how many books was she trying to write at the same time. the whole thing became EXTREMELY tedious to read. the potential is there but to be honest i felt like it was not thoughtfully done. this feels like a 100 yr flashback reel crammed into 5 seconds. not sure what to look forward to with the series. hopefully editing and a bit more finesse.

first impression: A bad copy of Black Dagger Brotherhood. I mean, the King and the (view spoiler)[half-blood (hide spoiler)] Brothers? The plot involved the one-mate thing so cherished for paranormal romance somehow. The guy is old as dirt and she is in their late 30s . Oh, and after put some sort of post-apocalipctic vibes with explosions and dividing America in half, literally, there are no more explanations after that. The Stone Society was a family of Gargoyle shifters dating back hundreds of thousands of years. Rafael’s family, the Di Pietros, migrated from Europe over four hundred years ago, right before the civil war broke out. When his father was slain in a coup to take over the throne, Rafael became King since he was the oldest son. Once King, he took on the less formal name of Stone. Their Clan was the largest in the Americas with Rafe having several brothers and cousins living in New Atlanta with him. He regarded those closest to him as his inner circle and called them all Brother. The females of his kind were almost extinct. It had been years since a new shifter was born; fifteen to be exact. As this is the introductory book, the author feel compelled to put a fair ton of characters in display, too much names and no so much background. The big problem to me is the repeat of actions , short dialogues keep repeating the same thing of others characters already said, again and again. Mmm, even to me, to mention the writting is alarming, this read as some amauteur writter , stilted and without good editing. No bad idea (for pnr as others books of this style - adult) , but poor executed.

DNF at 56%. I can't do it, I tried so hard but I'm over halfway through with the book and the main love interests have only spoken twice. TWICE! There are so many other side stories and characters that I'm exhausted by this point. Not my cup of tea I guess. DNF at 56%. 4.5 Stars! New to me author. Rafael is the first book in the Stone Society series by Faith Gibson. As with all the other first in a series you get more details with the world building, side characters and of course the mysterious villain, than the love life of the hero/Rafael (King of the Gargouille) and heroine/Kaya (which they could have use more story time). I really liked this book! I could feel myself getting excited for what was going to come with the future books in this series. I felt ev 4.5 Stars! New to me author. The bombing of Dr. Jonas Montague’s clinic in Atlanta, Georgia by a group of religious heretics set off a chain of events that left the world in a state of de-evolution. The country was divided, literally. Bombings across America caused the underground fault lines to fissure. The result was a canyon as large as the one named Grand, splitting the US of A almost exactly in half. Civil wars broke out. Governments crumbled." 2047 New Atlanta: Rafael (Di Pietro) Stone is the King of the Gargouille, he, along with his "brothers" (actual family and not) protect humans from the UnHoly, a genetic creation that is "part super soldier and part monster" after the cataclysmic events which happened over 30 years ago. 573 years old, he chooses to stay hidden from the outside world, that is until he becomes a person of interest in a murder case being investigated by Police Chief Kaya Kane. When the two meet, Rafael quickly realizes she is his mate, but this is something unprecedented, as he has always assumed gargoyles could only mate with other gargoyles, and Kaya is human. While the case takes many twists and turns, bringing Rafael and Kaya closer together, Rafael and the Stone Society begin to unravel a lot more secrets than who is targeting them. I ask that you check out my PO section, as I go into a little more detail on some of the reasons I really enjoy this book & series. Characters/fu-bo list: Note: My fu-bo lists tend to be very long, which is why I have decided to start putting them under a spoiler link, but for this series, my reason for putting it under a spoiler link is explained in the PO section of my review. (view spoiler)[Geoffrey "Frey" Hartley - Frey Julian "Jules" Stone - Julian Nikolas Stone - Nikolas Gregor Stone - Gregor Dane Abbott Dante Di Pietro - Dante Willow Bridges Katherine Fox Tamian St. Claire Sinclair "Sin" Stone - Sin Lorenzo Campanelli Jasper Jenkins - Jasper Trevor Michael "Sixx" Gentry - Sixx (view spoiler)[Marley (hide spoiler)] Dr. Isabelle Sarantos Tessa Blackmore Finley Sophia Brooks Vincent Alexander /(view spoiler)[Gabriel (hide spoiler)] Urijah Mason Previous books/already mated prior to book (view spoiler)[Dr. Jonas Montague & Caroline Wexford - Jonas (hide spoiler)] Xavier (hide spoiler)] Personal Opinion: For anyone who has read my reviews in the past, you know I'm a fangirl. My fandoms keep growing, Crowley says it best! I LOVE Gargoyles. Truth. I have been a fan since Disney's Gargoyles. In the shifter lineup, they are second in books I would love to read. Dragons of course being first, Bears now being in third, supplanted by Gargoyles because truth be told, not a lot of authors write about Gargoyles. I know E.A. Price has written a couple (and sadly, at this time, I have not read them yet, but I plan to) and Mandy M. Roth has had one in the works, but hasn't released it yet (at this time). That being said, when I first came across Faith Gibson's Gargoyle series I was super excited. How could I not be, it was like *squee* #feels #Goliath in book form ٩(*❛⊰❛)ʓਡ~❤. So, as you can see from the very concept, I was in love with this book/series. But that is just the beginning of what I enjoy about this series. I like the concept and I have to admit I am not always a big fan of the post-apocolypse/dystopian genre, but it plays well in the world building of this series. The world might be set in 2047, but it's pretty much similar to our world now, which makes it easier to relate to I feel. Another thing I really like about this book/series (and what I have alluded to throughout my review), is the multi-point of views this book uses to kind of give us a 3D experience while we are reading. It also allows us the reader to see where the series is heading, as in while we are reading this book, the other characters are finding their mates and their stories are beginning before we actually get a chance to pick up their book. I guess what it makes me think of is being cinematic. Things are happening on screen and off screen from what we are viewing. I do not think that is coming out correct, so let me try again. The main plot of Rafael is the romance between Rafael and Kaya. They are our protagonists, while Gordon Flanagan & Vincent Alexander are our antagonists. But the secondary characters, while this romance is developing exist and breathe just like you or I, and we as readers get to see this away from that main focus. When I was trying to come up for the word "cinematic," my mind actually said "like a soap opera," but I didn't know how to explain it in that form either, *laughing* Well, I hope you get my idea. I HIGHLY recommend checking out this series, (and as I have continued the series, I can tell you it only gets better as each book continues) and of course it's not just because they feature gargoyles. I don't know, did I tell you it features gargoyles?

