Jamie Bond. And her life is about to be shaken and stirred in a cocktail of sex, lies, scandal, and one very dead body. Jamie Bond is a former cover model who switches gears to take over the family business: The Bond Agency, a high-powered P.I. firm located in Los Angeles that specializes in domestic espionage—catching cheating husbands. Jamie's assembled a team of other disenchanted former models to help her take names and kick derrieres among L.A.'s wealthiest philandering husbands. Her current client: Mrs. Veronica Waterston, the young, distraught wife of superior court judge, Thomas Waterston, known for his tough sentencing, right-wing leanings, and his fondness for blondes with double D's. Easy target. But Jamie's simple case takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the not-so-good judge winds up on the ten o'clock news with a bullet through his head. It's clear that someone has set Jamie up, and suddenly she's on the run, under fire, and in serious jeopardy of losing it all. With a hot A.D.A. on her trail, a killer on the loose, and her life on the line, Jamie must prove once and for all that nobody messes with a Bond. Secret Bond (book #2) Her name is Bond. Jamie Bond. And she is licensed to kill any pre-nup you can throw at her. Catching cheating husbands became Jamie Bond's life when her father was shot and wounded on the job, forcing Jamie to take over the family business: The Bond Agency. But three years later, the P.I. is shocked when the gun that wounded her father surfaces during a high-profile murder trial. Is this the connection Jamie's been waiting for to finally nail her father's shooter? But, oddly enough, Derek Bond doesn't seem interested. In fact, if Jamie didn't know better she'd say he's even trying to stop her from looking into it. Along with her team of bombshell investigators, Jamie suddenly finds herself in the middle of a cold case that's heating up the media, dodging old grudges and new enemies, while questioning the motives of those closest to her. If she can live with the truth, the secrets Jamie uncovers may bring down more than a marriage this time. Lethal Bond (book #3) Her name is Bond. Jamie Bond. And her luck may have just run out... P.I. Jamie Bond knows there's corruption in the Los Angeles County D.A.'s office. What she doesn't know is how far it runs and if her on-again, off-again love interest, A.D.A. Aiden Prince, is involved. Is he aware of the danger lurking in his halls of justice? Is he dating his exotic beauty of a co-chair? And why are drug dealers making middle of the night calls to the D.A.? Jamie is determined to find out. But between one case of an "open marriage" wife who fears her husband is secretly monogamous, an Elvis obsessed musician crushing on her employee, and an over-sexed baby-boomer father, Jamie has her hands full. Not to mention one hot photographer, Danny Flynn, who seems determined to take their relationship from "best friend" to "best night of her life." The boundaries between personal and professional blur in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse, where no one can be trusted...and not everyone will make it out alive.

I read this book over a period of about two months, but I didn't read it constantly, all in one go. Because it contains three complete novels, and a full three chapter sample of another one, I read one story, and then went off to read something else, and then came back and read the second story, etc. Here are my reviews, broken down by each of the three books in the boxed set: Unbreakable Bond ================ My rating: 4 stars This book's hilarious! It's about a female private investigator named James Bond (because her father, Derek Bond, always wanted a boy), but she just goes by Jamie. We pick up the story as Jamie is getting lambasted by her lawyer/accountant about the terrible state her agency is, and being forced to decide which one of her staff members to fire. Jamie's agency specialises in female clients, for which Jamie and her girls find proof of the clients' husbands infidelity. They do this, most often, by cosying up to the husbands, flirting with them, and getting them to agree (on tape) to have affairs. They then take this taped evidence back to the client, the client pays them, and then armed with the proof, takes the husband for everything he's got. I couldn't decide if this was genius, or actually rather evil, because the ways in which the detectives get in the men's faces, teasing them, egging them on, I have a hard time believing that any man could resist. I know I'D have a really hard time! The writing is punchy and very vivid. It's really like watching a movie in your head. You can see the characters' movements, feel what they're feeling, hear their dripping, syrupy voices. Other than the odd editing issue, I really don't have anything negative to say about this one. I'm looking forward to reading the next! Secret Bond =========== My rating: 3 stars I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as the first one. The writing was snappy, clever, and very evocative, as was the first episode. I also chuckled quite a bit at some of the plotlines, particularly the ones in the nudist colony, and where they were trying to catch the gay husband cheating. (What's that? Aren't I just SUCH a tease?!) The thing is, there was just so much going on in this episode. I understand that Jamie Bond is a very busy PI, and has more than one issue going on in her life at a time, but I felt this time it was just a bit... too much. There are lots of plots running simultaneously, some are resolved independently of the main plot, and others prove to be connected to the main plot. The story started out well enough, and grabbed my interest, but after the third simultaneous plot, I started to lose the... well, the plot. I often couldn't remember who all the various characters were, and I sometimes mistook them for characters on other cases. It was all over the place, very "ADD". I still think it's worth a read, but it takes quite a bit of concentration to get through Secret Bond, and I still don't fully understand who the various players were in the main mystery and what part they played. Lethal Bond =========== My rating: 4 stars This one was WAY better, but still not enough to justify the elusive five star review. By this time, the characters are well established and so is the author's style. She's not trying to prove anything, or hook the reader, so she can simply relax and write. And it shows - reading it is a much more relaxing experience than the first two. The plot is a lot easier to follow as well. Like the first two, there are side-plots, but they're pretty simple, and don't get in the way of or intertwine with the main one, so they can actually be ignored if you wish (don't - they're pretty funny). Lethal Bond was a perfect conclusion to my three episode romp. It satisfied me, but also left me wanting more. So much so, that I might just pick up book four. So much for Chick Lit (as this book is categorised). I'm not a chick, but I enjoyed it just fine. It just goes to show that labels are generally not worth the paper they're written on!

Fantastic read. Enjoyed these three books. Gemma is a great writer, keeps you on the edge of your seat through the whole book. She keeps you guessing from page one until the end of the book. She needs to hurry up with number four in this series. Can hardly wait.
