The entire story is ridiculous, even for a Christmas story. I mean, you have photos of Ross, but no way of identifying him? and you were so rushed to get your flight you didn't have time to get his number or last name? and you go back every year in the hopes that he also goes back every year? and are hung up on this guy for years to the point you almost reject a life-saving transplant? and a Canadian signs on to the NATIONAL registry for a living kidney donation and yet somehow it ends up going The entire story is ridiculous, even for a Christmas story. I don't care how short the story is, you got to explain how that happens other than old man Chris - Santa for those who didn't clue in - decides to screw over someone elses chance at a kidney by messing with an organ donor registry.

Braylon met the man of his dreams one December in Canada and in the rush of the moment, never got a last name or number to be able to see him again. He returns to the place they met every December hoping to find his happiness but as time goes on, it all starts to seem like a dream he needs to let go of. Except the year he gets an exceptional gift and it changes everything. I loved this sweet story of hope and devotion with a special appearance by a familiar face. I can’t say a lot about this story without giving too much away. It’s very short and really it’s a shame. I can’t find too much to complain about except that I would have loved to have read an expanded version of Ms. Peterson’s tale of love lost and found. But then again, I always want to see more of a really good story. A copy of this book was provided in exchange for an honest review. Braylon is dealt a heavy blow when he finds out he has a severe problem with his kidneys. It stops him from attempting to find Ross again, the man he met at an ice rink in Toronto and spent an amazing night with five year ago. Braylon is so desperate to find the almost-stranger again, he nearly turns down the kidney that has been found to be his match. Luckily rational thought wins and he ends up having the surgery that saves his life. Next December, however, he is right back at the ice rink, still hoping to find Ross... Thank God it's Christmas and the mysterious "Chris" has everything under control! If you like sweet stories where miracles do happen, and if you're looking for a read that is pure Christmas-magic, then you will probably enjoy this short story. A chance encounter. One night of passion and a hurried flight home. A night never forgotten and a moment returned to for five years running. This is exactly what happens when Braylon meets Russ on a crowded ice skating rink in Toronto, Canada, one snowy night, on December 1st. After that one intoxicating moment of connection, Braylon must return to the states. But he cannot forget Russ and so he returns to that same rink year after year in the hopes of connecting with him again. However, fate has A chance encounter. However, fate has other ideas in mind. Braylon is ill and needs a kidney in order to survive. A mysterious donor has been found but the surgery must be done immediately—preempting Braylon’s yearly pilgrimage to Toronto to try and reconnect with Russ. After a full year’s recovery, Braylon finds himself returning to Canada but his hopes of seeing Russ have begun to wane. In fact, he is resigned to the idea that this might be the last time he visits the place they first met. But Christmas magic is in the air and one never knows just what gifts await us when Chris Kringle casts his spell. SJD Petersen weaves a magical tale of love at first sight and the fate of two lovers who are torn apart and cannot seem to reconnect. In just a few pages of text, this author gives us a window into the heart and desires of a gentle man who clings to the idea that love is out there for him, if only he can be lucky enough to find it again. Braylon is a sweet romantic soul who refuses to give up on the idea that Russ might be waiting for him just like he is longing to find Russ again. With each passing year, Braylon’s faith never waivers and when fate brings them together in the most intimate of ways, the author ties up the threads of this sweet love story in a big Christmas bow.

An incredible evening and mind-numbing sex left an impression, and Braylon has returned, on the same day, every year, to watch and wait at the rink, hoping to find Ross again. But this year he can't make it, due to a medical emergency, even though he'd prefer to put off the surgery in hopes that this year he'd find him. It's time, though, for Braylon to move on from the ghost of Christmas past, and start learning to live again. Which is exactly what he does. Until his company sends him to Toronto the next year for business, and he just can't resist. Oh, I loved this addition. Jo, you really know how to warm my heart! This is a wonderful story about giving, and it's not to be missed. NOTE: This book was provided by Dreamspinner Press for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews

A short, heartwarming story that shows the true power of circumstance and coincidence. There was a lot of content for so few pages as well, you really get a sense of how badly Braylon wants to reconnect with Ross. And the twist at the end left me surprised and smiling. Definitely a must read for my fellow hopeless romantics. * I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review through http://mmgoodbookreviews.wordpress.com *

Holy Moly Sugar Overload! This is a fairy tale, one that tells about a Christmas miracle so miraculous it requires Christmas to become palatable. It's only around Christmastime I can bear that kind of far-fetched, ever-so-serendipitous sweetness. Incredulous? Unrealistic? Who the Oh Tannenbaum cares? It's Christmas, after all. In case I didn't make myself clear enough: If you're not above suspending a lot of disbelief on behalf of the Holiday spirit, pick up this story, it's a sweet little treat. This is a very sweet story that stretches belief quite a bit, but nevertheless was heartwarming. Braylon and Ross meet one December and have a wonderful night together and then don't see each other again even though Braylon continues to look for Ross each year at the same time. In the meantime, he gets very sick and has to undergo a transplant to save his life. Will they ever see each other again? Very familiar with the ravages of kidney disease - my mom's been on dialysis for over three years. This is a very sweet story that stretches belief quite a bit, but nevertheless was heartwarming. Very familiar with the ravages of kidney disease - my mom's been on dialysis for over three years. She's lucky - she's on PD and she's done great, but man, what a disease it is. I know what the transplant list is like and how that program works and what it takes to even get on the list and the short window you're given if a possible match comes through. It's consuming.

This was a delightful story about tenacity, hope, love and karma. Perfect Christmas short story by one of my favorite authors. It is a typical Christmas miracle story but so well done. I loved Braylon's persistence. He's absolutely determined to find Ross again, he's equally determined to survive his disease. We don't get to see too much of Ross but what we do get is an amazing, giving man. I do agree, this shorty is way to short and has to many holes in the plot. But nonetheless..., I still got a wonderful, Christmas miracle within those pages. I liked that higher spirit belief.