The characters are deliciously alive in my head, from young to old and I will be reading all of these books as soon as they are available! Oh to live in New Atlanta and have a Stone of my own! <3

Rafael Stone, has gladly accepted his role as leader of the Gargoyles. In doing so, he became comfortable with his life of solitude, resigned to the fact that his chances of finding a mate were slim and none. His life was full, he had his brothers, cousins, and his work. Kaya Kane grew up knowing that she would follow in her father’s footsteps and become a police officer. She dreamt of bringing law and order to the chaos that was her hometown of New Atlanta. As Police Chief, Kaya lived her professional life in a man’s world, making it hard for the men she associated with to see her as anything but their superior. They certainly didn’t see her as a beautiful, sensual woman. When the bodies of several murdered dignitaries are discovered in a warehouse owned by Rafael Stone, the worlds of Kaya and Rafael collide. While investigating the murders, Chief Kane comes face to face with the reclusive Mr. Stone. From their very first communication, Rafe knows there is something different, special, about Kaya. She stirs something in him that has him needing to learn more about this beautiful, and powerful protector of the people. Never having seen Rafe, Kaya does not know what to expect. She is surprised when she finds a gorgeous man, who just happens to cause her body to come alive with a mere brush against her skin. Little does she know he holds a secret hundreds of years old. The immediate chemistry between the two is palpable. There is no way Rafe can ignore the draw he has to her. Is it possible? Could she be his mate? During the investigation it becomes apparent that the murders were not random, not even politically motivated. They were personal! The mastermind behind the murders has an agenda based on old grievances. He has come back to New Atlanta to find what was taken from him and take revenge on those that took it. Will Chief Kane’s digging put her in the sights of the madman reigning fear over her city? Will Rafe and his clan be able to protect her and the residents of New Atlanta? Only time (and reading the book) will tell. Rafael is the first paranormal book written by Faith Gibson. As an avid reader, fan of the genre and talented story teller, Faith has painted a wonderfully exciting portrait of these sexy shifters, and the times in which the reside. Throughout the book, my emotions mimicked those of the Goyles. When they were fearful or angry, i was feeling it with them. While at the same time, my blood heated when the pent up desires and passions were revealed. As with her previous books, Fatih has the ability to tell a story that captures the reader. But this time, she invites us into her imagination as we take flight with Rafael and the Stone Society to watch over the residence of New Atlanta. ***I received an ARC for an honest review. I also bought a copy. http://tastywordgasms.theblogpress.com

