, it was very good and very satisfying😁🐥
