Treasures Lost, Treasures Found - 3/5 - You can really see the difference between Nora's 1980's stuff and her 1990's stuff. It gets so much better. You see it in the fact that her characters have a bit more depth and she actually switches POV. It gets so much better. You see it in the fact that her characters have a bit more depth and she actually switches POV. In this story, Kate is trying to finish her father's dream (he's dead) and goes back to North Carolina, to Ky Silver, to search for the sunken ship that her father was looking for. She and Ky have a history. They'd been in love and when Ky asked Kate to stay, she walked away...unwilling to give up her father's approval. So thing start off very bitter between the two of them. They do soften towards each other, as they must, but Kate continually got on my nerves with her irrational stubbornness and yes, on occasion her stupidity. It frustrated me that she thought everyone was trying to control her and keep her from doing what she needed to do, when they seriously did know better than her and were looking out for her. (view spoiler)[ I don't think asking someone to take some bed rest after they'd been stung by a sting ray and out cold for 24 hours is too much. But no, stupid Kate insists she can dive again the day after. (hide spoiler)] I also got irritated that the heroine blames everything on Ky, who isn't such a bad hero, a bit alpha, but he controls with good reason...and when he doesn't it is often because he's emotionally overwrought. I don't equate wanting to take care of someone and protect them as trying to bend them to your will. So that part of the book didn't really make a whole lot of sense to me. Still, it was a lot better in quality than the early books I've been reading by Nora. I actually enjoyed it. Mind Over Matter - 2/5 - David Brady is doing a documentary on psychics and wants to use Clarisse...only in order to do so, he must go through her formidable agent, A.J. Fields...who also happens to be her daughter. Both of these characters are insanely stubborn, pretty blind about each other's feelings and quick to anger. They frustrated. But it provided a pretty good amount of angst. Despite the character's flaws, this might have been a pretty good book if it had simply ended at the 60-70% mark. Instead it dragged on with little to no point. I began wondering where it was going. All they had to do was say the "I Love You"s. It shouldn't take 30% of the book to get that out once all the secrets have been revealed. But misunderstanding after misunderstanding of these two frustrating characters becoming even more frustrating by avoiding talking and not saying what needs to be said and letting their pride get in the way had me actually not caring whether they ever worked it out.

Just what I needed. You know how it's going to to end & find yourself still enjoying the simple pleasure. Just what I needed. You know how it's going to to end & find yourself still enjoying the simple pleasure.