I received this ARC from the author, who was new to me. I truly love the experience of reading by a new author. Faith Gibson well be one of my favs! There may be a lot of Gargoyle shifter stories out there, but for me it was rare and I enjoyed the whole story. A decent length with just the right amount of detail, not a cliff hanger but other books will come. If I had to pick a negative...Id have to say how the story went into the different scenes, it confused me just a bit but I was able to get I received this ARC from the author, who was new to me. Its a busy story with a lot going on, I figured being the first book was laying ground work for the others. It rare for me to be all for the heroine, but yeah I had to give props for the sassy, intelligent and strong Chief Kane. Pretty well no nonsense and all about her job that she seemed to earn well. In a world that has changed, she and her department works hard. Kaya being in the position she has, doesn't really have time to date but she has made herself okay with that. The sexy Gargoyle King Rafael Stone is very private and stays in the shadows, it gives him the ability to be able to stay in the city that he loves and not having to explain his ageless appearance. Its been quiet awhile that Rafe has been with a woman, but a simple phone call has him acting like a green boy. When they actually meet in person Kaya and Rafe feel the sparks and neither or sure what to do about it. For Rafael Kaya is human and may not be compatible. For Kaya...Rafe is a person of interest in a on going murder investigation. Family and Friends... co workers all running around telling half stories. I actually had to laugh... for if they all would like bump into each other, everything would come to light. Some sociopath take of the world, zombie army types, a assassin, half bloods and clones. Mixed up with a bit of danger and mystery and stir in some hot squirming sex and you have a amazing read. I hope I have the pleasure of reading the next book in the series. Enjoy.

I enjoyed this listen on audiobook. It took a moment to get in the groove and follow along the story line. It’s a nice departure in the supernatural world to a different group other than vampires, werewolves, etc. I’d like to see a little more depth in the characters going forward, it was a little hard to connect in this first installment but the series has potential so I’ll be moving on to the next chapter soon.

The only reason this book got two stars from me is because I thought the epilogue was sweet. Everything else in it was boring. I couldn't relate to Kaya and I just felt like there were too many stories going on at once. This book was not for me. Books are interpreted in different ways, I would recommend this book because maybe, just maybe, it could become a future favorite for someone else. Hi, my name is Becca and I am addicted to The Stone Society. I was first introduced to The Stone Society by a friend, same as most of you I'm sure. Peer pressure, am I right? Anyways, so my friend tells me about this awesome way to spend my time. Something that's going to make me laugh, cry, and best of all get turned on! Whose going to turn away something like that? Not me, that's for sure. So I decided I would give it a try, I mean one little peek at the book can't hurt right? Wrong! With just one Hi, my name is Becca and I am addicted to The Stone Society. So I decided I would give it a try, I mean one little peek at the book can't hurt right? Wrong! With just one peek at the first chapter I knew I was in trouble. I was HOOKED! I couldn't stop reading, no matter how hard I tried! The imaginative plot, the multiple POVs and the mystery of the mates was just too damn good. Like many addicts, I found myself ignoring things and people that were important to me. Cleaning the house could totally wait one more chapter. Hubby wants to cuddle? Just one more page I promise babe, I'll really stop after this one! When I stayed up until dawn reading...I knew that I had hit rock bottom and my addiction had won. So, once I finished reading Rafael, like I was going to stop in the middle haha, I decided to wait it out before I started Gregor... It didn't take long for the withdrawal symptoms to start. I found myself daydreaming about Gregor and who his mate would be. Would the Unholy do something huge this time? Gordon was never found in the last one...where is that douche? Who is that Alexander guy anyways? Would Tessa screw up the plan? Why, what, will it?!? Yep, I'm weak...I quickly reached for my Kindle to get my next SS fix...and then promptly came to my first SSA, Stone Society Anonymous, meeting to reach out and find others that adore this series as much as I do! Welp, thanks for having me and letting me tell my story today. Is there like a Facebook group I can go to in between meetings..ya know...just in case?!? hehe Overall thoughts. Pros: -Multiple POV (even baddies) -EPIC story line that kept me on my toes and begging for more. -Romance flows naturally and feels authentic. -Super imaginative and realistic shifters. -Heros and heroines aren't perfect, they have flaws that make them more relatable. -The ending ties up a lot of loose ends but leaves enough of a cliff hanger that you want to read the next book! Cons: -Dialog feels a bit stilted. I think this is due to the lack of contractions, I could understand the Goyles speaking this way but Kaya does it as well... -Uh..well that's the only con I have haha **Please know that I understand that addictions are real and the meetings are extremely important. I am in no way trying to make fun of an addicts healing process, THIS WAS MEANT TO BE A SILLY WAY TO SHOW PEOPLE HOW WONDERFUL THESE BOOKS ARE.**

