A riveting crime thriller, we have John Rutiger living the high life on the island of Antigua after he absconded with millions from a hedge fund. On the run he makes his way to Cape Verde, where the woman who double crossed him for most of his millions is now living with her ailing father. It turns out that Kate has recently invested most of the money in a dodgy ponzi scheme with an unscrupulous Swiss banker, so Rutiger and Kate make plans to get it back, all with the US Attorney on their tails the whole time. Wow, I devoured this book in one afternoon. I had to know what happened in their quest for the millions, that weren't even theirs to start with. Crooks they may be but Rudiger and Kate are such wonderful characters you can't help but like them, and you find yourself cheering them on through the whole book. The over the top schemes they plan are so elaborate you can't help but wonder if they might work. A compelling book, I recommend it for all lovers of crime fiction.

Spin Move is a very appropriate title for this financial thriller. Starts out with a former Deputy Assistant U.S. Attorney being scammed by a Swiss banker. Turns out she scammed the money from a former hedge fund principal who is being chased by the U.S. Attorney for New York. The two get together and plot to recover the money from the Swiss banker. Many twists and turns to the elaborate con they set up to swindle the banker. A real page turner and as I wrote, several twists in the tale. John Rudiger, a former Wall Street hedge fund manager, is a fugitive financier who has been exiled. For eleven years he has been forced to live in Antigua. That worked fine for John until the officials one day start wanting more money to maintain his cover. The problem: Rudiger is short on cash ever since his ex-girlfriend Katie Dolan had swindled him out of his last millions. Rudiger has no choice than to search for Katie, who is hiding in Cape Verde. The problem: Rudiger is short on cash ever since his ex-girlfriend Katie Dolan had swindled him out of his last millions. Rudiger has no choice than to search for Katie, who is hiding in Cape Verde. And to make matters more complicated, Rudiger is still into Katie. Add to this a vicious Swiss banker who stole the money from Katie and a U.S. Attorney who is looking for the two undeterred by national boundaries, and you get a gripping, plot-twisting read. David Lender is a master of white-collar crime stories. In this novel he brings back one of his greatest characters and takes readers along on his ride halfway around the world. It’s probably not your everyday business setting, but it’s the right novel to combat lockdown by letting your mind wander off to faraway places.

Ponzi schemer gets conned..a fun read One of the crime genres, or sub-genres, I enjoy reading is "The Sting"- like story in which a cheater gets cheated. The reader does not have to be any more than an occasional reader of the financial news to get the gist of the story in which a smooth Swiss banker convinces divorced women or widows with handsome bank accounts to invest in his Ponzi scheme. Except that this time he has scammed the sometime girl friend of a Wall Street broker ran off with about 30 million of funds that he had acquired on his own little investment fund peccadillo. The ex-Wall Streeter and his girl friend, reunited in righteous anger, of a sort, want their money back and concoct their own scheme to get it back from the Swiss banker . At the same time the US Attorney is closing in on the two wanted Americans, the Swiss banker has his own Hired hit-man cum PI, searching for them also. Outrageous, completely believable fun. As I said, David Lender has this kind of story down pat, but not so pat as to become blasé in the writing. His job is to give his reader a good plot and a good time, and he succeeds again. I recommend one of my favorite Kindle book authors for your enjoyment. Notes: some romance, not lurid. A bit of violence at the climax, nothing graphic.

Would you root for the financial fugitive or the U.S. Attorney? I liked the characters, the author writing style, and the story despite some over-the-top adventures. However, I wouldn’t choose this book by its cover, it didn’t catch my attention; nevertheless, I am glad to pick it, pleasant and easy reading. I recommend. ARC BY NETGALLEY

Looking for a light, action filled white collar/finance thriller? As long as you're willing to suspend disbelief for a fun read with likable characters that you can cheer for, Spin Move is a good summer read. It's short though, so you might end up like me, feeling like you could read another hundred pages about John Rudiger and Katie Dolan. Instead of complaining, I'm looking forward to the next David Lender novel and hoping that it'll provide a few days of escape. Looking for a light, action filled white collar/finance thriller? He's back. David Lender is quick to put the financial thriller character Rudiger in some sort of trouble. While the depth of character is not the greatest I do enjoy the Rudiger series. Quick enjoyable read. Highly recommend readers check out Lender's series. Some may take this as negative but I enjoy when I finish an author's book and can look forward to another one within a year....it keeps me interested and entertained. He's back. I enjoyed this book. I would call it your average Mystery Thrilled. There just wasnt anything spectacular about John to me. Katie however i loved. This book got four stars because of Katie and her absolutely fantastic characterization. For being a man David Lender wrote a fantastic well rounded woman. I could read an entire series about just her.
