I won this on Goodreads! I love winning good books. Whitney is a 26 year old, stuck in a dead end job and a recent broken engagement. While at a coffee shop some random stranger tells her she should go to law school, because then she can make tons of money to pay off her insane student loans. She decides to take the Bar exam and got to Law school in Chicago. The story is basically about her first year there and the friendships she makes and of course there has to be some kind of love interest an I won this on Goodreads! I love winning good books. I really wanted it to end differently but I really did enjoy the book. I know there is a sequel but I believe it is based on some of the other characters in the book. I haven't decided if I will read that one yet or not.

I don't often get into romance novels, but I really enjoyed this read. Minot describes law school and all its accompanying stress and scariness perfectly without focusing on mundane details. The twist is enjoyable, and the writing is solid. My one (minor) criticism is that the main character's lack of confidence didn't seem to go away and I couldn't understand why. So I'm looking forward to seeing how she grows in the sequel and takes on her second year of law school. I was surprised I enjoyed this book so much, because usually I'm not a fan of lawyer type stories. However, I found the law school details fascinating and felt like I was walking around Chicago with the characters. Speaking of the characters, I found them relatable and very real. My only complaint is that the repetition of the lead girl's inner struggle. My only complaint is that the repetition of the lead girl's inner struggle. Even though she had several different "come to Jesus" talks with not only friends, but also a professor and actually seemed to listen to their advice and encouragement, she continued to have the same melt down/rant over and over. Other than that, I truly enjoyed this story.

This is a very well-written first romance novel. The narrator takes a sympathetic tone toward the characters and manages to steer them through multiple love triangles as well as the first year of law school. I'm looking forward to reading Diana's second novel. This is a very well-written first romance novel. A sweet story about the complexities of our feelings, relationships, and expectations. Also, I felt like I had been transported to the city of Chicago, which I LOVED.
