I was given a copy of this book to rate and review. I did enjoy this book and appreciate that it is trying to tackle the sensitive subject of obesity in children I just kept being distracted by the awkward meter of the book. My four year old kept remarking on the fact that the lines didn't rhyme. I had to reread the book to her several times before she was able to focus on the moral of the story, but once she got it, she really got it. Perhaps an older child will savvy on to it quicker. This is such a cute book for the little ones…This is a story about Toby, a cute, bright turtle, who loves to eat everything…He eats so much that he becomes so fat that his shell no longer fits his body…His mom calls for experts from everywhere to advise and support the little turtle to loose weight. Each recipe is not only easy to make, it is healthy also… I enjoyed the book and the kids absolutely loved it. This is a good motivational book especially if you have a child with weight issues…The illustrations are cute and they complement the story very well!!! The story is fun and inspiring, the characters are interesting, and the language is simple and easy to comprehend…

Toby is a little turtle who loves to eat. He eats everything in sight until his shell no longer fits his body. Everyone has an opinion on what Toby should do to be more comfortable...rubbing herbs on him, making his shell have a zipper, they even try magic spells...but try as they might nothing works. Its when he takes the advice of an old wise turtle who tells him to exercise more and give up late night snacks and sweets that he starts to loose the pounds. Its when he takes the advice of an old wise turtle who tells him to exercise more and give up late night snacks and sweets that he starts to loose the pounds. A year later you would never have guessed he was the little tubby turtle who barely fit in his shell. This story looks to teach kids that there is no easy or magic solution. It takes hard work and most importantly time. I especially liked that there were some healthy and creative food art ideas which are illustrated at the end of the book. The story has a forced meter / rhyming scheme which can be awkward and distracting at times. While the story was cute I think the topic of obesity might be a little advanced for some children to comprehend. I received a copy of this book for review purposes, my opinions are 100% my own.

Toby Turtle likes to eat sweets and junk food. He likes to eat so much of it that his shell is becoming more spacious and wide and he is having trouble inhaling! Nothing works to loosen his shell, not even help from a fireman or a policeman. The only thing he can do to give himself relief is to eat better and exercise. And when he does this (even though a year slips away), something amazing happens to make him feel and look better! I loved the picture in this book comparing unhealthy sweets to healthy veggies. The recipes in the back of the book for using healthy fruits and vegetables to create art like “Carrot Fish”, “Pear Chicken”, and “Tangerine Lion” were interesting and I think children will have fun with creating that art! This book does a great job of educating children on healthy versus unhealthy eating! Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Having a child who is obese this book really screamed out to me and I couldn't wait to read it. There aren't too many children's books out there that hit on this epidemic. Another bonus was it was easy to read for my daughter who is 8. She actually enjoyed the book and compared his shell to her clothes. Int he book we meet Toby who loves to eat. I would recommend this book to anyone who has an overweight child in their life or those who are just trying to get their children to eat healthier. I received this book free in return for a review.

Cute idea and helps develop early I wasn't sure what to think of this book when I was starting to read it. I honestly believed that there wasn't going to be a good way to move forward with this subject. However, it quickly changed my mind. I had read a review that had said obesity may be too advanced a subject for some children. While I agree to a point, the way this book approaches it is more of a lesson on learning that eating healthy food and being active some way will leave them feeling health Cute idea and helps develop early I wasn't sure what to think of this book when I was starting to read it. I loved how the book had all these different 'tricks' to help him feel better, but the only one that worked was about healthy eating and activity. If a child read this book at different stages of their life, they would start to learn more and more of the story. I think this book is great, and if you want a easy read that promotes healthy lifestyles this is a good choice! I did receive this book complimentary for review purposes, and the opinion is 100% my own.

This is a cute little book, and one with a good lesson. It teaches kids that fresh fruits and veggies are good for you, as is exercise. They can see in the book that as Toby starts eating less junk, and exercising more, his shell isn't so tight. It is because with the right diet and exercise, Toby has lost weight. I also really like the snack ideas at the end of the book, and have made each one with my kids. I definitely recommend this book to anyone that wants to teach their kiddos about healthy This is a cute little book, and one with a good lesson. This book was a great book on eating right! I loved the images, and the story itself. It is about a turtle that gets fat from eating too much and has trouble fitting inside of his shell. As a children's book, this is probably one of my favorite books. It's easy to read and has a great meaning behind it. Toby is a turtle who has bad habits and his mom is trying to find a way to help him get into a comfortable shell. I'm not going to spoil the end of the story, but my son loves the book!
