The Greek and Egyptian gods get in a donnybrook and decide to declare champions to fight for them to determine the outcome of the war. Of course, Xena and her friends are elected to fight for the Greek pantheon. This has a lot more mythology in it than I realized was in Xena. The story wasn't half-bad and the art and coloring were fantastic, reminded me of Greg Land.

In this enjoyable read, the Olympian gods are at war with the Egyptian gods. Gabrielle, Xena, Joxer, Autolycus, and a resurrected Callisto are selected as Greece’s unlikely champions. Why Zeus wouldn’t have selected his own son, Hercules, is not clear. Nevertheless, it’s a fun grouping. The art is excellent. The likenesses of Zeus and Ares are especially good. The Egyptian pantheon of deities is not really explored in the TV series so it’s a welcome addition to the Xenaverse mythology here.

Being an avid fan of Xena, even after all these years, I found this comic to be disappointing. The plot and action were fine, the illustrations were fantastic, but the dialogue was not true to the characters I know and love.

Not great, but I liked the illustrations and it was nice to revisit old characters.