I was given this book for an honest review. When I read the synopsis for Rafael I was really excited about this book and the story. I am not ashamed to say that I was and still am a fan of the cartoon Gargoyles series. Rafael is not the type of gargoyle that we are use to knowing. He does not turn into stone when the sun comes up nor is he a strange looking creature like the ones that adorn the tops of buildings. No Rafael is a tall olive skin man with muscles in all the right places. He is rich I was given this book for an honest review. I can say that initially I had an issue keeping all the players in their prospective places but after I got myself together, I was extremely happy with this story. The story was very interesting and the chemistry between Rafael and Kaya was off the charts. By the end of the book I had a big smile on my face. The next book will focus on another member of the clan. Not all questions and situations were resolved at the end of the book but were handled in such a way that I can wait for the next book and I look forward for the next book. Kudos I give Rafael 4 ½ stars

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Readable but the constant shifts of points of view, while interesting, were terribly tiresome. It was easy to confuse characters, their jobs and intentions. Also, whenever said shifts happened, we suffered huge amounts of info dump. Most of it all could've waited to be presented in a sequel and would only add to the mysterious vibe of the book. However, with all the things going on, it was really easy for my mind to get scattered and muddle everything not regarding our main romantic couple. Their so-called romance, well...fast-paced bordering on Speedy Gonzalez, shallow (while maintaining constant chatter saying otherwise) and only slightly memorable. They looked suited but there really wasn't all that much to their relationship apart from the bond. After such a good premise I did end up disappointed. The relationship was mostly sexual, the "bad guy" was caught without much trouble and the mysteries were not all that mysterious or interesting for that matter.

When I first heard the idea of a shapeshifter book about Gargoyles I thought that Faith Gibson was crazy. I thought how can a Gargoyle be sexy. Someone Make This Into a Movie!!! Oooooweee!!! Never have I ever read such an AWESOME gargoyle romance! The action was pretty much non-stop. Like seriously! From beginning to end!! It was amazing!! I wish this was a show that I could lose myself in. (Hint hint Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, or SyFy!! Make it happen!!) Everything flowed so well. The characters are amazingly well done, the hints to the rest of series were seamlessly integrated, the steamy bits weren't overbearing... (sigh... smh) I'm almost Someone Make This Into a Movie!!! I will absolutely be getting the rest of this series, and checking out this author's other works. Oh and btw... Gargoyle shifters, especially the ones in this series, have been added to my list of "I wish these sexy shifters existed".

I'm so sad it's over This was a great read. I had the sample for a long time because I wasn't sure of could relate to a middle aged woman. The heroines in paranormal books I read are usually much younger. However I found that the older woman who has worked her butt off to be at the top and stay there, was similar to who I aim to be. Her strong personality, work ethic, and positive self esteem made a great heroine to match the powerful king Rafael. Ms. Gibson has written a wonderful paranormal romance action suspense (is that even a genre?) that I loved. I'm sad it's over...Happy reading.
